Abstract

This research utilized a quantitative approach with a descriptive observational method aiming to increase students' activeness and mastery of the material. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and reference studies related to learning. The study focused on observing the implementation of learning to assess students' activeness and the improvement of material mastery through several learning models. The results showed that learning activities designed to stimulate all students’ senses during the learning process successfully increased students’ activeness. Initial assessments measuring material mastery without using a learning model showed an average score of 68%, which was close to a good category. However, when treated with the spider webs and walking sticks models in discussion activities, learning became more engaging, resulting in an average material mastery score of 90%, indicating a very good category.

Abstract

Learning in the listening aspect is still challenging for middle and upper level students due to weak vocabulary, structure, and speaking skills, and many students often struggle with comprehensive listening. This study aimed to determine the increase in learning outcomes after utilizing YouTube as a learning media, measure the impact, and describe the learning process using YouTube media. The study used an experimental method with pretest and posttest only, involving 35 students of class VI SMP Alikhlas Bekasi. Data were collected from tests before and after treatment using YouTube media, processed with SPSS 20, and tested for normality and homogeneity before using a paired sample test. The results showed an increase of 12.2941, indicating that YouTube improved listening skills. Utilizing YouTube included searching for material, watching and listening to the content, analyzing, and distributing it to students and teachers. It is recommended that teachers provide sufficient time and opportunities for students to develop their abilities independently through YouTube, with consistent evaluation and supervision as the key to successful learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the role of online learning for grade III students of SD Free Methodist 2 Medan in the academic year 2020/2021. This research was descriptive qualitative research, with the subjects being third-grade students of SD Free Methodist 2 Medan. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the research results, it was concluded that online learning was effectively carried out during the pandemic to break the transmission of the coronavirus. It was suggested that teachers create complete modules so that students would not need to search for answers on Google and could instead refer to their notes. During this period, teachers should actively engage with students, such as through video calls, rather than only sending assignments via WhatsApp groups. The results also indicated that online learning helped anticipate student boredom, as students better understood the material when explained directly by teachers, while in many cases, parents assisted in explaining the material.

The results indicated that students' learning outcomes after implementing the example-non-example cooperative learning model were in the very good category, with an average score of 80.27. The normality test showed that the significance value of learning outcomes was Lcount ˃ Ltable, namely 0.200 ˃ 0.05, indicating that the data were normally distributed. The homogeneity test obtained a coefficient value of 0.904, meaning rcount ˃ rtable 0.05. Furthermore, the t-test results found tcount ˃ ttable or 2.935 ˃ 1.699; thus, Ha was accepted. These results indicated that the example-non-example type cooperative learning model had a positive and significant effect on students' learning outcomes. Keywords:

Abstract

Humans cannot be separated from daily communication in order to achieve effective interaction with others. Effective communication occurs when individuals understand and share common goals. Good communication between parents and children has a positive impact on family life; however, not all families experience effective communication, particularly families with children who have intellectual disabilities. This condition can hinder effective communication between parents and children. Therefore, this study aimed to describe effective communication between parents and children with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Brebes, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing such communication. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects consisted of four families, each with parents who had children with mild intellectual disabilities. Data were collected primarily through interviews and supported by observations. The results showed that communication between parents and their children in all four families was effective, particularly in habituating worship activities, which was supported by the use of audiovisual media. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors of effective communication included children’s slow cognitive processing and emotional instability resulting from intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic disaster has affected various fields; one of which was the field of education. Starting from basic education to higher education, everything is hampered and cannot be carried out face-to-face because crowds can expand the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Utilizing google meet is believed to be a strategy to conduct online learning. Google meet allows teachers and students to make audiovisual calls in a classical form or in large numbers. In addition, this application provides many features that can support the implementation of online learning. This type of research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research used a research design model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart referring to a spiral from one cycle to the next cycle. Each cycle included planning,, action, observation, and reflection (in Arikunto, 2002). Two cycles resulted in the increase of students’ learning outcomes from 60.45 to 80.45 with grades from 50 to 100. Thus, learning through google meet media was more effective in improving students’ learning outcomes in mathematical numbering operations.

Technology develops so rapidly that all human needs in all fields experience a drastic change from delay to acceleration, from backwardness to progress, and from closed nature to open nature. Learning media is one of the important elements in the learning process. One form of learning media used in technological development is Youtube. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The design in this research was a model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart in form of a spiral from one cycle to the next cycle. Each cycle included planning, action, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkalis. The subjects of this study were Buddhist students at grade X (Ten) Social Studies of SMA Negeri 1 Bengkalis, for as many as 24 students. Learning in two cycles showed an increase in students’ learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the average score was <75 (75%), while in the second cycle, the average score was >75 (75%). Thus, utilizing youtube increased students' attractiveness to learning and improved students’ learning outcomes.
