Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher performance and the obstacles faced in implementing thematic learning SD Swasta Islam PERWIS-SKM Padangsidimpuan. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation of grade III and VI teachers. The results of the study indicate that teacher performance in planning, implementing, and assessing thematic learning has been running quite well, demonstrated by teachers' efforts in preparing lesson plans based on the 2013 Curriculum, implementing varied learning methods such as discussions, questions and answers, presentations, and outdoor learning, and providing evaluation through observation and assessment of student work. However, several obstacles were still found, such as difficulties in integrating between subjects, limited learning facilities, differences in student abilities, and administrative burdens that reduce planning time. Teachers attempted to overcome these obstacles through media modifications, collaboration with other teachers, adjustments to learning methods, and additional assistance for students who needed it. The results of this study emphasize the importance of school facility support and ongoing training to improve the effectiveness of thematic learning implementation in elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the differences in IPAS learning achievement between students who apply the Window Shopping learning model and students who apply the Gallery Walk learning model in fourth-grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Ambarbinangun, and to determine the effectiveness of the Window Shopping learning model in teaching IPAS on the material of cultural diversity and local wisdom for fourth-grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Ambarbinangun. The type of research used in this study is experimental quantitative research with a Non-Equivalent Control Group design. The population of this study is 48, and the sample used consisted of 24 students from grade IV A as the control class using the Gallery Walk learning model and grade IV B as the experimental class using the Window Shopping learning model. The data collection methods used were observation and tests. The analysis techniques employed included prerequisite tests using normality tests and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using t-tests or difference tests with an Independent Sample T-Test. The results of this study concluded that the Window Shopping learning model is effective in improving students' learning achievement in the IV-grade Social Science (IPAS) subject, particularly in the material on cultural diversity and local wisdom. This can be demonstrated by the differences between the experimental class and the control class. The study results showed the average learning outcomes for the experimental class were 60.62 in the pretest and 72.5 in the posttest. Meanwhile, the learning outcomes for the control class were 38.12 in the pretest and 51.04 in the posttest. The data processing technique used the t-test with Independent Sample T-Test. The Window Shopping learning model is more effective with a Sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, education is required not only to produce academically excellent graduates but also individuals equipped with adequate life skills. This study aims to analyze curriculum management in enhancing students’ life skills at MA Sunan Ampel and MA Nurun Najah in Gerokgak, Buleleng, Bali. Life skills are essential in addressing the complexity of contemporary life challenges. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings revealed that the two madrasahs adopted different approaches in designing, implementing, and evaluating life skills-oriented curricula. MA Sunan Ampel emphasized vocational skill development such as automotive, tailoring, and screen printing, along with scouting activities as a means of character building. Meanwhile, MA Nurun Najah developed life skills through P5 activities (Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students), Islamic values habituation, and enhancement of digital competencies. The strategies applied by each institution were tailored to their respective social and geographical contexts. Challenges faced included limited human resources, inadequate facilities, and insufficient external support. This research offers both theoretical and practical contributions to the development of adaptive and contextual curriculum management aimed at producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also well-prepared for real-life challenge

Abstract

This research aims to examine how the fundamental concept of Islam, namely Rahmatan lil’alamin, is embodied within the framework of religious moderation according to the perspective of Nasarudin Umar. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. The primary source utilized is Nasarudin Umar's book titled Islam Nusantara: The Long Road of Religious Moderation in Indonesia, supported by other related literature. The findings indicate that Nasarudin Umar views Islam as inherently moderate, rejecting rigid textual interpretations that incite radicalism. He positions rahmatan lil’alamin as the universal essence of Islam and religious moderation as its direct manifestation, encompassing principles such as tawassuth (centrism), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and musawah (equality). The practical manifestations of his ideas are evident in his inclusive actions as the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque and in the implementation of curricula to build tolerance in educational institutions. Thus, Nasarudin Umar's thoughts offer significant academic and practical contributions to strengthening a peaceful, moderate, and relevant understanding of Islam in Indonesia's multicultural society. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using picture series media on the narrative writing skills of fourth-grade students at UPT SDN 006 Salo. The research employed a Quasi-Experimental Design with a quantitative approach, using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects of the study consisted of two classes: class IVA as the experimental group and class IVB as the control group, each comprising 18 students. The research instrument was a narrative writing test administered through pretest and posttest. The collected data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample T-Test with the assistance of SPSS version 24. The results revealed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of 0.011 < 0.05. The mean posttest score of the experimental class was 76.11, higher than the control class, which scored 60.83. This indicates that the use of picture series media had a positive and significant effect on improving students’ narrative writing skills. Therefore, picture series media can be used as an effective and engaging learning tool in Indonesian language learning, particularly to enhance students’ narrative writing abilities in elementary schools.

