Abstract

This Study examines the factors of meaning in life (kebermaknaan hidup) among adolescents residing at Panti Asuhan Dharma Ibu Muara Bulian, grounded in Viktor E. Frankl’s logotherapy theory. A qualitative phenomenological approuch was employed adolescent informants (RS and LH), both aged 13-18 years, orphaned, and residing at the orphanage for a minimum of two years. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, passive participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that both informants found meaning in life through Frankl's three value dimensions: creative values (through daily responsibilities, social contributions, and personal achievements), experiential values (through religious activities, peer relationships, and deep gratitude), and attitudinal values (through acceptance of loss, stigma, and an uncertain future). Supporting factors include peer social support as a surrogate family system, religious and spiritual activities, access to education, clear future aspirations, and meaningful figures who provide inner strength. Inhibiting factors include fear and low self-confidence, longing and loneliness due to separation from family, limited mobility and orphanage facilities, social stigma from the external environment, and an authoritarian caregiving pattern that restricts emotional expression. These findings confirm that meaning in life can be achieved even under profound limitation.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the low mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Pogung, particularly on the topic of length unit conversion. The objective of this study was to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of an interactive game-based learning media utilizing an Interactive Flat Panel. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in two cycles. The participants were 14 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation and were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the interactive game media. The average score increased from 41.43 in the pretest to 58.57 in Cycle I and further improved to 80.00 in Cycle II. Learning mastery also increased from 14.29% in the pretest to 35.71% in Cycle I and reached 100% in Cycle II. In addition, students demonstrated higher levels of participation, motivation, and engagement throughout the learning process. These findings suggest that interactive game-based learning media supported by an Interactive Flat Panel can effectively enhance students’ understanding of length unit conversion concepts and improve mathematics learning outcomes in elementary school.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low collaboration skills and learning outcomes of students in science learning in grade IV of SDN Danau Ina, Kupang City. Students tend to be less active in working together, discussing, and participating in group activities, which impacts on low learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model on collaboration skills and student learning outcomes in science learning. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The research population was grade IV, namely grade IV A and IV B, each of which consisted of 29 students. The sampling technique used saturated sampling so that the entire population was used as a research sample consisting of the experimental class and the control class. Data were collected through observation sheets, questionnaires, and tests. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Levene's homogeneity test showed a significance value > 0.05 so that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The results of the hypothesis test using the Independent Sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. The results showed that the pretest scores for collaboration skills in both classes were still dominated by the sufficient category and the learning outcomes were not yet complete. After the treatment, the posttest results showed that the collaboration skills of the experimental class increased to be dominated by the good and very good categories, while the control class was still dominated by the sufficient category. In addition, the completeness of learning outcomes in the experimental class reached 93.1%, while in the control class it was only 13.8%. Thus, the PjBL model has a significant effect on collaboration skills and student learning outcomes so that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.
