Abstract

This research was triggered by the low speaking skills of students in the Indonesian language subject of grade IV of Permata Topaz Elementary School which is characterized by a lack of courage to express opinions, limited use of vocabulary, and inappropriate pronunciation and intonation. One solution to overcome this problem is to use the Story Based Learning learning model. This research aims to improve students' speaking skills in the Indonesian language subject with fairy tales. The research method is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is implemented in two cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings and four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research time was carried out in November 2025. Data collection techniques include documentation, observation, and tests. The subjects of this study were 26 fourth-grade students, consisting of 12 male students and 14 female students. The data analysis techniques in this study were descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of this study showed an increase in students' speaking skills during the pre-action of 34.61%, then in cycle I meeting I increased to 50%, and cycle I meeting II increased to 65.38%. Furthermore, in cycle II meeting I increased to 80.76%, and cycle II meeting II increased to 88.46%. Thus, it can be concluded that using the Story Based Learning learning model can improve students' speaking skills in Indonesian language learning in grade IV of Permata Topaz Elementary School.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the contextual approach in teaching historical narrative texts and to examine its influence on elementary students’ critical thinking skills. The research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Kupang involving 23 sixth-grade students using a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that connecting historical content with students’ daily experiences increases their learning interest, active participation, and critical thinking abilities. The teacher acts as a facilitator who encourages idea exploration and discussion, and despite limited learning facilities, students are still able to analyze facts and relate them to local social and cultural values. Overall, the use of a contextual learning approach provides more meaningful learning experiences and contributes to the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills at the elementary level.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has implications for changes in educational practices, including the provision of guidance and counseling (BK) services in schools. At the junior high school (SMP) level, students are in the early adolescent phase, characterized by the interconnectedness of academic, social, and emotional development, thus requiring comprehensive and sustainable support services. The use of digital media is considered a relevant strategy to increase the adaptability of guidance and counseling services in accordance with the dynamics of current educational developments. This article aims to conceptually analyze the integration of digital media in guidance and counseling services as an effort to support the strengthening of holistic education in junior high schools. The research uses a literature review method with a conceptual qualitative approach through a review of accredited national journal articles, scientific reference books, and relevant educational policy documents. The results of the analysis indicate that the integration of digital media in BK services has the potential to increase service accessibility, encourage student engagement, and expand the sustainability of counseling support in a preventive and developmental context. However, the implementation of digital media in BK services in schools still tends to be fragmented and has not been systematically integrated within a holistic educational framework. Therefore, this article offers a conceptual framework for digital media integration in guidance and counseling services as a reference for school counselors and educational stakeholders in developing guidance and counseling services that are more contextual and oriented towards the developmental needs of junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 016 Bukit Ranah, Kampar District, through the implementation of Polya’s instructional model. The research method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 students, comprising 7 boys and 8 girls, in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation, with qualitative analysis used for learning activities and quantitative analysis for students’ problem-solving test results. The findings revealed an improvement in students’ classical mastery at each stage. In Cycle I, Meeting 1, the classical mastery rate was 40%, which increased to 53% in Meeting 2. In Cycle II, Meeting 1, it rose to 87% and further increased to 93% by the end of Cycle II. This improvement indicates that Polya’s instructional model is effective in helping students understand problems, formulate solutions, carry out problem-solving steps, and draw conclusions. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of Polya’s instructional model can significantly enhance the mathematical problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 016 Bukit Ranah.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the effect of rainfall on fish catch yields in Nagari Kambang Barat, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The main research problems include differences in fish catch yields between the rainy and dry seasons, as well as the factors influencing fish catches during periods of high rainfall. The objectives of this study are to determine the effect of rainfall on fish catch yields, to analyze differences in catch yields between the rainy and dry seasons, and to identify the factors affecting fish catch yields in Nagari Kambang Barat, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research employs a mixed-methods approach. The population consists of all fisherman households (heads of households) in Nagari Kambang Barat, totaling 158 households. A sample of 61 households was selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with relevant stakeholders. The results show that, based on the ANOVA test, the F value obtained was 11.845 with a significance level of 0.041, indicating that rainfall has a statistically significant effect on fish catch yields in Nagari Kambang Barat, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Excessive rainfall negatively affects fishing activities, as prolonged rainfall prevents fishermen from going to sea due, to high waves and strong winds, which pose safety risks. Perception analysis indicates that 73% of fishermen strongly agree that rainfall influences fish catch yields, classified as a “very good” Total Criterion Rate (TCR). Factors influencing fish catch yields include marine environmental conditions, wave and current dynamics, fish feeding patterns and migration, operational difficulties, and limited fishing time. To maintain stable fish catch yields during both the rainy and dry seasons, fishermen are encouraged to observe natural signs such as wind direction, cloud formations, and sea conditions, and to utilize weather information from local radio and village authorities to support safer and more effective fishing decisions.

