Abstract

The prevalence of comedy and satirical programming on television and online platforms has contributed to a growing divide between entertainers (musicians) and their audiences, with the former offering guidance, criticism, and a reflection of everyday life through their work. As far as the researchers's search and exploration, there are still a few who examine and can even be said to rarely relate music through the culture of Karungut and Deder song, a culture that exists and lives in Dayak Ngaju, Central Kalimantan. This research is interesting because besides music as a fun strategy, Deder song as local wisdom is an expression of the daily life of the Dayak people in Central Kalimantan. This song contains advice, satire, advice and is still present today as part of the richness of world civilization. Lantunan Deder is presented in traditional events (weddings, welcoming guests and various Manasai dances that include men and women in rhythm or balance). Participation in Lantunan Deder has become interesting as a strategy for learning about the content of Christian religious education lessons in schools, living rooms and churches. The usefulness is more about the love of culture, God also sensitizes the participation of women and men as part of the sustainable development goals (SGDs). The research method used 4D model development with analysis and validation space and considered diversity, and song structure. The results showed that Deder as method, strategy, development, cultural actualization, as well as an instrument rarely done in the learning process of Christian religious education and researchers conducted direct practice in the field by melting Deder chants with the learning process which resulted in the creativity of students as actors and user subjects as well as cultural preservation subjects for Ngaju Dayak culture.

Abstract

Cirebon Gunungan Puppet is one of the gunungan puppet figures that has shape characteristics in the Java region. Gunungan puppet is a puppet figure whose presence is considered important in every puppet show. Therefore, these puppet figures are often reproduced to meet the needs of puppet show. However, knowledge of the gunungan puppet preparation is still limited to traditional knowledge that is less understandable by today's younger generation who need more objective and systematic knowledge. Therefore, this study aims to compose knowledge of gunungan puppet with a focus on composing engineering drawings in the Cirebon gunungan puppet shape through ethnomathematics. The method used in this study is qualitative with an experimental approach. The theory used to support the achievement of this gunungan puppet engineering drawing is ethnomathematics. The composition of the Cirebon gunungan puppet engineering drawings produced three stages, that are the base grid system that determined through ethnomathematical ratio, the contour base that resulting from the arrangement of triangle, circle, and square shape, and the outline shape that resulting from drawing the outline from the geometric shape arrangement to create the Cirebon gunungan puppet shape. The results of this research are expected to be a reference for learning traditional art and design objectively and systematically, especially in the creation of Cirebon mountain puppets.

Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the structure and form of Jaya Baya music composition by I Nyoman Windha in JES Gamelan Fusion. Jaya Baya's Music Composition in JES Gamelan Fusion is the result of a rearrangement of the same title worked on with the Sekar Jaya Gamelan Group using Angklung gamelan in 2002 by taking the idea of revealing the meaning of the Bom Bali I Tragedy. This research uses qualitative descriptive research methods, with musicological approach procedures, to analyze the form and structure of the Composition of Musik Jaya Baya in JES Gamelan Fusion. This music turnover is in the style of fusion music, by combining the values of Bali characteristics with Western music values presented by JGF (Jes Gamelan Fusion). It turns out that in her composition, Windha is still thick with Balinese karawitan practices, where various elements of music, the practice of music playing techniques, ornamentation, and even the structure of the music are still Balinese style. Two types of gamelan as the basic foundation of music fusion, namely Jegog gamelan and Semar Pagulingan Saih Pitu gamelan, have certainly given rise to sound color perspectives and instrumentation techniques as a creative force for composition creation.   Windha has also made hybrid music in a fusion style which turned out to be an alternative to combining Western and Eastern music (Nusantara).

Abstract

Endeng-endeng is a traditional Mandailing dance that encapsulates cultural diversity and local wisdom, serving as a medium through which traditional values are sustained amid modern societal shifts. This study investigates the embodiment of local wisdom in the instruction of Endeng-endeng dance among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Rantau Selatan. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were gathered through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Local wisdom in the Mandailing community is reflected in social values, norms, and kinship systems, which are integrated into traditional expressions such as dance. These elements function as intangible cultural assets, reinforcing identity and guiding social behavior. The educational setting is positioned as a critical space for cultural transmission, enabling students to internalize and reproduce these values. Findings indicate that the Endeng-endeng dance is an effective pedagogical tool for instilling moral and social norms, including politeness, communal living, and life guidance. Its integration into formal education supports the preservation of Mandailing cultural heritage and enhances students’ understanding of indigenous knowledge systems. Thus, dance education serves not only as artistic instruction but also as a conduit for intergenerational knowledge transfer and the reinforcement of local identity.

The music not only represents entertainment but also cultural values and social norms lowered from generation to generation. Objektivication is visible in objective elements such as musical instruments, and stage performances which form the typical identity of the dangdut Lamongan. Musical instruments such as drum, suling and electronic musical elements in modern dangdut collaborate with traditional musical instruments. Finally, Externalization occurs when people create in accordance with the form of serving their respective regions. Through the three processes, dangdut music in Lamongan becomes a social space where people interact, communicate, and reinforce their cultural identity through music.
