Abstract

Project-based Adiwiyata co-curricular activities are a series of out-of-class learning activities designed systematically and integrated with the Adiwiyata Program to foster environmental care character in elementary school students. Effective implementation requires management that encompasses planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring. This study aims to describe and analyze the role of project-based Adiwiyata co-curricular activities in shaping students' environmental care character from the perspective of educational management. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, documentation studies, and data triangulation. The study was conducted at SDN 099 Babakan Tarogong, involving the principal, teachers, students, the Adiwiyata coordinator, and parents as research subjects. The results indicate that the planning of project-based Adiwiyata co-curricular activities is systematically structured based on the school’s vision and mission. The organization of activities is supported by a clear organizational structure and proportional task distribution. The implementation is carried out actively and participatively through cleanliness activities, waste reduction, waste segregation, waste processing, plant maintenance, and school garden management. Inorganic waste is processed into handicrafts and ecobricks, while organic waste is processed into compost, MOL (local microorganisms), and eco-enzymes. Activity evaluation is conducted continuously by assessing both the process and the outcomes. Overall, project-based Adiwiyata co-curricular activities play a significant role in fostering environmental care character, as reflected in consistent changes in students' attitudes, behaviors, and environmental habits

Abstract

Inclusive education is an approach that provides opportunities for all students, including those with special needs, to receive an equal education within a single school environment. At the elementary school (SD) and Islamic elementary school (MI) levels, inclusive education plays a crucial role in instilling the principles of justice, tolerance, and respect for diversity from an early age. However, in practice, inclusive education in SD/MI still faces a number of challenges stemming from factors both inside and outside the school. This study aims to examine the challenges faced and find strategic solutions for the implementation of inclusive education in SD/MI. The method used is a literature review by analyzing various sources such as scientific journal articles, books, and policy documents related to the topic of inclusive education. The study revealed that internal challenges include a lack of teacher skills, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, a non-inclusive school culture, a curriculum that is not responsive to diversity, and suboptimal school management. External challenges, on the other hand, include low parental support, the impact of the social and cultural environment, and obstacles in implementing educational policies. Therefore, strategic solutions are needed, such as improving teacher competency, providing disability-friendly facilities, strengthening collaboration between schools, parents, and professionals, and providing ongoing policy support. This study is expected to serve as a reference in developing and improving the quality of inclusive education in elementary schools (SD/MI).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the implementation and impact of ethnomathematics-based learning on the mathematics self-efficacy of elementary school students in learning multiplication. This research approach uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental design. Data were collected using interview sheets, questionnaires, and observation. The research population comprised 40 fourth-grade students at MI Al Azhar Bening, with 20 students assigned control and 20 students to the experimental group. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, including normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent sample t-test. The results of the classroom experiment, carried out over three meetings, showed an average response score of 95,5%, indicating that the overall stages of ethnomathematics-based learning ware implemented effectively. The Independent Sample T-Test results showed that sig. (2-tailed) ≤ 0,05, specifically 0,009 ≤ 0,5, leading to the acceptance of Ha and the rejection of H0. This means that ethnomathematics-based learning has a positive effect on mathematics self-efficacy. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of ethnomathematics-based learning positively influences the mathematics self-efficacy of fourth-grade students at MI Al Azhar Bening.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary school settings remains a serious issue that significantly affects students’ social, emotional, and academic development. Numerous studies indicate that low levels of empathy among perpetrators are closely associated with a higher tendency toward bullying behavior; however, gaps remain in understanding how empathy can be effectively developed and implemented as a preventive strategy in elementary education. Therefore, this article aims to comprehensively examine the role of empathy as a protective factor in preventing bullying and to identify relevant and contextual strategies for empathy development in elementary schools. This study employed a literature review method by analyzing national and international scholarly journals, academic books, and conference proceedings published between 2020 and 2025, accessed through databases such as Google Scholar, Sinta, and Garuda. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis by synthesizing key findings related to the concept of empathy, characteristics of bullying, and empathy-based interventions in elementary school contexts. The findings indicate that empathy particularly in the dimensions of perspective-taking, affective concern, and social response plays a significant role in reducing bullying behavior and fostering a safe and inclusive school social climate. Empathy-based prevention strategies are found to be more effective when systematically integrated into the curriculum, school culture, and daily instructional practices. This review underscores the importance of strengthening social-emotional learning in elementary education and recommends the development and empirical testing of measurable and context-sensitive empathy intervention models for future research.

Abstract

This literature review analyzes the role of concrete media in improving the learning activeness of elementary school students. The study addresses the persistent issue of low participation resulting from teacher-centered instruction and insufficient use of tangible learning tools. Using research published between 2021 and 2025, the review synthesizes evidence demonstrating that concrete media enhance attention, motivation, and engagement by enabling students to observe, manipulate, and experience concepts directly. These media help simplify abstract ideas, strengthen conceptual understanding, and encourage students to participate more actively through questioning, discussion, and collaboration. The review also notes that success depends on teachers’ ability to design interactive, exploratory activities. Overall, the findings confirm that concrete media are an effective approach to fostering active, meaningful learning in elementary classrooms.
