Abstract

This classroom action research addresses low student motivation and learning outcomes in Social Studies at SMPN 13 Madiun, where traditional teaching methods resulted in monotonous learning experiences. The study aims to describe the implementation process, examine motivation improvement, and assess learning outcome enhancement through Quizizz Mode Kertas educational game media. Employing collaborative classroom action research over two cycles from June to November 2025, this study involved 32 eighth-grade students. Data collection utilized observation, documentation, and tests, analyzed through quantitative and qualitative approaches. Findings reveal significant improvements: student motivation increased from 47% (moderate) in Cycle I to 68% (high) in Cycle II, a 21% enhancement. Learning activity progressed from adequate (11.09) to good (16.84). Classical completeness improved dramatically from 46.9% pre-cycle to 63% in Cycle I, reaching 84% in Cycle II, surpassing the 80% target. Quizizz Mode Kertas effectively creates dynamic, interactive learning while maintaining gamification elements without requiring personal digital devices. Recommendations include broader implementation across subjects, improved time management, difficulty adjustments, institutional support, and further research in diverse contexts to maximize learning quality.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the issue of low independence and responsibility observed among Group B1 students at TK ‘Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 1 Kota Madiun. Initial observations indicated that most children relied heavily on teacher assistance for daily activities and lacked awareness regarding their tasks. This study aims to enhance these character traits by implementing the Positive Discipline approach, a method that emphasizes understanding and self-awareness without resorting to punishment. The study employed Collaborative Classroom Action Research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted over two cycles. The subjects involved were 17 students from Group B1. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation, which were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in each cycle. In the pre-cycle condition, the average level of independence and responsibility was only 25.46%. After implementing Positive Discipline through class agreements in Cycle I, these figures rose to 53% for independence and 54.8% for responsibility. By Cycle II, the scores surged to 88.23% for both traits, successfully exceeding the established success indicators. It can be concluded that the application of Positive Discipline is effective in building independence and responsibility in early childhood, while simultaneously creating a more enjoyable and meaningful learning Atmosphere.

Abstract

This study addresses the gap between cognitive-oriented Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning and the internalization of religious character and tolerance attitudes among students. In many classrooms, IRE learning still emphasizes conceptual understanding rather than lived experience, resulting in limited religious practice and social tolerance in daily interactions. This research aims to describe the implementation of the Experiential Learning strategy in IRE learning and analyze its role in strengthening students’ religious character and fostering tolerance attitudes. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at a public junior high school in Bandar Lampung. Research participants consisted of IRE teachers and eighth-grade students. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that Experiential Learning was implemented through stages of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. This strategy effectively enhanced students’ religious character, including worship awareness, honesty, responsibility, and social care. Furthermore, it contributed to the development of tolerance attitudes, particularly internal religious tolerance, as reflected in respectful interactions, appreciation of differing opinions, and improved emotional control. The study concludes that Experiential Learning is an effective instructional strategy for Islamic Religious Education oriented toward character building and social attitude development.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) represent Islamic educational institutions that possess a distinctive nurturing system in shaping students’ character in a holistic and sustainable manner. One of the fundamental values that forms the core of pesantren education is the Panca Jiwa, which consists of sincerity, simplicity, self-reliance, Islamic brotherhood, and fighting spirit. Amid the challenges of globalization, digitalization, and increasing moral complexity among younger generations, a well-structured and continuous nurturing management system is required to ensure that these values are effectively internalized in students’ daily lives. This study aims to analyze nurturing management in the formation of Panca Jiwa character at Al-Basyariyah Islamic Boarding School, Cigondewah, focusing on the aspects of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up within the student nurturing process. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with pesantren leaders, the director of student nurturing, teachers, and student administrators, as well as documentation analysis. The findings indicate that nurturing management at Al-Basyariyah Islamic Boarding School is implemented systematically and is deeply rooted in pesantren culture, involving all elements of the boarding school community. The internalization of Panca Jiwa values is realized through religious habituation, daily discipline, student independence, literacy programs, and the exemplary conduct of caregivers. Evaluation is conducted through both formal and informal mechanisms and is reinforced by the practice of muhasabah as a form of spiritual reflection. This study concludes that nurturing management integrated with pesantren culture is effective in shaping students’ Panca Jiwa character and has strong potential to serve as a contextual and sustainable model of community-based character education. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keefektifan penggunaan media kumpulan bilangan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika, khususnya pada materi penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan cacah, pada peserta didik kelas II SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 51 peserta didik kelas II SD yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Kelas II A sebagai kelompok eksperimen diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan media kantong bilangan, sedangkan kelas II B sebagai kelompok kontrol memperoleh pembelajaran dengan media garis bilangan. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan melalui tes yang diberikan kepada peserta didik. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis melalui uji prasyarat yang meliputi uji normalitas dan homogenitas, serta uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa media kantong bilangan memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika peserta didik. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata pretest dan posttest pada kelas eksperimen, yaitu dari 46,3 menjadi 85,7, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol meningkat dari 46,7 menjadi 76,6. Nilai signifikansi uji t sebesar 0,000 (< 0,05) menunjukkan bahwa media kumpulan bilangan lebih efektif dibandingkan media garis bilangan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika peserta didik pada materi penjumlahan dan pengurangan.

