Abstract

Semantic relations in literary works play a crucial role in shaping the meaning of polysemous words, which function not only semantically but also aesthetically and rhetorically. One poet renowned for rich wordplay is Christian Morgenstern, whose poems employ humor, irony, and absurdity through the use of homonymy and polysemy. This study aims to describe semantic relations involving homonymy and polysemy based on their semantic features. Using a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in Geoffrey Leech’s semantic theory, the findings reveal that homonymy in Morgenstern’s poetry manifests in words whose meanings are contextually interrelated. From a semantic perspective, polysemy represents the extension of related meanings, allowing a single lexical item to generate multiple interpretations. These phenomena not only highlight the lexical richness of the German language but also produce layered aesthetic and rhetorical effects. Thus, semantic analysis of homonymy and polysemy reveals the complex structures of meaning embedded in Christian Morgenstern’s poetry

Abstract

The preservation of Acehnese culture is a crucial part of efforts to maintain the sustainability of local identity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Amidst the increasingly strong currents of globalization and modernization, basic education plays a strategic role as a vehicle for transmitting cultural values, norms, and practices to the younger generation. This article aims to analyze the role of educational anthropology in preserving Acehnese culture through learning in elementary schools. The educational anthropology approach provides a conceptual foundation for understanding the relationship between culture, the learning process, and the formation of student character. This research uses a literature review method by reviewing various scientific sources, including journal articles, books, and research findings related to educational anthropology, culture-based basic education, and the preservation of local culture, particularly in Aceh. The study results indicate that integrating Acehnese cultural values into elementary school learning can strengthen students' cultural identity, increase the relevance of learning, and encourage the formation of character rooted in local values such as religiosity, togetherness, and social wisdom. Educational anthropology plays a role in providing an analytical framework for contextualizing learning, avoiding cultural homogenization, and ensuring that education serves as a means of sustainable cultural preservation. This article is expected to make theoretical and practical contributions to the development of basic education that is sensitive to Aceh's local culture.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the importance of mastering discussion text writing in Indonesian language learning at the junior secondary level, which requires cohesive and coherent organization of ideas. However, texts produced by learners still demonstrate weaknesses in semantic continuity and logical argumentation. This study aims to identify the forms and tendencies of lexical cohesion, grammatical cohesion, and coherence relations in discussion texts written by Grade IX E and IX F students of SMP Negeri 110 Jakarta. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with 24 discussion texts selected from 65 student compositions as the data source. Data were analyzed using reading–note-taking techniques, followed by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that lexical cohesion is predominantly realized through repetition (349 out of 631 data), while grammatical cohesion is mainly expressed through conjunctions (229 out of 451 data) and references. In terms of coherence, additive relations (125 out of 298 data) and causal relations (100 data) are the most dominant patterns, whereas temporal, chronological, and sequential relations are relatively limited. These findings indicate that learners tend to rely on explicit markers and linear idea development in constructing arguments. This study provides empirical contributions to strengthening instructional strategies for teaching discussion text writing, particularly in promoting varied logical relations and conceptual coherence to produce more systematic and argumentative texts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the local wisdom values contained in the menyumbun tradition and its relevance to Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning in Grade IV of elementary school. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews with community leaders and elementary school teachers, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that the menyumbun tradition contains ecological, social, educational, and spiritual values. Ecological values are reflected in environmental conservation practices and sustainable resource use. Social values are shown through cooperation and solidarity among community members. Educational values appear in the intergenerational transmission of knowledge through experiential learning. Spiritual values are demonstrated in gratitude and religious awareness in utilizing natural resources. Furthermore, the tradition aligns with IPAS learning objectives in Phase B of the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly in ecosystem concepts, natural resource utilization, environmental conservation, and social interaction. Therefore, the menyumbun tradition has strong potential as a contextual and local wisdom-based learning resource in elementary education.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology and the increasing complexity of 21st-century educational challenges require adjustments in various aspects of learning, including history education. The problems occurring in history learning have resulted in low student achievement in comprehensively understanding historical material. This study aims to (1) develop the Unhistor (UNO History) card game media for the topic of the Indonesian National Movement; (2) determine the feasibility of the media; and (3) examine its effectiveness in improving the history learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students at SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, expert validation, as well as pretest and posttest assessments. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using feasibility percentages and N-Gain calculations. The results indicate that the Unhistor card game media falls into the “Very Feasible” category. Validation by material experts reached 88%, while media experts gave 94%. Student responses in the small-group trial reached 87.4%, and in the large-group trial 92.1%, both categorized as “Very Feasible.” In terms of effectiveness, in the small-group trial the average pretest score of 47 increased to 82.66 with an N-Gain of 0.67 (moderate category), while in the large-group trial the average pretest score of 48.2 increased to 85.1 with an N-Gain of 0.71 (high category). Therefore, the Unhistor card game media has proven to be highly feasible and effective in improving learning outcomes, motivation, and student engagement in history learning.
