Abstract

Educational inequality between rural and urban areas remains a major challenge in achieving educational equality in Indonesia. Differences in access to educational infrastructure, the quality of teaching staff, digital technology, and socioeconomic conditions lead to disparities in the quality of learning and educational opportunities for students. This study aims to systematically examine the various factors influencing the educational gap between rural and urban areas, its impact on students' futures, and strategies that can be implemented to reduce this inequality. The study used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA approach. Data were obtained from national and international scientific articles published during the 2020-2026 period and sourced from the Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, ERIC, DOAJ, and Garuda databases. From the results of the literature identification and selection process, 15 articles were obtained that met the inclusion criteria for analysis using a thematic synthesis approach. The results show that schools in urban areas have better access to educational facilities and infrastructure, digital technology, and qualified teaching staff compared to schools in rural areas. This gap impacts academic achievement, access to further education, and career development opportunities for students. Furthermore, the digital divide and the unequal distribution of teachers are dominant factors widening educational inequality. Therefore, policies focused on equitable distribution of educational infrastructure, strengthening school digitalization, and a more equitable distribution of teaching staff are needed to achieve inclusive and sustainable education.

Abstract

This research examines the comparative intonation of the character Nobita in the film “Stand By Me Doraemon” between the original Japanese dubbing and the Indonesian dubbing. Using the high-down intonation framework by Ladd (2008), this study aims to evaluate how the Indonesian dubbing reconstructs emotional quality and pragmatic functions within illocutionary speech acts, as conceptualized by Searle (1969). The study employs a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach, utilizing Praat software for acoustic-phonetic analysis to extract fundamental frequency () and duration parameters from twelve dialogue segments. The findings indicate that despite significant variations in frequency and duration, often due to linguistic structural differences, the Indonesian voice actor successfully maintains the character's pragmatic intent through adaptive prosodic manipulation, such as ascending pitch contours, precise articulatory markers, and rhythmic breathing patterns. This research concludes that the Indonesian dubbing effectively reproduces the emotional and pragmatic nuances of the original characterization, ensuring the consistency of Nobita’s emotional expression in the target language.

Abstract

Interfaith tolerance is one of the important character values that needs to be instilled in early childhood, particularly within a multireligious educational environment. This study aims to describe the implementation of habituation activities in enhancing the character of interfaith tolerance, to identify the challenges encountered, and to determine the solutions used in addressing those challenges among children aged 4-5 years at TK Labschool Jakarta. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research was conducted at TK Labschool Jakarta from April to May 2026, with the research subjects being the principal, classroom teachers, and children of group A2 totaling 25 children. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results show that: 1) the implementation of interfaith tolerance habituation was carried out through alternating prayers, proportional separation of religious classes, monthly worship programs, and interfaith social service activities; 2) the challenges encountered stemmed from the limited schedule of the Hindu religion teacher and the imitative phase in children who had not yet fully grasped the sacred essence of worship; 3) the solutions applied included empowering inclusion-support teachers, providing persuasive education, and strengthening communication with parents. This study concludes that consistent habituation activities, supported by synergy among the school, teachers, and parents, are effective in fostering the character of interfaith tolerance in early childhood. Keywords: habituation activities, character, interfaith tolerance, early childhood.

Abstract

Learning assessment is an essential component in ensuring the achievement of learning objectives at every level of education, including junior secondary school (SMP). In Indonesia, educational assessment standards are regulated through several laws and regulations, including the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 21 of 2022. Although these standards have been normatively established, their implementation in the field still faces various obstacles, such as teachers' limited understanding of authentic assessment concepts and time constraints in conducting remedial learning. This article aims to analyze educational assessment standards in Indonesia and their implementation at the junior secondary school level. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach through a review of relevant regulations, field observation, and interviews with teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Mengwi. The findings indicate that the assessment standards at the school have been implemented in accordance with the principles of fairness, objectivity, and educational value, and follow formative and summative assessment procedures as stipulated in Permendikbudristek Number 21 of 2022. The obstacles identified were addressed through collaboration among teachers and better time management for remedial guidance. The study concludes that strengthening teacher competence remains necessary so that the implementation of assessment standards can run more optimally and contribute to improving the quality of education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low student learning outcomes in the Civics Education (PKn) subject, attributed to the use of instructional media that lacked variety and engagement. The study aimed to assess learning outcomes before and after using 3D Pop-Up Book instructional media and to determine the impact of this media on the Civics learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDIT QA Baitussalam Bogor. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 64 students, divided into an experimental group (32 students) and a control group (32 students). Data collection involved pre-tests and post-tests, while data analysis utilized normality tests, homogeneity tests, and the Mann-Whitney hypothesis test, as the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that the experimental group's average pre-test score rose from 54.28 to 68.28 in the post-test (a 25.79% increase), whereas the control group's average pre-test score rose from 63.97 to 74.09 (a 15.82% increase). The Mann-Whitney test yielded an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.025 (less than 0.05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). Thus, it can be concluded that the use of 3D Pop-Up Book instructional media has a significant effect on the Civics learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDIT QA Baitussalam. Abstract

This study aims to map the digital competence profile of rural-domiciled students based on five subdimensions and formulate its implications for Indonesian language and literature learning. A descriptive quantitative approach with a survey design was employed. Data were collected from 78 rural students using a 25-item digital competence questionnaire. The five analyzed subdimensions included digital source searching and identification, digital information credibility evaluation, digital reference and information management, access, account, and privacy security, and digital ethics, well-being, and responsibility. The findings show that rural students’ digital competence was in the high category, with a mean total score of 97.03 out of 125 and an achievement rate of 77.62%. The highest subdimension was access, account, and privacy security, reaching 81.79%. The lowest subdimension was digital reference and information management, reaching 74.31%. These findings indicate the need to strengthen academic information literacy, digital reference management, source verification, and ethical digital interaction in Indonesian language and literature learning. This profile supports more contextual learning designs for rural students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors contributing to foreign language anxiety (FLA) among reticent students during speaking skills maharah kalam instruction at an Arabic language school. The study was motivated by observations that these students exhibited passivity, a reluctance to speak, and anxiety when using Arabic in the classroom. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. Data were collected through observations and interviews with two speaking skills instructors and three reticent students. The Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing was used for data analysis. The results indicate that both internal and external factors influence foreign language anxiety among reticent students. Internal factors include a lack of self-confidence, fear of making mistakes, a tendency to overthink, and prior learning experiences. External factors include the absence of an Arabic-speaking environment (*bi'ah lughawiyah*), fear of negative criticism, social comparison with peers, and academic demands associated with speaking skills instruction. The findings reveal that the two primary factors driving foreign language anxiety in these students are a lack of self-confidence and the absence of an Arabic-speaking environment. It is hoped that this study will assist instructors in devising teaching strategies that enhance the learning environment and encourage students to use Arabic actively.