Abstract

Indonesian education is one of many in the world facing significant challenges in the world of education. The quality of education can be measured and demonstrated through several indicators, one of which is student interest in learning. A teacher's ability is crucial in conveying information to their students. However, many educators struggle to develop teaching and learning skills, which causes students to lose motivation and become slow in reviewing the material. Therefore, the problem to be examined in this research is, "Is there a significant relationship between teacher teaching skills and students' interest in learning social studies in Grade IV of Bekasi Jaya 1 Elementary School, East Bekasi District?" This research is a quantitative correlational study, aiming to analyze the relationship between teacher teaching skills and student learning interest in science. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire using the Guttman scale. The sample consisted of 39 students from a total population of 65 fourth-grade students, drawn by random sampling. To test the hypothesis, this study used a correlation test with a significance level of 10% (0.1). The results showed a positive relationship between teacher teaching skills and fourth-grade student learning interest at SDN Bekasi Jaya 1. The Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.504 and a significance value of 0.001 (ơ < 0.1). These findings emphasize the importance of developing teaching skills such as opening and closing lessons, providing varied learning, and effective classroom management to increase student interest and engagement in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Reading and Writing Literacy Guidebook for the PAUD–SD transition based on life skills to support early-grade students at SDN 106/IX Muaro Sebapo. The study employed the ADDIE development model consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The product was validated by material experts, media experts, and practitioners. The results showed that the expert validation of material aspects reached 91.2% (very valid), media validation reached 88.5% (valid), and practitioner validation reached 94.7% (very valid). During limited trials involving 20 first-grade students, the guidebook effectively increased students’ literacy performance. Pretest scores averaged 56.20, while posttest scores increased to 83.40, resulting in an N-Gain of 0.62 (moderate effectiveness). Furthermore, student responses reached 93% and teacher responses reached 95%, indicating that the guidebook is highly practical and feasible for classroom implementation. These findings conclude that the developed literacy guidebook is valid, practical, and effective to support PAUD–SD transition literacy strengthening.

Abstract

The pedagogical competence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers plays a strategic role in improving the quality of learning, particularly in developing students' Qur'an reading skills. The ability to read the Qur'an is a basic competency that students must possess as a foundation for understanding and practicing Islamic teachings. However, the reality in the field shows that there is still a gap between teachers' pedagogical competence and students' Qur'an reading abilities, especially in the aspects of lesson planning, the use of varied learning methods, classroom management, and the use of effective learning media. This study aims to analyze the pedagogical competence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in improving students' Qur'an reading abilities at Al-Falah Islamic Junior High School in Jambi City and identify the factors that influence it. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation with PAI teachers and students as research subjects. The results show that the improvement in Qur'an reading abilities is influenced by teachers' pedagogical competence, which includes effective lesson planning, the use of the talaqqi method, comprehensive assessment, and providing motivation through role models and a humanistic approach. The talaqqi method has proven effective through a process of imitating the teacher's reading, direct correction, and continuous repetition. Assessment is carried out not only on reading fluency, but also on the accuracy of pronunciation, application of tajweed, and understanding of meaning. Teacher pedagogical competence is influenced by internal factors, school environmental support, student characteristics, and the curriculum and educational policies. Continuous improvement of teacher competence through reflection, training, and the use of technology is key to success in developing students who are fluent in reading and love the Quran.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement the Mordiscvein learning model assisted by digital media based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) using Canva in the IPAS subject in the lower grades of SDN 5 Kabila Bone Bolango. The MORDISCVEIN model is the result of developing the output from a dissertation designed to enhance critical thinking skills and learning interest in elementary school students thru an interactive, creative, and contextual approach. This activity was carried out jointly with lecturers and 3A semester students of Elementary School Teacher Education at Gorontalo State University, involving 33 third-grade students. The results of the activity show that the implementation of the MORDISCVEIN model is able to increase students’ enthusiasm, active participation, and critical thinking skills thru project-based learning activities that utilize Canva as an AI-based digital medium. This activity makes a positive contribution to strengthening digital literacy and learning innovation in elementary schools. Keywords: Mordiscvein, AI, Canva, IPAS, Elementary School

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia requires schools to adopt flexible and student-centered learning models, including Project-Based Learning (PjBL). However, schools often face challenges related to teachers’ competence, curriculum understanding, and limited facilities. This study aims to analyze how SMAIT Ar-Rahmah Lumajang implements the Merdeka Curriculum through PjBL, focusing on planning, classroom practices, assessment mechanisms, and supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews with teachers and document analysis of the Kurikulum Satuan Pendidikan (KSP). Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s framework, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The results show that learning planning was conducted through the preparation of CP, ATP, and adaptable teaching modules that align with students’ needs. PjBL implementation involved collaborative investigation, problem-solving activities, and the presentation of project outcomes, with teachers acting as facilitators. Assessment was carried out through authentic and summative evaluation, including digital-based assessments that required adaptive solutions due to limited computer facilities, such as the use of school laptops, students’ mobile phones, and shift-based testing. Despite limited infrastructure, SMAIT Ar-Rahmah demonstrated increased student performance and significant progress in school quality, achieving accreditation improvement from C to A. The findings indicate that the success of PjBL within the Merdeka Curriculum is strongly influenced by teachers’ pedagogical competence, school adaptability, and community support rather than complete physical facilities.
