Abstract

Sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools, religious-based educational institutions that emphasize moral and spiritual values, is a complex and concerning issue. These cases often lead to stigma that prolongs trauma for the victims. This research uses Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory to analyze the causes and psychological impact of sexual violence, using a case study method. The research involves interviews with victims as well as psychoanalysts or counselors, and data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman method which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools can take the form of kissing, hugging, or touching vital parts, often under the guise of affection or orders from authority figures. The psychological impact of victims can be severe, especially since many choose to remain silent. Psychological dynamics that are unconscious and embedded in the victim's subconscious require in-depth exploration. Sexual violence impacts the three psychological components: id, ego, and superego, resulting in repression of traumatic experiences into the subconscious, dissociation, and PTSD symptoms. Healing efforts can be made through exploration of the subconscious with free association, dream analysis, and identification and processing of internal conflicts. This method also involves transference and countertransference. This research is expected to enrich the understanding of the forms of sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools, the psychological mechanisms underlying the impact on victims, and relevant psychological interventions for healing.

Abstract

This study examines the implications of boys' love (BL) content on fujoshi and fudanshi in Indonesia who live amidst social and cultural values that oppose all LGBT activities. Specifically, this study aims to discover two things: the implications of BL content on the personal and social lives of fujoshi and fudanshi. This study uses a qualitative approach to produce data in descriptive form. Data were obtained using semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document studies. The subjects in the study were fujoshi and fudanshi in various regions in Indonesia. The purposive sampling technique was used to obtain informant data. Inclusion criteria included heterosexual fujoshi and fudanshi as well as initially heterosexual fujoshi and fudanshi. After that, the data were transcribed verbatim and processed using data source triangulation techniques. The results of the study show several things. First, in personal life, BL content can foster homosexual tolerance for fujoshi and fudanshi. However, there is still an inner conflict with the social values and beliefs of fujoshi and fudanshi related to the view that LGBT activities are deviant. In addition, BL content can also make fujoshi and fudanshi better understand their sexual orientation. It can foster fujoshi and fudanshi sexual imagination which is contrary to the biological conditions of fujoshi and fudanshi in real life. Second, based on cultivation theory, BL content can cause changes in fujoshi and fudanshi social relations to a wider realm through the community. However, this can eventually lead to conflict between communities due to having different tensions.

Abstract

Indonesia Kaya, initiated by a cigarette company, uploaded a batik-themed film in 2018 on the IndonesiaKaya YouTube account. The author sees indications that there is a construction of a positive image of a cigarette company through the representation presented in the film, so the purpose of this study is to reveal how the positive image of a cigarette company is displayed in a batik-themed film. The research method used is a qualitative method with representation by Stuart Hall as its main analysis tool. The result is a positive image of a cigarette company displayed in a batik-themed film through the representation presented in the film, namely Intentional Representation and Constructionist Representation. The positive image that appears in the scene in the film is that the existence of a cigarette company is no longer in doubt and is a local product that has been attached to the Indonesian nation; the cigarette company has preserved traditional products; the cigarette company has a winding journey story until now it has succeeded; the cigarette company cares about the environment, culture, and the Indonesian nation; inspiration for all cigarette factories; and is used as a role model for other cigarette factories because of its success. In this case, batik is positioned as a commodity that can generate profit for cigarette companies, namely by constructing a positive image of cigarette companies. Not only commodifying batik, but as a product of a media, in the film there is also commodification of content, audience, and labor.

Abstract

Scavenging has been the object of scientific and academic research based on various scientific viewpoints worldwide. Still, the issue of the double burden that is experienced by women scavengers and its impact on gender inequality and women's productivity has received less attention. This research aims to explore further the effects of double burden or dual responsibility burdened by women scavengers in Komunitas Pemulung Pasir Panjang Kota Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to gender inequality and the productivity of women scavengers in that community. This research employed a qualitative approach including field observation and in-depth interviews. This research has found that the phenomena of double burden does not liberate women scavengers from the patriarchal chain that binds and restrains them, but instead makes them increasingly dependent on men in the economic and financial dimension of household life. In addition, they are caught in a dilemma between maximizing the option of working outside the home or taking care of their domestic work. As a consequence of the long-standing and strong internalization of a false awareness about women's natural duties, those women scavengers do not think of this as an injustice but rather an obligation that must be carried out properly and consistently.

Abstract

This study focuses on the current problems and challenges encountered in conserving heritage sites in the province of Quezon. Likewise, it aimed to determine the consensus regarding practices and strategies for conserving said heritage sites. This quantitative research obtained data from 50 respondents from LGU offices in charge of maintaining heritage sites and representatives from the provincial tourism office. Said respondents confirmed that environmental factors such as calamities and climate change take the worst toll on the heritage sites, exacerbated by a seemingly permanent lack of funding and trained and stable workforce, which can be traced to the inadequacy of public awareness and support. In response, public education was deemed a top priority; suggestions were made to include heritage conservation in school curricula and to conduct aggressive social media campaigns. Cost management also received emphasis in terms of sustainable and cost-effective preservation strategies, such as the use of alternative restoration materials, innovative techniques, and collaboration. Involving community members is seen as sustainable and mutually beneficial in terms of employment generation and boosting the LGU economy.

Abstract

Rambu Solo’ is one of the customs that the Toraja people still preserve. The implementation of Rambu Solo’ becomes a challenge for some families because this ritual becomes an obligation done as a form of gratitude to people who have died. Besides that, Rambu Solo’s ceremony requires every family to be able to pay off their debt (indan) from the ritual. This problem makes the family depressed, so it is expected that the family can be resilient in daily life. Thus, This study aims to find out the relationship between religiosity and the family resilience of those who carry out Rambu Solo’s ritual in Toraja. The method used is quantitatively correlational. Participants involved as many as 93 Toraja people aged 22-50 years who had or were carrying out Rambu Solo’ ritual using incidental sampling techniques. The measurement scale uses the religiosity scale and the family resilience scale. The results showed a significant positive relationship between religiosity and the family resilience of those who perform Rambu Solo’ ritual in Toraja. This result has implications that families among Toraja who have the debt (Indan) due to carrying out Rambu Solo’ ritual, can survive after getting out of the pressure by paying off their debt (Indan).

Abstract

Feedback is necessary to measure whether students have understood well the lesson that has been delivered. Students should be given feedback to help them become autonomous learners who can regulate aspects of their thinking, motivation, and behaviour during learning. The study aimed to find out how feedback is implemented by the teacher based on Nicol’s framework and to find out students’ perceptions towards the application of formative assessment. A questionnaire was administered to get the data on how feedback that facilitates students’ self-regulation is implemented at MA Negeri 2 Kota Palu. Further, an in-depth interview was used to get students’ perception towards the implementation of feedback. The questionnaire showed that the implementation of feedback at MA Negeri 2 Kota Palu helps clarify what good performance is, facilitates the development of self-assessment in learning, delivers high quality information to students about their learning, encourages teacher and peer dialogue around learning, encourages positive motivational beliefs and self-esteem, and provides opportunities to close the gap between current and desired performance. The interview revealed that students have positive perception towards the feedback implemented by the teacher.
