Abstract

This study examines the contribution of imagery to readers’ understanding of war realities in the poetry of Walt Whitman. Whitman’s war poems, particularly those written during and after the American Civil War, present vivid sensory details that transform abstract notions of heroism, suffering, and death into concrete and emotionally resonant experiences. Through visual, auditory, and tactile imagery, Whitman constructs realistic depictions of battlefield scenes, wounded soldiers, and psychological trauma, allowing readers to perceive war not as romanticized glory but as a human and physical tragedy. Using a qualitative textual analysis, this study explores how imagery functions as a literary device to bridge the gap between historical events and readers’ emotional engagement. The findings indicate that Whitman’s imagery enhances empathy, deepens comprehension of war’s brutality, and encourages critical reflection on the costs of conflict. Therefore, imagery plays a crucial role in shaping readers’ interpretations and in presenting war realities in an immediate and impactful manner.

Abstract

This study is aimed to developed a game coding-based Student Worksheet (LKPD) titled Decoding Literacy using Canva for Education, conducted at SDN 33 Kendari from January 8 to March 3, 2026. The LKPD features a four-level hierarchical architecture (Assembling Letters, Assembling Syllables, Assembling Words, and Assembling Sentences) with twelve missions integrating syntactic competence and computational thinking (CT) for Grade 2 students. The study addressed four objectives: (1) content validity by four expert validators using Aiken V (minimum threshold V ≥ 0.88 based on the Aiken V table for n=4 raters) calculated manually in Microsoft Excel across 12 mission items; (2) small-scale empirical validity via a limited trial (n=9) analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation in SPSS; (3) practicality; and (4) initial feasibility. Aiken V coefficients ranged from 0.938 to 1.000 across all 12 items (mean V=0.943, all items valid). Pearson correlation showed all 12 mission items valid (r > r-table=0.666). Practicality responses reached 88.9% (very practical). These findings confirm that the LKPD achieves content validity, empirical validity, practicality, and initial feasibility.

Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between height and body weight with agility among male futsal players aged 12–15 years in a school extracurricular program. This study employed a cross-sectional correlational design involving 15 male futsal players aged 12–15 years (n=15) who met the inclusion criteria. Anthropometric measurements were conducted using calibrated stadiometers and digital scales, while agility was assessed using the Illinois Agility Run Test. Data collection was performed at the school's sports facility with standard preparation including a 10-minute warm-up. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, and Pearson Product Moment correlation at a significance level of p < 0.05. The results revealed a significant negative correlation between height and agility (r = −0.643, p = 0.010), indicating that taller players tended to complete the agility test faster. Conversely, body weight showed a significant positive correlation with agility time (r = 0.575, p = 0.025), suggesting reduced agility with increased body mass. Simultaneously, height and body weight significantly predicted agility performance (R = 0.996, R² = 0.993, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that basic anthropometric characteristics are strongly associated with agility performance in early adolescent futsal players. The results emphasize the importance of considering anthropometric screening in youth futsal talent identification and training program design. Future studies should include larger samples and additional body composition variables to establish more comprehensive predictive models of futsal-specific agility.

Abstract

STEAM as an approach is a means for students to create science and technology-based ideas/concepts through thinking and exploring activities in solving problems based on five integrated disciplines. Critical thinking skills are important to be honed from an early age, because they can help in expanding children's knowledge. This study aims to determine the effect of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach on the critical thinking skills of group B children at An-Nur Kindergarten in Palembang City. The research method used is quantitative with a Pre-Experimental design in the form of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 16 class B2 children selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques used observation, tests, and documentation, then analyzed with a t-test. The results of the study showed an increase in children's critical thinking skills after being given treatment through the STEAM approach. This is evidenced by the difference in the average pretest score (57.75) and posttest (86.5). The hypothesis test yielded a t-test of 10.37, which is greater than the t-table of 2.131 at a 5% significance level. Therefore, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the STEAM approach has a significant effect on the critical thinking skills of 5–6-year-old children at An-Nur Kindergarten in Palembang.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal ethnomathematical elements in the forms and motifs of Tikew weaving as a traditional craft of the community in Desa Gedung Ratu, which has received limited scholarly attention, in the context of students’ low mathematics achievement and the prevailing perception of mathematics as abstract and monotonous. This research employed a qualitative approach using an ethnographic method through observation, interviews, and documentation, and the data were analyzed using an interactive model analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the forms and motifs of Tikew weaving contain ethnomathematical elements in the form of plane geometry, solid geometry, and geometric transformations, including translation, reflection, and dilation, which naturally emerge through the arrangement of shapes and the repetition of motifs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on student learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education subjects at MTsN 3 Sengeti. The background of this study is based on the low motivation of students in Islamic Religious Education learning which is characterized by low student activity, interest, and participation during the learning process. The Project Based Learning model is seen as one of the learning models that can increase student involvement through project activities that require collaboration, creativity, and problem solving. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design to see the relationship between the application of the PjBL model and student learning motivation. The study population was all 205 students of class VIII MTsN 3 Sengeti. The sampling technique used stratified sampling with the Slovin formula so that a sample of 67 students was obtained. The research instrument used a Likert scale questionnaire to measure the application of the PjBL model and student learning motivation. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression analysis to determine the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable. The results of the study are expected to show that the application of the Project Based Learning model has a positive and significant influence on student learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education learning. Thus, the project-based learning model can be an alternative effective learning strategy in increasing student motivation and involvement in the learning process.
