Abstract

Background: Pregnancy involved physical, emotional, and social changes, making spousal support crucial in reducing stress, anxiety, and improving maternal quality of life. However, participation of mothers and husbands in prenatal classes in Indonesia remained low. A hybrid education model (online and face-to-face) had the potential to address these limitations. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a digital-based hybrid companion class on improving the quality of life of pregnant women in Magelang City. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a non-randomized pretest-posttest with control group design. The sample consisted of 60 couples of reproductive age (30 intervention, 30 control) selected through simple random sampling. The hybrid class intervention included modules, educational videos, and mentoring through WhatsApp, conducted in four sessions. Quality of life was measured using WHOQOL-BREF at three time points and analyzed with GLM-RM.Results: The intervention significantly improved the quality of life of pregnant women in the psychological domain (p = 0.001; η² = 69.3%), social domain (p = 0.021; η² = 34.2%), and environmental domain (p = 0.001; η² = 65.7%), while the physical domain was not significant (p = 0.510).Conclusion: The digital-based hybrid companion class was effective in improving the quality of life of pregnant women in psychological, social, and environmental aspects. Integration of the program into antenatal services was recommended to enhance the role of husbands in pregnancy care.

Abstract

Background: Weaving workers are exposed to noise exceeding the Threshold Limit Value (TLV), putting them at risk of noise-induced hearing loss. Egg trays and cotton fabric have noise absorption capabilities. These materials have potential as eco-friendly noise dampening materials in earmuffs. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of using cotton fabric-lined egg trays in earmuffs on noise-induced hearing loss among workers. Methods: The effectiveness of earmuffs was tested through a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest approaches in intervention and control groups with 82 respondents. Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) was measured through audiometric examination of both ears. Data were analyzed using Somers'd, Marginal Homogeneity, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests. Results: The modified earmuffs were able to reduce noise by up to 34 dB with an effective NRR of 20.25 dB. The experimental group experienced a significant decrease in NIHL (p=0.000), while the control group experienced an increase in NIHL. Age and length of employment had significant effects (p<0.05). There was a significant posttest difference between the experimental and control groups (p=0.008).Conclusion: Modified earmuffs containing cotton fabric-lined egg trays proved effective in reducing noise. The use of earmuffs by workers reduced the risk of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).

Abstract

Background: Dental pulp disease was the case with the highest prevalence at the Dental Clinic of XY Kajen Hospital. The main constraint in root canal treatment was the high procedural cost, which led to low patient acceptability. Objective: This study aimed to analyze and calculate the unit cost of dental pulp disease treatment at the Dental Clinic of XY Kajen Hospital using the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) method as a basis for rational tariff determination. Additionally, a comparative analysis of the Cost Recovery Rate (CRR) was conducted among JKN tariffs, the Double Distribution (DD) method, and the ABC method. Methods: This study employed a field study design with a qualitative descriptive approach. Primary data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation review, while secondary data were obtained from the hospital information system. Data analysis was conducted systematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion verification. Results: Unit cost analysis using the ABC method showed that the current general tariffs were lower compared to the ABC calculation results, and for some types of procedures, they were even lower than the INA-CBGs tariff package. These findings indicated that there were cost components and cost drivers that had not been comprehensively calculated in conventional tariff setting. In response to the low INA-CBGs CRR, hospital management implemented a cost containment strategy for service operational cost efficiency. Conclusion: The ABC method proved to be a valid analytical instrument for cost evaluation and strategic tariff setting in hospitals, as it was able to present resource cost allocation more accurately and transparently compared to conventional methods.
