Abstract

This study addresses the limited research on how external factors influence student personality development within Madrasahs, focusing on the OCEAN personality dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. It examines the effects of Madrasah head leadership, institutional culture, and teacher role models on shaping these traits in students at State Islamic Senior High Schools (MAN) in DKI Jakarta. Using a quantitative approach, the research involved 337 respondents, including both teachers and students, and employed multiple linear regression analysis to test the relationships between the independent variables and student personality traits. The findings indicate that leadership, culture, and teacher behavior significantly and positively affect the development of students’ personalities. These results highlight the co-contributory role of strong leadership, inclusive school culture, and exemplary teaching behavior in fostering holistic student development. The study concludes that effective educational environments contribute not only to academic success but also to students’ emotional well-being and life skills. Notably, principals' leadership strategies were found to significantly influence students' personality development in madrasahs, suggesting that variations in leadership practices across different institutions may impact the generalizability of the findings. Consequently, the study offers recommendations for strengthening leadership and role modeling within Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Students' motivation for independent learning remains low, partly due to the lack of engaging and high quality learning media. This study aims to develop a virtual laboratory for computer assembly to support high school students’ independent learning. The virtual lab was developed using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires based on the ISO 25010 instrument. Evaluation involved two media experts and ten users (two teachers and eight students), yielding feasibility scores of 110.08 and 111.8, both rated “Very Feasible.” A small-group trial with 60 students (experimental and control groups) showed a significant difference in learning outcomes (t-test sig. = 0.000), with the experimental group scoring higher (M = 51.79) than the control group (M = 36.67). These results suggest that the virtual lab has the potential to enhance students' independent learning abilities in the short term. However, caution is needed in interpreting these results, as other factors such as novelty effects, teacher influence, or students’ prior knowledge may also have contributed.

Abstract

Pesantren as traditional Islamic educational institutions, are increasingly challenged to balance the preservation of religious values with technological adaptation in the era of Society 5.0. This study investigates how pesantren in Padang Panjang City, West Sumatra, implement digital educational innovations while maintaining their core identity. Guided by the central question—how do pesantren integrate technological advancements into their educational practices without compromising their traditional foundations? this research adopts a narrative-based grounded theory approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and document analysis in six selected pesantren. Findings reveal three key areas of innovation: integration of the national and pesantren curricula, incorporation of digital technologies into the learning process, and the development of extracurricular programs tailored to students’ talents and interests. Some pesantren have established specialized units such as the Diniyyah Research Center and Diniyyah Robotic, introduced native speakers in language programs, and facilitated research, literacy, and tech-based learning activities. These developments reflect not only adaptive capacity but also the emergence of a contextual and forward-looking Islamic education model. The study contributes to a nuanced understanding of how pesantren navigate transformation while upholding their educational and spiritual heritage in response to 21st-century demands.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) management differs significantly from that of Senior High Schools (SMA), particularly in managing technical programs and teacher responsibilities. This study investigates the effects of vocational program management and teacher performance on learning quality in public SMKs in Bireuen Regency, Aceh. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected via surveys from 176 teachers and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results show that both teacher performance and vocational program quality positively and significantly influence learning quality, with teacher performance also exerting an indirect effect. These findings underscore the importance of integrated program planning and teacher development to enhance student learning outcomes in vocational education. The study highlights the need for systemic alignment between program content and educator competencies to support the learning needs of SMK students. While focused on a specific regional context, the findings offer relevant insights for broader vocational education reform initiatives.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) play a strategic role in producing a generation of students who are not only religious but also economically independent. This study aims to describe the Management of Student Entrepreneurship Education based on alumni empowerment at the Al-Khoirot Islamic Boarding School in Malang Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and case studies, data were collected from mentors, alumni, and active students through semi-open questionnaires, limited interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The results show that alumni play a significant role in training, mentoring, and managing Islamic boarding school business units. Alumni involvement is not only based on economic aspects but also on emotional ties to the alma mater. However, the implementation of entrepreneurship programs still faces challenges such as irregular training, weak coordination between units, and low student participation. With more structured and collaborative management, Islamic boarding schools can create a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem integrated with the educational curriculum.

Abstract

Learning models have an important role in achieving success in achieving goals. This study aims to examine the Challenge Based Learning model and compile its implementation in Islamic Religious Education Learning to Increase Student Religiosity as the core objective of Islamic Religious Education learning. The approach in this research uses a qualitative approach with the type of literature study. The data in this study were obtained from primary sources including Challenge Based Learning Guidelines, Textbooks, and Education Regulations in Indonesia. In addition, this study also took secondary sources from various relevant scientific journal articles. The data obtained was then analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The result of this study concludes that the Challenge Based Learning (CBL) model is an innovative approach that places learners as the main subject in designing real solutions to challenges relevant to their lives. CBL not only encourages active engagement, collaboration, and the development of 21st century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration, but it is also very relevant to be implemented in Islamic Religious Education Learning to improve students' substantive religiosity. Through a systematic syntax, starting from the engage, explore, to act stages, CBL helps learners identify, analyze, and solve real problems reflectively and applicatively. Thus, the application of CBL in Islamic Religious Education learning has the potential to form a religious character that is not only symbolic, but also reflected in students' daily behavior, so as to overcome various phenomena of moral decline and religiosity in the current educational environment. Researchers in this case recommend further research in the form of implementing the Challenge Based Learning model in Islamic Religious Education Learning to Improve Students' Religious Attitudes.