Abstract

Fractions are one of the basic principles in mathematics that have many applications in the real world. One of the problems in everyday life that is an application of fractional numbers is dividing cakes or pieces of fruit into equal amounts. So with the existence of fractional learning materials, it is hoped that students will be able to adapt a problem in everyday life with fractional learning. However, students' perceptions of mathematics as a difficult and boring subject make this subject the most feared by many elementary school students, so that it will have an impact on students' abilities that are far from expectations. This study used the Didactic Design Research (DDR) method with a qualitative approach. By adding attractive colors and images, students become more interested in learning about fractional operations. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of students in calculating the number of breads and watermelons that are still left as shown in the picture. Of course, with the increasing interest of students in following the learning material, it will increase students' ability to understand a learning material. Thus it can be concluded that students can more easily understand fractional operations if they use interesting media such as fractional wheel media.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss bullying prevention using the concept of tazkiyatun nafs (self-purification) in Islamic religious education. Therefore, this study uses a qualitative method with a library approach. Therefore, the researcher uses references relevant to this study to ensure the results are in accordance with the desired results. The results of this study indicate that tazkiyatun nafs is the process of purifying the soul by carrying out all of Allah's commands and avoiding all His prohibitions. Therefore, there are three methods used: Takhalli, or removing and cleansing our souls from bad traits; Tahalli, or infusing and adorning our souls with praiseworthy qualities; and Tajalli, or the results of the takhalli and tajalli processes so that we feel close to Allah SWT. Therefore, the most fundamental tool used in this concept is prayer. Therefore, the conclusion is that tazkiyatun nafs has a very positive influence in preventing bullying in Islamic religious education

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between abdominal muscle strength and leg muscle strength with the accuracy of long passing in 14-year-old players of Pesawat Putra Football School (SSB) in Jombang Regency. The method applied is a quantitative descriptive approach aimed at describing and assessing the connection between the variables of abdominal muscle strength, leg muscle strength, and long passing accuracy of the players using a correlational study design. There were 21 players who participated in this study, selected purposively. The tools used to collect data consisted of a 30-second sit-up test to assess abdominal muscle strength, a standing long jump test to measure leg muscle strength, and a long passing accuracy test to evaluate technical ability. The results of the correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between abdominal muscle strength and long passing accuracy (r = 0.790; p = 0.000), and also between Leg muscle strength is correlated with long passing accuracy (r = 0.577; p = 0.024). In addition, the multiple correlation test yielded a significant value of 0.003, indicating a meaningful relationship between the two variables of muscle strength and long passing accuracy. Thus, it can be concluded that abdominal and leg muscle strength significantly contribute to improving long passing accuracy among SSB Pesawat Putra KU-14 players in Jombang Regency.

Abstract

Writing a thesis in English remains a challenging task for EFL students, particularly in achieving grammatical accuracy, appropriate word choice, and clarity of expression in academic writing. To address these challenges, many students rely on technological tools such as Grammarly to support their writing process. This quantitative descriptive research aimed to examine perceptions of English Study Program students on using Grammarly in thesis writing. The population of the research was the fourth year students who use Grammarly in writing their theses. Then, a total of 56 students met the criteria to be chosen as the sample. Data were collected through questionnaire distribution and then data is processed through descriptive statistical analysis. Based on data analysis it was found out that students have positive perception of using Grammarly in writing theses. Grammarly was perceived useful in improving grammatical accuracy, spelling, and punctuation, as well as easy to access. Despite the positive perceptions, the findings also revealed that Grammarly has limitations in supporting content development and idea organization. Therefore, it is suggested that Grammarly be used only as a complementary tool alongside lecturers’ guidance and students’ critical revision skills in the thesis writing process.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the constitutionality of non-state symbolic expressions in the Indonesian legal system through a normative study of the phenomenon of flying the One Piece flag ahead of the anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in 2025. This phenomenon has sparked public debate regarding the limits of freedom of expression and the state's authority in maintaining public order and state symbolism. This study uses a qualitative approach based on normative legal research with a document study design. Data was obtained through the search and analysis of primary legal materials in the form of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, laws and regulations related to human rights, and Constitutional Court decisions, as well as secondary legal materials in the form of books and scientific journal articles discussing freedom of expression, symbolic expression, and the principle of proportionality. Data analysis was conducted thematically and argumentatively using the proportionality test as a framework for evaluating constitutional rights restrictions. The results of the study show normative ambiguity in the regulation of non-state symbolic expression and a tendency to apply restrictions based on state interests without consistent application of the proportionality test. These findings confirm that non-state symbolic expression is part of non-verbal freedom of expression that deserves constitutional protection. Theoretically, this research strengthens the development of constitutional law studies on constitutional rights restrictions, while practically providing normative references for the formulation of more proportional and democratic policy and law enforcement practices. Further research is recommended to combine normative and empirical approaches in order to deepen understanding of the practice of restricting symbolic expression in Indonesia.
