Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the effect of contextual teaching and learning in improving students' mathematical connection ability through various previous research results. The method used is a meta-analysis with a quantitative approach. The research samples are the research articles in the form of theses, dissertations, and national journals and international journals that met predetermined criteria. The process of collecting data is conducted by following the prism flow. The data analysis technique is determining the effect size of each study using the standardized mean difference formula. Further statistics of the effect size used is the random effect model. The results of the analysis of the random-effect model show that from the various research results that have been analyzed, it is able to increase students' mathematical connection ability by 85% with very big categories. This indicates that the contextual teaching and learning model provides a huge contribution to the improvement of students' mathematical connection ability.

Abstract

The limited face-to-face interaction has reduced school hours and resulted in students having difficulty understanding the lesson and completing assignments given by the teacher, and this caused a decline in learning outcomes. Optimizing the learning process in the new normal era will be effective by applying blended learning. One of the learning models that can support students is blended learning with discovery learning models. Through the discovery blended learning (DBL) model, students become more active in the learning process. This model can increase students' self-efficacy and collaboration with peers in the class because students feel confident and can solve a problem. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of blended learning with discovery learning models on self-efficacy and learning outcomes in Biology subject during the new normal era. This research is a quasi-experimental research design with non-equivalent control of pretest-posttest group design. Data analysis was carried out by using the N-gain test and independent t-test. The results indicate that there is a significant difference in effectiveness in the class using DBL on student learning outcomes and self-efficacy with the control class using the conventional model. In DBL syntax, students' ability in formulating problems and finding concepts independently, and presenting results can help students improve learning outcomes and self-efficacy. The DBL model can be used as an alternative model to support students learning Biology at the high school level (SMA/MA) in Indonesia so that students are more active in discussions to solve problems related to the subject matter. This model is also expected to guide students to find concepts independently so that students become more confident and believe in their abilities, especially in the new normal era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' academic fraud during math exams during the Covid-19 pandemic based on the missing theory dimension regarding students' academic abilities. This research was conducted in class IX, a junior high school in Semarang. Six subjects were selected purposively, with high, moderate, and low academic ability, two students each. Data collection uses test scores, academic fraud scales, and interviews. The technique of checking the validity of the data is through triangulation of sources and methods. This study shows that students with high, moderate, and low academic abilities commit academic fraud when taking the same exam but with different intensities. The background of the fraud is greed, opportunity, need, and exposure. The form of fraud is copying answers on the internet or collaborating with other friends while doing exams. Students do this because of the effects of online learning and the lack of supervision from the teacher during the exam.

Abstract

Until now, mathematics is still a difficult subject for students.  This is one of the implications of the abstract nature of mathematics. For this reason, mathematics learning is designed in such a way by bringing mathematics closer to the real-life context and student experience. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) is an alternative learning approach that is able to reduce the gap between abstract mathematics and real life. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method that aims to test the effectiveness of RME in mathematics learning in elementary schools. The study used one group pretest-post test design. A study sample of N = 19 was selected from class V of SD Negeri 2 Labalawa, Baubau City. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics  and  non-parametric inferential statistics. The results showed that the average gain score of pretests and post-tests reached 44.09 with a Standard Error of Mean of 3,763 and 4,811, respectively. The test results of the average difference between the pretest and post-test were declared significant at a confidence level of 95% or ?=0.05. The indication is indicated by a Mann-Whitney test value of 23,000 with a2-tailed asymptotic fiancy value of 0.000 < 0.05. The results of the data analysis of this study concluded that the implementation of RME has a significant effect  on mathematics  learning outcomes  in elementary schools. The results of this study have positive implications for changing the teaching style  and  learning style of students  from teacher oriented to students oriented.
