Abstract

This study examines the contribution of spatial reasoning and working memory to junior high school students’ mathematics achievement. Mathematics learning at the secondary level requires not only procedural skills but also cognitive abilities that support visualization, information processing, and problem solving. Many students experience difficulties when mathematical tasks demand abstract thinking and multi-step reasoning. These difficulties are often related to limitations in spatial reasoning and working memory. The purpose of this research is to analyze the partial and simultaneous contributions of spatial reasoning and working memory to students’ mathematics achievement. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto design was employed. The study was conducted at MTs Mualimin NWDI Pancor during the 2025/2026 academic year. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students, and a sample of one hundred students was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through spatial reasoning tests, working memory tests, and mathematics achievement tests. The instruments were validated by experts and tested for reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, assumption tests, and multiple linear regression. The results indicate that spatial reasoning has a positive and significant effect on mathematics achievement, while working memory does not show a significant partial effect. However, both variables together contribute meaningfully to students’ mathematics achievement. These findings suggest that mathematics learning should emphasize the development of spatial reasoning skills alongside strategies that help students manage cognitive load. Integrating visual representations and structured problem-solving activities may enhance learning outcomes and support students’ mathematical understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how goals are created in the women's football branch of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris through video analysis with an observational descriptive approach. All goals are analyzed thoroughly by reviewing the type of attack, the tactical context, the location of the opportunity, and the form of the final finish. Data is collected from full match footage, highlight footage and official statistics, and then processed descriptively to map out the attack patterns and zones that contribute the most to the goal. The results of the analysis showed that open play was the main source of goals with a percentage of 67.10%, followed by set-piece situations such as free kicks (13.16%) and corner kicks (9.21%). In terms of finalization areas, the penalty box (area 17) emerged as the most decisive zone with a contribution of 76.31%, while area 14 outside the penalty box accounted for 22.37%. These findings confirm that effective open attacks including neat build-ups, dynamic player movements, and space utilization in the final third area are dominant factors in goal creation. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for coaches and analysts in developing offensive strategies and training programs that are more in line with the characteristics of the modern women's football game.

Abstract

Semantic relations in literary works play a crucial role in shaping the meaning of polysemous words, which function not only semantically but also aesthetically and rhetorically. One poet renowned for rich wordplay is Christian Morgenstern, whose poems employ humor, irony, and absurdity through the use of homonymy and polysemy. This study aims to describe semantic relations involving homonymy and polysemy based on their semantic features. Using a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in Geoffrey Leech’s semantic theory, the findings reveal that homonymy in Morgenstern’s poetry manifests in words whose meanings are contextually interrelated. From a semantic perspective, polysemy represents the extension of related meanings, allowing a single lexical item to generate multiple interpretations. These phenomena not only highlight the lexical richness of the German language but also produce layered aesthetic and rhetorical effects. Thus, semantic analysis of homonymy and polysemy reveals the complex structures of meaning embedded in Christian Morgenstern’s poetry
