Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of group counseling services in improving the mental health of inmates at Class III Rangkasbitung Correctional Institution. Inmates are a vulnerable group who often experience psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress due to loss of freedom, separation from family, and limited activities in prison. The study applied a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach involving collaboration between researchers, officers, and inmates in identifying problems and designing interventions. A total of 26 inmates in early adulthood were selected using purposive sampling based on Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 21 (DASS-21) scores. Group counseling was implemented to facilitate emotional expression, self-awareness, and coping skills. The results showed a significant decrease in depression, anxiety, and stress levels after the intervention. Initially, several inmates were categorized into moderate and severe levels, but after the program all participants shifted into normal and mild categories. These findings indicate that group counseling creates social support, positive interaction, and constructive reflection that help inmates regulate emotions more effectively. The study concludes that group counseling is an effective psychological intervention and should be implemented continuously as part of correctional rehabilitation programs using a collaborative CBPR framework. Keywords: group counseling, mental health, inmates, DASS-21

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works and their short story writing ability among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Kakap. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The population of this study consisted of all eighth-grade students, totaling 30 students. Data were collected using a multiple-choice objective test consisting of 25 items to measure students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works, and one essay test item to assess students’ ability to write short stories. The results of data analysis indicate that: (1) the total score for mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works reached 23.76, with an average score per student of 79.20 from 30 respondents. This result shows that students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works falls into the good category; (2) the total score of students’ short story writing ability from the essay test reached 21.56, with an average score per student of 71.86, which is also classified as good; and (3) correlation analysis using the mean formula and Pearson product-moment correlation reveals that there is a relationship between mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works and students’ short story writing ability. The research data show that the calculated r-value is greater than the r-table value (0.4052 > 0.361), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works and their short story writing ability at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Kakap.

Abstract

study aims to examine the role of Civic Education (Pancasila and Citizenship Education) teachers in addressing the moral degradation of students at SMAN 2 Palembang. This research is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the role of Civic Education teachers in instilling moral values and contributing to the development of more positive student behavior. The study highlights the rapid development of the times and advances in technology, which have led to the emergence of behaviors indicating a decline in moral values within the school environment. This situation poses a particular challenge for Civic Education teachers in instilling moral values and shaping students’ character. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through triangulation techniques, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Civic Education teachers, the vice principal for student affairs, and students. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that Civic Education teachers at SMAN 2 Palembang have performed their roles optimally as motivators, friendly communicators, and mentors in addressing students’ moral degradation. The cultivation of moral values is carried out by integrating Pancasila values into every Civic Education learning material. Values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, and democratic attitudes are instilled through discussions, case studies, and reflections on events occurring in the surrounding environment. Civic Education teachers also provide role models in daily school life by acting fairly, respecting differences, and demonstrating behavior that aligns with moral values. These efforts have been shown to foster moral awareness and encourage positive behavioral changes among students

Abstract

In education, reading ability is a very important basic skill. However, not all students are able to master reading skills well, especially students who have dyslexia. Based on initial observations at SD Negeri 2 Sukamulya, it was found that several students had difficulty recognizing letters, arranging letters into words, and reading fluently, thus hampering the learning process. Therefore, learning media is needed that suits the characteristics of dyslexic students, one of which is through the use of Canva-based audio-visual media. This research aims to determine the characteristics of dyslexic students, describe the application of Canva audio-visual media, and analyze the effect of its use on improving the reading ability of dyslexic students at SD Negeri 2 Sukamulya. This research uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method and a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. The research subjects were five dyslexic students who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out through reading and observation tests, while data analysis used normality tests and hypothesis testing in the form of paired sample t-test. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in students' reading abilities after being given treatment using Canva audio-visual media. The average pretest score of 38 increased to 52 on the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test show a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.033 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Canva-based audio-visual media has a significant effect on improving the reading ability of dyslexic students at SD Negeri 2 Sukamulya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing interactive E-LKPD (Electronic Learning and Teaching Materials) on hyperbole based on the Make a Match cooperative model in grade V of SD Negeri 1 Gulang. The underlying problem of this study is that the learning process of hyperbole still tends to use printed LKPD that is monotonous, less interactive, and ineffective in helping students understand the abstract concept of hyperbole. This situation has an impact on the low level of mastery and participation of students in Indonesian language lessons as well as the limitations of teachers in creating new and innovative digital learning media. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects in this study consisted of one fifth-grade teacher and 30 students. Data collection techniques included interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis, while data analysis followed the model designed by Miles and Huberman, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study indicate that both teachers and students have a high need for interactive E-LKPD equipped with images, colors, animations, and interactive exercises based on the Make a Match model. The availability of digital facilities and infrastructure in schools also supports the implementation of interactive E-LKPD. Thus, the development of interactive E-LKPD based on the Make a Match model is considered vital and appropriate for improving

Abstract

Learning Akidah Akhlak in madrasahs still faces challenges in the form of low student participation and activeness due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods. This condition highlights the need for learning innovations that can create interactive, collaborative, and engaging learning environments. One alternative approach is the use of digital learning media such as Wordwall combined with the Team Based Learning (TBL) model. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design conducted at MTs Al-Hidayah Lampung. The research subjects consisted of Akidah Akhlak teachers and students in the observed class. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that lesson planning was conducted by preparing lesson plans that integrated Wordwall media with the stages of the TBL model. The learning implementation proceeded systematically through teamwork, group discussions, and Wordwall-based evaluation activities, which enhanced students’ activeness, collaboration, and learning enthusiasm. Learning evaluation covered cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, showing an improvement in students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, the implementation of Wordwall media within the Team Based Learning model contributes positively to the process and outcomes of Akidah Akhlak learning

Abstract

Due to limited space, social pressure, and inadequate psychological services,Rangkasbitung Class III Correctional Facility experiences approximately 200%overcrowding (321 inmates compared to a capacity of 100), highlighting the urgentneed for a mental health strengthening program. This community service initiativeaimed to implement classical guidance services to reduce inmates’ stress, anxiety, and depression. The program was conducted from September to December usinga Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach through needsassessment, collaborative planning, service implementation, and evaluation. ADASS-21 assessment was administered to 70 early-adult inmates; 32 inmates wereselected as the sample, and pretest–posttest evaluation was analyzed for 26inmates who completed the entire program. The results showed a significant changein categories, where in the posttest all participants were in the normal-moderatecategory (100%) for depression, anxiety, and stress, and no longer found the severeor very severe categories. These findings indicate that classical guidance services, supported by group activities and counseling, effectively strengthen inmates’emotional regulation and coping strategies and are relevant to be developed as asustainable mental health development program in correctional settings.
