Abstract

White jasmine (Jasminum sambac (L.) Aiton) is one of the ornamental plants whose flowers are widely used. However, information regarding flower development, especially the flowering phenology of this plant, is still limited. This study aims to obtain information on the flowering phenology of melati putih and the morphological characterization of the flowers. Flowering phenology data was analyzed qualitatively, while flower morphology character data was analyzed quantitatively. The results show that the flowering phenology of melati putih takes place in an average of 26 days with environmental factors being light intensity 337.00-2639.00 lux, air temperature 27-34oC, humidity 61-82%, and rainfall 0.0–9.6 mm. Air temperature and humidity influence the process of bud emergence and the length of time for large buds to develop towards anthesis. The morphological characters of the flower is inflorescentia cymosa, pleiochasial type with trumpet-shaped, white color, and classified as a complete flower. Small flowers have an average flower length of 26 mm and an average diameter of 31 mm. There are 8-10 petals (calyx) with an average length of 8 mm and diameter is 6 mm. The crown (corolla) is composed of 7-10. Each flower has two stamens and a pistil.

Abstract

The North Sumatra Basin is one of the major sedimentary basins in Indonesia with significant hydrocarbon potential. However, exploration in this region faces challenges due to overpressure, which can increase operational risks such as blowouts. This study aims to analyze pore pressure and overpressure formation mechanisms in Well Al using the Eaton method and a crossplot approach between sonic and density data. The analysis results indicate that the top overpressure is identified at a depth of 8,500 ft in the Keutapang Formation and continues into the Baong, Bampo, and Parapat Formations. Wireline log evaluation indicates anomalies in the sonic, neutron, and density logs, which are consistent with disequilibrium compaction patterns. The Dutta crossplot results also confirm the dominance of smectite minerals without transformation into illite, reinforcing that the primary overpressure mechanism is loading due to disequilibrium compaction. Accurate pore pressure modeling is necessary to improve drilling safety and efficiency in this area.

Abstract

Despite recent improvements in health indicators, ensuring affordable, quality healthcare for the elderly in Riau Province remains challenging. This study examines personal experiences accessing healthcare services, costs, barriers, and strategies to develop more effective solutions for elderly welfare. We conducted a qualitative phenomenological study with 20 seniors in Riau Province (November-December 2024) with equal gender representation. Experienced interviewers gathered information about healthcare seeking, accessibility, affordability, and strategies. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results revealed unsatisfactory health conditions among elderly populations, with many suffering from benign tumors, chronic kidney disease, persistent pain, and gastric ulcers. Most participants had multiple non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes and hypertension. The elderly faced significant obstacles accessing both government and private healthcare, including inadequate facilities, long wait times, complicated referral systems, and limited medication and medical personnel availability. Financial constraints presented major barriers, especially for private services with high costs. Limited understanding of procedures and additional expenses further complicated access. Transportation issues and lack of awareness about available services highlighted the need for targeted interventions to improve health outcomes in this demographic. System improvements and service enhancements are necessary for optimal healthcare access. Policymakers and elderly care providers must prioritize elderly-friendly healthcare infrastructure with affordable care costs to improve health conditions among senior citizens in Riau Province.
