Abstract

This study aims to uncover the mindset of young children who actively use the social media platform TikTok in the context of the Society 5.0 era in Palembang City. The study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to gain an in-depth understanding of the subjective experiences of children aged 4–6 years in accessing and using TikTok. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of five children residing in Kelurahan 12 Ulu, Kecamatan Seberang Ulu II, Palembang City. The data analysis technique used in this study is the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. To ensure data validity, triangulation techniques were used, including source triangulation, method triangulation, and theory triangulation. This was done to ensure that the data obtained was truly reliable and reflected the reality on the ground. The research findings indicate that TikTok has an impact on the cognitive development of young children in the form of concrete, creative, and imaginative thinking patterns. Children show a tendency to imitate content, develop self-expression, and use language and movements that are popular on TikTok. Some children also show an increase in self-confidence and social skills. However, there are also negative impacts such as attachment to gadgets, the use of slang that is not age-appropriate, and the inability to distinguish between factual and entertainment content. The role of parents is crucial in guiding children to use TikTok in a positive manner. This study contributes to understanding the influence of social media on children's cognitive development and emphasizes the importance of control and education in the use of digital technology among young children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the Living Value Education Program (LVEP) in shaping the character of early childhood at Aisyiyah 11 Kindergarten in Palembang. Character education is very important to be instilled from an early age because this period is the golden age of child development, both physically, cognitively, and emotionally. The phenomenon of moral degradation such as individualism, lack of tolerance, and aggressive behaviour in children shows the need for an effective approach in shaping character from an early age. LVEP, as a values education program developed with the support of UNESCO, emphasizes universal values such as honesty, responsibility, tolerance, and peace. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of LVEP at TK Aisyiyah 11 is carried out through various integrated learning activities that incorporate life values. Teachers use a play-based learning approach, storytelling, discussions, and reflective activities to install these values. Positive impacts are evident in changes in children's behaviour, becoming more cooperative, responsible, and showing empathy toward peers. However, there are challenges in implementing LVEP, such as a lack of understanding among parents and inconsistency in the values taught at home. Overall, the implementation of LVEP has proven effective in shaping the character of young children and is recommended as an alternative approach to character education in early childhood education settings.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Wordwall-based interactive multimedia in enhancing listening skills for Subject–Predicate–Object–Description (SPOK) sentence patterns among grade III elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants consisted of 20 third-grade students from SDN Teluk Pucung I. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments, student response questionnaires, and expert validation sheets. Validation results indicated that the Wordwall media was classified as “very valid,” with scores of 95% from the material expert, 93.3% from the language expert, and 88.6% from the media expert. The media was implemented in classroom learning supported by a projector and involved quizzes and audio-based interactive listening activities. The N-Gain analysis showed an improvement of 0.46 (medium category). The paired sample t-test revealed a t-value of -10 with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. These findings demonstrate that the Wordwall media is effective in improving students’ listening skills, particularly in understanding SPOK sentence structures. This study recommends integrating interactive digital media into Indonesian language learning to create a more engaging, contextual, and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mathematics is one of the subjects studied at the elementary school level from lower to upper grades. In learning mathematics, critical thinking skills are needed in solving the given problems. For this reason, critical thinking skills are very necessary for learning mathematics. However, students' critical thinking skills in mathematics, especially in class IID, have not shown good results. The purpose of the research in this article is to improve the critical thinking skills of class IIID students in mathematics, the material for presenting data in tabular form at SDN Rawamangun 01 Pagi. This study uses the Kemmis and Taggart research model which consists of 4 stages, namely planning, implementation and observation and reflection. Researchers carry out learning actions with the cooperative learning model of the think pair share type. Data analysis that has been carried out shows an increase in students' critical thinking skills, after the implementation of the first cycle, the presentation of results was obtained at 46.16%, namely only eleven students who got a score above 70, meaning that students' critical thinking skills have not reached the specified target of 80%. Meanwhile, in the data from cycle 11, there was an increase to 82.60, namely there were 19 students who got a score above 70. This means that there was an increase of 36.44% which shows that the application of the think pair share type cooperative learning model can be said to be successful in improving students' critical thinking skills regarding data presentation material in tabular form.
