Abstract

Stigma plays a significant role in creating disparities in health services experienced by PLWHA, thus becoming a barrier for them to access prevention, care, and treatment services. Therefore, the role of health workers is crucial. This study aims to review and critically evaluate the type and scope of interventions that have been conducted to reduce HIV/AIDS-related stigma among health workers. This study is a scoping review using PRISMA guidelines. Journal and article searches were conducted through electronic databases, including ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, Embase, Garuda Portal, PubMed, Scopus, and Sage Journals. Fourteen articles were discussed in this review. Interventions that successfully reduced stigma were those provided with individual emphasis by disseminating information, interacting, and training. In addition, structural approaches such as developing and disseminating policies in hospitals, providing material to facilitate the practice of universal precautions, and adding curriculum in health schools). The results obtained from the intervention significantly reduced stigma among health workers with a combined approach, which showed higher effectiveness than the single approach. Interventions to reduce stigma need to be sufficiently carried out with an individual-based approach, but interventions with a structural approach must also be considered. Suggest further research by analyzing or exploring potential synergies between these two approaches.

Abstract

In January 2023, an outbreak of Hepatitis A occurred at Islamic Boarding School (IBS) X, Rokan Hilir Regency, which infected many students. This study aims to identify the risk factors for hepatitis A outbreaks. This study uses a case-control design with a ratio of 1:1. Total sample is 232 (116 samples per group). The research population was all students and residents of IBS X. Cases were people who have clinical criteria for hepatitis A according to the doctor's diagnosis. Controls were people who did not experience clinical symptoms of hepatitis A, selected using a consecutive sampling method with matching by age and sex. Data were analyzed univariate, bivariate using a chi-square test, and multivariate using a conditional logistic regression test. This study found that the index case started to feel symptoms on October 20, 2022. The epidemic curve shows a continuous common source pattern. The final model of the regression logistic test obtained two significant variables, namely contact history (OR=9.92, 95% CI: 3.31-29.72, p=<0.001) and unclean nail conditions (OR=4.64, 95% CI: 1.55-13.87, p=0.006). This study concluded that the risk factors for hepatitis A outbreaks at IBS X were contact history and unclean nail conditions. We recommend isolating cases to prevent transmission through contact from cases to healthy people as well as providing adequate facilities for washing hands with soap and increasing education about healthy behavior to maintain good nail cleanliness and personal hygiene conditions for all students and residents of IBS X.

Abstract

Women of childbearing age (WCA) are important in the agricultural sector. The farming activities allow women of childbearing age to come into contact with pesticides. Women of childbearing age are at risk of experiencing health effects, one of which is anemia, due to exposure to pesticides. The study aimed to analyze the determinants of pesticide exposure to the blood Hb levels of WCA. This type of research is quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional study approach. The population of this study was WCA, which was exposed to pesticides in the South Dempo District of Pagar Alam. The sample size of this study was 120 women, who were taken using the cluster sampling technique. Data was collected using an interview method using a questionnaire, observation using a checklist, measurement of body weight using a weight scale, height using microtoise, and Hb level using Easy Touch GCHB. Data analysis of the study's results was carried out univariately and bivariate using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of measuring blood Hb levels showed 39 people (32.5%) with abnormal Hb levels and 81 respondents (67.5%) with normal Hb levels. The bivariate analysis results showed that the variables associated with blood Hb levels of WUS were the duration of washing of spraying clothes (p=0.037) and the duration of preparing pesticides (p=0.037). In Contras, the variables that are not associated with blood Hb levels were the duration of spraying, the duration of mixing, the frequency of spraying, and the use of PPE. It was recommended that women of childbearing age reduce the length of time spent washing and spraying clothes and preparing pesticides through good time management.

Abstract

An increase in blood pressure above the standard threshold is categorized as hypertension. A few variables that are such as age, genetics, unhealthy habits, and foods high in fat, salt, or cholesterol, may impact the appearance of hypertension. Increases in blood triglycerides and cholesterol may occur due to hypertension. Atherosclerotic plaque, produced by excess cholesterol and triglycerides interacting with other chemicals and depositing in the arteries, causes the heart to work harder to deliver blood to all tissues. This research aims to determine how hypertension patients at the UPTD Regional Health Laboratory in Jambi City react to their triglyceride and cholesterol levels. This study used an analytical descriptive research methodology. In this study, 50 hypertension patients were asked about triglyceride and cholesterol levels measured using the GPO-PAP method and the CHOD-PAP enzymatic colorimetric cholesterol test method. According to the study's results, hypertension patients had a mean cholesterol level of 275.76 mg/dl and a mean triglyceride level of 236.64 mg/dl. Statistical analyses showed a strong correlation (p<0.05) between triglycerides and cholesterol in hypertension patients at the UPTD Regional Health Laboratory in Jambi City. Patients with hypertension need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get periodic tests for triglycerides and cholesterol to reduce the risk of problems.

Abstract

There were 19.67 injuries per 200,000 hours worked by mining employees in 2019 in Ghana, the injuries were due to the gap between mining operations and the knowledge and skills of their workers. These gaps can generally lead to work stresss. Various factors can cause work stresss, both caused by individual factors and work-related factors. This study aims to analyze these factors on work stresss in mining operation employees PT-XYZ. The research respondents amounted to 226, divided into 5 departments, namely Construction, Processing, Geotechnical, Underground mining operations (Ops.) and Repair operations (Mtc.). This quantitative research design uses cross-sectional study research methods. The dependent variable in the form of work stress was measured using the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) while the independent variables in the form of age, education, length of work, gender, and worker status were taken using general questionnaire. The data analysis technique in this study used the Chi-square test. There were 46 respondents (20.4%) experiencing work stress. This study showed a significant relationship between the age factor of workers (0.03) and gender (0.05) of workers with work stress in employees of PT-XYZ mining operations. Understanding the age and sex factors of workers that affect work stress can provide an overview for PT-XYZ to formulate policies, appropriate procedures, and interventions in managing mining safety.