Abstract

Differentiated Instruction is a pedagogical approach that focuses on adjusting teaching and learning processes based on students’ readiness levels, interests, and learning styles. This study aims to examine teacher and student readiness, identify various constraints emerging during its implementation, and analyze the impact of Differentiated Instruction within the elementary school environment. The research methodology employed a quantitative approach with a causal design through survey techniques. The research subjects consisted of 4 teachers and 49 students from grades V and VI at UPTD SD Inpres Liliba, Kupang City. Data were collected using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire instrument and subsequently analyzed through descriptive statistics using SPSS software.The results of the study indicate that the readiness levels of both teachers and students fall within the moderate to very good categories, although some respondents still demonstrate sub-optimal readiness, particularly regarding the development of flexible lesson plans. Obstacles in the implementation of differentiated learning were found to be at a moderate level. The primary challenges identified include the wide disparity in students’ cognitive abilities, time constraints in preparing diverse teaching materials, and the complexity of classroom management when facilitating different groups simultaneously. Nevertheless, the implementation of Differentiated Instruction yields a highly positive impact on learning quality. This impact is evidenced by significant increases in learning motivation, sharper conceptual understanding, active participation, and enhanced student self-confidence in completing independent tasks. These findings confirm that differentiated instruction is effective in supporting inclusive education oriented toward individual student needs. Furthermore, this practice aligns with the spirit of the Kurikulum Merdeka implementation, which emphasizes educators’ flexibility in creating relevant and contextual learning experiences in elementary schools. ​Keywords: Differentiated Instruction, teacher and student readiness, learning obstacles, impact of learning, elementary school.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to develop a character-based learning model for teaching profession courses at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Muslim Indonesia (UMI). The problems identified in this study are the dominance of cognitive learning orientation and the lack of integration of character values in the research process. The method used is research and development. This research and development adopts the modified Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel model through four stages, namely the definition stage, the design stage, the development stage, and the dissemination stage. The results showed that the developed learning tools, including lesson plans and textbooks, student worksheets, and learning outcome tests that integrated character values, met the criteria for content and construct validity with excellent average scores. Validation by experts and practitioners showed that the learning tools were valid and suitable for use. Limited trials proved that the application of the character-based learning model was able to increase student engagement and foster values of responsibility, discipline, and curiosity. Thus, this model is effective as an alternative to teacher training that not only emphasizes mastery of material but also the character building of prospective educators. Abstract

This study aims to analyse the creative thinking abilities of students influenced by the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in the coordination system material for Grade XI at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City, in May 2025 during the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is a quasi-experiment with a pretest–posttest control group design. The research population included all 142 Grade XI students at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. Samples were selected randomly, with Grade XI4 as the experimental class and Grade XI8 as the control class. The research parameter was students' creative thinking skills, which were measured through four indicators, namely fluent thinking, flexible thinking, original thinking, and detailed thinking. Data collection techniques used multiple-choice test questions, observation sheets, and product assessment sheets. Data analysis techniques included instrument feasibility testing, prerequisite testing, and independent t-testing. The results showed a Sig value of 0.01 < 0.05 and a t-count of 7.580 > t-table = 1.667, so H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that using the Project Based Learning model can improve the creative thinking abilities of grade XI students at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh mlodel pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan video terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Administrasi Umum di SMK Negeri 7 MedanLatar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa serta kurangnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran yang variatif dan menarik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experiment dan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas XI MPLB 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL berbantuan video dan kelas XI MPLB 1 sebagai kelas kontrol yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample t-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL berbantuan video berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Nilai rata-rata pre-test kelas eksperimen sebesar 59,43 meningkat menjadi 83,31 pada post-test, sedangkan kelas kontrol hanya meningkat dari 58,82 menjadi 71,88. Nilai signifikansi uji-t < 0,05 yang berarti H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Selain itu, model PBL berbantuan video juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Rata-rata nilai pre-test kelas eksperimen sebesar 60,25 meningkat menjadi 80,14 pada post-test, sedangkan kelas kontrol meningkat dari 59,32 menjadi 69,77. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi < 0,05, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model PBL berbantuan video efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media in the digital era has led emerging adults to be increasingly exposed to achievement-oriented content, including academic accomplishments, career success, and personal achievements. Such exposure frequently elicits upward social comparison, which may, in turn, intensify tendencies toward self-criticism. However, self-compassion is widely regarded as a protective factor that can mitigate these negative effects. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the relationship between self-compassion and self-criticism among emerging adults who are exposed to achievement-related content on social media. The participants consisted of 189 individuals aged 18–29 years who actively use social media and have previously encountered achievement-related content. Data were collected online using the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and the Forms of Self-Criticizing/Attacking and Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS). Subsequently, data analysis was conducted using Spearman’s correlation. The results revealed a strong and significant negative relationship between self-compassion and self-criticism (ρ = –0.600, p < .001). In other words, higher levels of self-compassion were associated with lower tendencies toward self-criticism. Overall, these findings underscore the crucial role of self-compassion as an important protective factor against the negative psychological impacts of exposure to achievement-related content on social media. Accordingly, this study is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of interventions aimed at enhancing self-compassion in order to strengthen the mental health of emerging adults in the digital era.
