Abstract

This study investigates learning discipline among upper-grade elementary students at SD Negeri 37 Pekanbaru and tests whether discipline differs by gender and parents’ occupation. A cross-sectional quantitative survey was administered to 166 Grade 4–5 students (academic year 2025/2026) selected through random sampling. Learning discipline was measured using a Likert-type questionnaire covering four dimensions: compliance with school rules, compliance with learning activities at school, compliance in completing assignments, and compliance with learning activities at home; teacher interviews were used as supporting information. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent-samples t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Overall, students’ learning discipline was predominantly in the high category (M = 87.64); the highest dimension was compliance with school rules, whereas compliance with learning activities at school was comparatively lower. No statistically significant differences were found by gender (p = .061) or parents’ occupation (p = .336). These findings suggest that strengthening consistent routines and classroom management may be more impactful than focusing on demographic differences.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences and the effect of implementing the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model assisted by the Wheel Of Time media on students’ mathematical concept understanding in Grade II of SD Negeri Lemahireng 01. The research problem is based on students’ low conceptual understanding, indicated by difficulties in explaining, comparing, and applying mathematical concepts, which are caused by teacher-centered learning and the limited use of interactive learning media. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of two classes: Class II A as the experimental group, which applied the TPS model assisted by the Wheel Of Time media, and Class II B as the control group, which applied the TPS model without media. Data were collected through concept understanding tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed a significant difference in students’ conceptual understanding between the experimental and control groups. Furthermore, the regression analysis indicated that the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model assisted by the Wheel Of Time media had a significant effect on improving students’ mathematical concept understanding. The implementation of this learning model increased student activeness, encouraged learning interactions, and helped students understand mathematical concepts more concretely and meaningfully. Therefore, the Think Pair Share learning model assisted by the Wheel Of Time media is effective in improving mathematical concept understanding among Grade II elementary school students.

Abstract

IPAS learning in elementary schools is still dominated by conventional methods with limited learning media, causing students to be passive and show low learning interest. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the JELITA game-based Accordion Book in improving fourth-grade students’ learning interest in Indonesian cultural heritage material. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The implementation used a one-group pretest–posttest design with 31 students. Data were collected through expert validation, learning interest questionnaires, and teacher and student responses. The results indicated that the media is highly valid (Aiken’s V = 0.97 for material experts and 0.96 for media experts), very practical (teacher response 100% and students 97%), and effective in improving learning interest. The mean score increased from 55.65 (pretest) to 93.81 (posttest), with Wilcoxon test significance of 0.000 (<0.05). Therefore, the JELITA game-based Accordion Book is appropriate as a concrete, interactive, and contextual IPAS learning media.

Abstract

This qualitative case study aims to describe the application of the talaqqi sama‘ method in improving Quranic reading skills at Ma'had Tahfidz Al-Abdia Thailand. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers (musyrif) and students (santri), and documentation analysis. The results show that the learning interaction built through this method is direct, intensive, and communicative, allowing for optimal guidance and correction. The implementation follows systematic stages: listening (sama‘), imitation (talaqqi), correction (tashhih), and recitation (tasmi‘), emphasizing auditory-based learning and direct modeling from teacher to student. The talaqqi sama‘ method proved effective in improving students' Quranic reading skills, particularly in the accuracy of makhraj (articulation points), application of tajwid rules, reading fluency, and the formation of learning discipline and adab (ethics). This study confirms the relevance of classical Islamic learning methods in modern educational contexts and provides a practical model for Islamic boarding schools (ma'had) that wish to maintain the authenticity of Quranic transmission while improving reading skills.

Abstract

Elementary school learning faces challenges in creating an effective and enjoyable learning atmosphere. This study aims to explore the implementation of the singing and learning model using children's songs as a communication medium in elementary school learning, which includes: (1) teachers' understanding and perceptions of the concept of children's songs as language or communication tools; (2) implementation and practice of the learning model; (3) impacts and challenges faced; and (4) evaluation and development recommendations. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through in-depth interviews with teachers at SDIT Mutiara Insan. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results show that teachers understand children's songs as effective educational communication tools, not merely entertainment. Implementation is carried out by selecting songs according to the material and integrating them into learning explanations. Positive impacts are evident in increased motivation, student activeness, focus, and the creation of a pleasant classroom atmosphere. However, there are challenges in selecting appropriate songs, material integration, and attracting student interest. For optimization, collaboration among teachers, pedagogical skills training, institutional support, and integration with other learning approaches are needed. The singing and learning model has proven to be an effective and enjoyable alternative learning strategy for implementation in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe Qur’anic learning strategies based on the tahsin approach in improving the quality of students’ Qur’an recitation at Bumrungsuksa Islamic Boarding School (BIS) Hat Yai, Thailand. The background of this research is rooted in the importance of accurate articulation of makharij al-huruf, mastery of letter characteristics, and correct application of tajwid rules in Qur’an recitation, particularly in Islamic boarding school–based educational institutions. Inaccuracies in these aspects may affect the quality of students’ recitation; therefore, structured, consistent, and continuous learning strategies are required. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the implementation of the International Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata Internasional / KKNI). The researcher was directly involved in tahsin learning activities, including student mentoring, observation of the learning process, and evaluation of Qur’an recitation. The findings indicate that tahsin learning at BIS Hat Yai is implemented intensively and continuously through the application of talaqqi, recitation submission, and habituation of Qur’an reading at specific times, such as after Subuh prayer, before Dhuhr, and before Maghrib. The learning process is further strengthened by intensive guidance provided by teachers and KKNI students. Supporting factors include a conducive boarding school system, consistent learning schedules, and high student motivation. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consist of differences in students’ initial recitation abilities, limited number of tahsin teachers, and language barriers. Problem-solving efforts include grouping students based on their recitation proficiency, strengthening the role of learning companions, and adjusting learning methods. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of tahsin-based Qur’anic learning strategies in Islamic educational institutions.
