Abstract

This research aims to develop the Unplugged COKIS (Coding Nutritious and Healthy Food) learning media to improve critical thinking skills in early childhood. The background of this research is based on children's low critical thinking skills, demonstrated by difficulties in identifying problems, analyzing information, making decisions, and justifying choices. Therefore, innovative learning media is needed that is interactive, contextual, and appropriate to the characteristics of early childhood. The COKIS media was developed by integrating the concept of unplugged coding and material on nutritious and healthy food through an educational game approach. This research used a Research and Development (R&D) method with stages of planning, development, validation, and limited trials. The research subjects were children aged 5–6 years. Data collection techniques included expert validation sheets, observation sheets, and critical thinking assessment instruments. Data analysis was conducted to determine the level of validity and practicality of the developed media.The results showed that the Unplugged COKIS media had a high level of validity based on assessments by material experts and media experts, and was deemed practical for use in learning activities. This media can stimulate indicators of children's critical thinking, such as the ability to analyze information, observe, and provide reasons in problem-solving. Therefore, Unplugged COKIS media is a suitable learning alternative to improve critical thinking skills in early childhood while also instilling an understanding of the importance of nutritious and healthy food.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools aims to help students understand natural phenomena and the relationship between humans and their environment. However, in the learning process there are still many students who experience difficulties, especially in understanding environmental changes and the impact of human activities. This study aims to analyze students' difficulties in understanding these concepts in science learning. The research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and concept understanding tests. The results of the study show that students experience several difficulties, including low conceptual understanding, difficulty connecting the material with real-life situations, limited use of learning media, and low scientific literacy skills. Therefore, teachers need to use more varied and contextual learning methods and media to help students better understand the material about environmental changes and the impacts of human activities.

Abstract

The rapid development of the globalization era has had a significant impact on various aspects of life, including the morality of the younger generation. The phenomenon of a moral crisis, marked by increasing deviant behavior such as misuse of technology, promiscuity, and declining respect for social norms and cultural values, is a serious issue that must be addressed immediately. Amid the rise of deviant behavior and the moral crisis affecting young people, instilling positive character traits such as honesty, responsibility, empathy, and discipline has become increasingly relevant. This study aims to provide information about the importance of character education in preventing a moral crisis among the younger generation. Character education is one of the strategic solutions to shape the personality of young people so that they possess strong moral values. The results of the study show that character education is one of the main keys to preventing a moral crisis and forming a generation with integrity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of workplace conflict and job stress on the productivity of educational staff at MA Biroyatul Huda Cilongok. Using a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews and observations, the research explores the relationship between workplace conflict, job stress, and the productivity of educational staff. The findings indicate that workplace conflict, often arising from misunderstandings among colleagues or with management, disrupts communication and collaboration, thereby reducing work efficiency. Job stress, caused by administrative burdens and role pressures, further exacerbates the situation by diminishing motivation and concentration among educational staff. The combination of workplace conflict and job stress significantly affects productivity. However, effective management strategies, such as mediation and stress management training, can improve overall performance. This study emphasizes the importance of fostering a harmonious work environment to enhance the productivity of educational staff.

Abstract

Literacy skills in Indonesia still face significant challenges, as demonstrated by the results of the 2022 PISA survey, which placed Indonesia at a low position. Low literacy is often associated with reading interest, but previous research has shown inconsistent results. This study aims to analyze the relationship between reading interest and literacy skills in fourth-grade students of SD Negeri Sungguminasa V. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and a total sampling technique involving 25 students. Data were collected through a reading interest questionnaire and an objective literacy ability test. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and inferentially using the Spearman's Rho correlation test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that the average reading interest score was 37.24 and literacy ability was 12.88. The correlation test produced a coefficient of 0.214 with a significance value of 0.305 (p > 0.05), indicating a weak and insignificant relationship. Thus, it was concluded that there was no significant relationship between reading interest and literacy skills in the study subjects.

Abstract

Reading ability is a basic skill that affects elementary school students’ learning success, especially in Indonesian language subjects. However, many students still experience reading difficulties, such as recognizing letters, spelling syllables, reading whole words, reading sentences fluently, and understanding reading texts. This study aims to examine the internal and external factors that cause reading difficulties among elementary school students in Indonesian language learning. This research used a library research method or literature review by examining 15 relevant journal articles published from 2021 to 2025, supported by books and educational data related to the topic. The findings show that internal factors causing reading difficulties include low reading interest, lack of learning motivation, limited cognitive ability, weak memory, poor concentration, low self-confidence, and physical problems such as visual or hearing impairments. External factors include lack of parental guidance, limited reading materials, unsuitable teaching methods, less attractive learning media, and a school environment that does not fully support reading habits. Reading difficulties among elementary school students are not caused by a single factor, but are formed through the relationship between students’ conditions, family support, teacher roles, school environment, and the surrounding social environment.

Abstract

Introducing English to early childhood learners should involve engaging and enjoyable media that align with their learning characteristics, making instructional media an essential component in the learning process. This study aims to examine the significant effect of using flipbook media on children’s English pronunciation at Kemala Bhayangkari 3 Kindergarten, Alai Padang. The research employed a quantitative method with an experimental approach, involving a sample of 12 children from class B3. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments, as well as observation and documentation, and were analyzed using SPSS version 22. The findings indicate an improvement in the average scores from the pretest to the posttest, with the mean score increasing from 7 to 19. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the use of flipbook media has a statistically significant effect on children’s English pronunciation.

Abstract

Listening skill is one of the fundamental competencies in the learning process, especially at the elementary school level. This study aims to analyze the listening skills of grade 4 students at SDN Sindangsari 03, Cigedug  District, Garut Regency, West Java, Academic Year 2024/2025. A descriptive quantitative approach combined with a case study method was employed. Data were collected through a 16-item questionnaire covering aspects of oral text comprehension, ability to follow verbal instructions, concentration, and identification of key information. The study involved 106 students selected from 170 grade 4 students using simple random sampling. Results showed that the majority of students (66.0%) had moderate listening skills, 18.9% were in the high category, and 15.1% were in the low category. These findings highlight the need for more interactive and varied learning strategies involving audiovisual media, storytelling methods, and active student engagement to enhance listening skill in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of screen time intensity on learning motivation and concentration in fifth-grade elementary school science students. The increasing use of digital devices by students raises concerns about its impact on the learning process, particularly motivation and concentration. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 20 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using validity, reliability, normality, Spearman correlation, and simple linear regression tests. The results showed that screen time intensity did not have a significant effect on students' learning motivation or concentration (p > 0.05). However, there was a significant positive relationship between learning motivation and concentration with a correlation coefficient of 0.603 and a significance of 0.005 (p < 0.05). This finding indicates that the higher a student's learning motivation, the better their concentration level. Thus, the effect of screen time on the learning process is not direct, but is influenced by the type of use, duration, and environmental supervision. Therefore, improving the quality of learning needs to be focused on strengthening learning motivation and managing gadget use wisely.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of artificial intelligence technology in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education students and to explore students' experiences and perceptions regarding its use in academic activities. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with 29 eighth-semester students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program as research subjects, selected through cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that students have actively and comprehensively utilized AI across various courses, both general and Islamic studies, using platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Meta AI to understand course materials, complete assignments, and compose academic works. Students perceive AI as a tool that provides convenience and learning efficiency, while also contributing to improved academic achievement. However, excessive use potentially leads to dependency and weakens critical thinking skills. This study affirms that AI should be utilized wisely as a learning support tool that aligns with the values of Islamic education.
