Abstract

This study is motivated by the important role of parents as religious role models in improving children's Qur'an reading skills, considering the ongoing gap between learning activities at the Al-Qur'an Education Center (TPQ) and daily practice at home. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the forms of parental religious modeling applied to improve children's Qur'an reading habits and to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence their implementation in the family context. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Participants consisted of seven parents, seven children, and four Quran teachers at TPQ Baiturrahman Rimbo Ulu Tebo, who were selected through sampling aimed at obtaining in-depth information (Data Rich) Ensuring relevance to the research focus. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. The research findings revealed that the role of parents in providing religious role models to improve children's Quran reading ability consists of three main forms: exemplary Quran reading practices by parents, regular Quran reading habits at home, especially after Maghrib prayers, and active parental guidance and supervision during children's study sessions. Supporting factors include strong parental motivation, consistency in daily religious practices, and effective collaboration with TPQ teachers. Conversely, inhibiting factors include excessive use of digital media, limited time and parental inconsistency, children's low learning motivation, and an unconducive social environment

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ learning activeness through the use of the mind mapping method in Fiqh learning for Grade VIII C at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Kota Jambi. The research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants of this study were students of class VIII C. Data were collected through classroom observation, student learning activeness questionnaires, and interviews, and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques in the form of percentages. The findings revealed that the implementation of the mind mapping method was effective in increasing students’ learning activeness. In Cycle I, students’ activeness reached 65.8% and was categorized as active, while in Cycle II it increased to 84.2% and was categorized as very active, showing an improvement of approximately 18.4%. Questionnaire and interview results also indicated positive responses from the students toward the learning activities. The improvement in learning activeness was reflected in students’ involvement during lessons, participation in discussions, willingness to ask and answer questions, ability to explore information, engagement in collaborative work, completion of practice activities, and application of learning materials to daily life situations. Therefore, the mind mapping method can be concluded to be an effective instructional strategy for enhancing students’ learning activeness in Fiqh learning for Grade VIII C at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Kota Jambi.

Abstract

The long period of Dutch colonial rule in Indonesia significantly influenced the formation of the nation’s socio-economic structure, creating patterns of dependency and inequality that continued to shape society. This historical reality underlies the importance of examining the impact of Dutch colonialism on the socio-economic life of Indonesian society. The purpose of this study is to analyze how colonial economic and social policies transformed indigenous economic systems and social structures. This research employs a library research approach by reviewing relevant books, scientific journals, and historical documents. The findings indicate that Dutch colonial policies, including trade monopolies, forced labor, agrarian regulations, and export-oriented economic systems, shifted traditional subsistence patterns into a colonial economy serving European market interests. These policies resulted in structural poverty, economic dependency, and sharp social stratification dividing society into Europeans, Foreign Orientals, and indigenous groups. Although colonial modernization introduced infrastructure development, it did not improve indigenous welfare. Instead, prolonged socio-economic pressures fostered collective awareness and resistance movements that later contributed to the emergence of national consciousness. Therefore, Dutch colonialism produced systemic socio-economic transformations while simultaneously shaping the foundation of Indonesia’s national awakening.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of local wisdom–based Scratch media on students’ learning outcomes in angle material at the elementary level. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed. The participants consisted of 57 fifth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. An essay test was used to measure learning outcomes. Since the data were not normally distributed, the Mann–Whitney U test was applied. The results revealed a significant difference between the two groups with a significance value of 0.015 (<0.05). The mean score of the experimental group (75.17) was higher than that of the control group (60.00). These findings indicate that integrating Scratch media with local cultural elements effectively enhances students’ conceptual understanding of angles in elementary mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) identify differences in critical thinking skills between fifth-grade students taught using the Ecoliteracy and Adaptation (ELA) learning model and students taught through conventional teaching in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at SD Negeri 1 Padokan; and (2) determine the effectiveness of the ELA learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills. This study was conducted in the 2025/2026 academic year using a quantitative experimental approach with a Non-Equivalent Control Group design. The population consisted of 25 students in grades VA and VB, with 23 students selected as samples and divided into experimental and control groups. Data collection techniques include tests and observations. Statistical analysis includes prerequisite tests, namely normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T test. The results showed that the control group obtained an average score of 48.47 in the pretest and 80.34 in the posttest, while the experimental group obtained an average score of 47.22 and 89.17. A significance value of 0.040 < 0.05 indicates a statistically significant difference. Therefore, the ELA learning model is more effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Conventional learning practices that rely heavily on teacher-centered approaches and lack the use of concrete learning media can hinder the development of students’ creative thinking skills. Therefore, innovative learning strategies are needed to actively engage students and provide meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to examine the effect of using diorama media on students’ creative thinking skills at Sanggar Belajar Kepong, Malaysia. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of a single group of students who were administered a pretest prior to the treatment and a posttest after learning activities using diorama media. Data were collected through tests and observations, while data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and a dependent t-test. The results indicated that the data were normally distributed and that there was a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores after the implementation of diorama media. These findings demonstrate that the use of diorama media has a significant effect on improving students’ creative thinking skills. Diorama media creates a more interactive, concrete, and meaningful learning environment, encouraging students to develop ideas, imagination, and active participation during the learning process. Therefore, diorama media can be considered an effective alternative instructional medium for enhancing students’ creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This research is driven by the lack of variety of learning media and limited facilities such as projectors, which causes a lack of media diversity in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 29 Pontianak City. Therefore, by considering these limitations, this research was conducted to develop comic media using the Ibis Paint X application on story reading material as a learning aid. This research is a research and development (RnD) that uses the ADDIE model. The data were obtained from the results of feasibility assessments by experts and practicality by students. Data collection techniques used interviews and questionnaires, with instruments in the form of interview sheets, product feasibility assessment sheets and product practicality assessment sheets. The sample in this study involved 23 fourth grade students of SD Negeri 29 Pontianak City. The results of the product feasibility by experts obtained an overall result of 91% with the category of "very feasible". While the results of the product practicality obtained an assessment of 92% from students included in the category of "very practical". Based on these results, it can be concluded that the comic media using the Ibis Paint X application on the story reading material developed has a positive impact on students with the criteria of being feasible and practical to use.
