Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design a Google Sites-based e-module for use in the Engineering Drawing class of SMK Muhammadiyah Gamping for tenth-grade students. Students had difficulty understanding the concept because the printed module was static, according to the needs analysis. This study used the 4D model, which stands for "Define," "Design," "Develop," and "Diseminate," to conduct its research and development. Observations and interviews were used to examine needs at the define stage. The structure of the E-module was created during the design phase by including multimedia components such as photos and movies. Expert validation and student trials conducted during development indicated that the E-module was quite practical in terms of content, media, and learning efficacy. Students' engagement, comprehension, and capacity for independent learning were all positively influenced by the E-module built on Google Sites, thanks to its customizable and dynamic content presentation. This study makes an important contribution to the ongoing efforts of the vocational education field to innovate its teaching media for the digital era.

Abstract

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs believes that Indonesia is experiencing an increase in exports, particularly in the fisheries sector. This is very important because Indonesian waters consist of 44.7% fish, and fisheries are one of Indonesia's key commodity advantages. However, abundant natural resources alone do not guarantee that a nation will become superior if not accompanied by good human resources as well. The issue of fish drying is a crucial problem in the fish processing sector, including for UKM Jaya Utama in Probolinggo City. UKM Jaya Utama still uses traditional drying methods, relying on sunlight as the main drying tool. As a result, UKM Jaya Utama faces drying challenges during the rainy season. The cartridge heater-based fish dryer machine is a machine specially designed for drying and preservation, offering an alternative solution for fish drying during the rainy season and extending the shelf life of the fish. The research method used was an R&D approach with mackerel fish as the research sample, with a capacity of 10 to 15 kg per drying cycle. The machine trial results showed improved work efficiency by reducing the drying duration from 6 hours without the machine to just 2 hours, with potential profit increases of up to 3.6 times.

Abstract

Science literacy plays an important role in shaping Problem-solving Skills in the workplace, especially in the face of increasingly complex industry challenges. This study uses the Narrative Literature Review (NLR) approach to explore the relationship between science literacy and problem-solving skills and identify effective approaches in improving these competencies. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) (PBL) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) are proven methods to improve critical thinking, analytical, and data-driven decision-making skills in the work environment. The results of the study showed that workers with better science literacy have higher abilities to analyze problems, develop innovative solutions, and optimize the production process. In addition, strategies to increase science literacy through problem-based training, team collaboration, and employee empowerment have proven to be effective in supporting the strengthening  of Problem-solving Skills. Evaluation of training programs is necessary to ensure their effectiveness in meeting industry needs. Thus, the integration of science literacy in vocational education and industrial training programs is a strategic step in preparing an adaptive, innovative, and competitive workforce. This study provides recommendations for the world of education and industry in developing a science literacy-based curriculum to increase the competitiveness of the workforce in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of relative advantage and Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM) on consumer attitudes in online shopping with trust as a mediating variable. Given the rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia, understanding the factors that shape consumer trust and purchasing decisions is crucial for businesses and policymakers. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey method. Data was collected through an online questionnaire from 114 respondents selected using the purposive sampling technique. The research model was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4 to test the direct relationship and mediation between variables. The results show that relative advantage and E-WOM have a positive and significant effect on consumer trust, which in turn affects their attitude towards online shopping. The role of trust mediation strengthens the relationship between these factors and consumer attitudes, emphasizing that trust is the main determinant in shaping consumers' positive perceptions of e-commerce transactions. The implications of the findings of this study provide theoretical insights into the mechanism of consumer trust in e-commerce as well as practical recommendations for businesses to improve product advantage and manage customer reviews effectively. In addition, policymakers are encouraged to implement stricter regulations related to transaction security, data protection, and consumer rights to create a more trusted digital market ecosystem. Further research is suggested to expand the scope of demographics and add other variables, such as risk perception and user experience, to gain a more comprehensive understanding of consumer behavior in e-commerce.

Abstract

This study develops a green-oriented curriculum for vocational high schools (SMK) in Jakarta, specifically in the housing and construction field, in response to global trends in sustainable building. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, combining curriculum analysis with expert interviews to identify gaps between existing competencies and the skills demanded in green construction projects. Tyler’s curriculum development model served as the guiding framework to translate industry needs into learning objectives, outcomes, and structured subjects. Findings show that while the current curriculum provides a strong foundation in conventional hard and soft skills, it lacks coverage in minor hard green skills and general green knowledge. To address these gaps, the study proposes the integration of two new main hard skill subjects, six minor hard green skill subjects, five green soft skill subjects, and four general green knowledge subjects. This increases the curriculum from 84 to 101 subjects, ensuring graduates are better prepared to meet international standards for green building and contribute to climate change mitigation. The results suggest that curriculum modification does not require a complete restructuring but rather strategic additions that align vocational education with labor market demands in the green economy. This study offers a pioneering framework for bridging vocational education with global sustainability goals, with implications for future implementation, pilot testing, and collaboration with industry stakeholders.

Abstract

Vocational education demands continuous innovation in instructional media to enhance students’ comprehension of increasingly complex technical concepts. In response to the global shift toward sustainable energy solutions, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of solar panel trainers as hands-on, technology-based learning tools in the teaching of electrical installation engineering. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups, the research was conducted at a vocational high school and involved two student groups: one using conventional learning methods and another using solar panel trainers. Data were collected through structured tests assessing both theoretical understanding and practical skills. The results indicate a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s performance, particularly in understanding the principles of renewable energy and applying them in electrical system installations. These findings highlight the pedagogical benefits of integrating renewable energy technologies into vocational curricula. The study suggests that using practical, real-world tools like solar panel trainers not only enhances learning outcomes but also equips students with relevant competencies for sustainability-driven industries.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an analogy-based learning model following the FAR (Focus, Action, Reflection) principles to explain the working mechanism of battery charging systems in cars and motorcycles, and to prevent student misconceptions. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, involving design, validation, and evaluation stages. The analogy used was adapted from a household water pump system to illustrate the battery charging process. Data were collected from automotive lecturers and vocational teachers through structured assessments of the analogy mapping. The results indicate that most respondents agreed with the analogy mapping, with no misconceptions identified. The structure and function of the analogies were rated convincing, scoring 90 for both motorcycle and car charging systems. Concept comprehension scores were 85 for motorcycles and 80 for cars, while analogy acceptance scored 100 and 90 respectively. The findings imply that structured FAR analogies can enhance student understanding of abstract electrical concepts, reduce the risk of misconceptions, and provide a practical instructional strategy for vocational automotive education.
