Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Polya Heuristic-based Digital Truth or Dare Gamification on the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) problem-solving skills of fourth-grade elementary students. The background of this research is driven by students' low problem-solving abilities due to teacher-centered learning processes and a lack of practice in systematically solving real-world problems. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample involved 50 fourth-grade students at an elementary school in Jember Regency, divided into an experimental group (25 students) and a control group (25 students). The experimental group received learning that integrated digital questions and challenges with Polya's four heuristic stages (understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back), while the control group used conventional learning. Data were collected through essay tests and analyzed using Normalized Gain (N-Gain) and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The results showed that the experimental group's N-Gain was 0.5497 (medium category), higher than the control group's 0.2613 (low category). The ANCOVA test proved that the treatment had a significant effect on problem-solving skills (F = 8.508; p = 0.005) with an effect contribution of 15.6% after controlling for students' initial abilities. In conclusion, Polya Heuristic-based Digital Truth or Dare Gamification is an effective and significant innovative strategy for improving students' IPAS problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the language varieties used in an Aroftatv Instagram reel, which discusses common mistakes during takbir intiqal delivered by Sheikh Amir bin Muhammad Fida Bahjat. The research employs a descriptive analysis method, with data collection involving the transcription of spoken language from the video into written text. A total of 138 words were classified into 23 sentences and analyzed contextually based on the theories of standard language, dialects, and registers. The findings reveal that the language used in the reel is a combination of standard Arabic and regional dialects. Specifically, 12 sentences use standard language, while 11 sentences contain dialects, primarily Saudi Arabian and Egyptian regional dialects. The dialectal differences encompass variations in letter pronunciation, letter substitution, and specific word or phrase choices. Due to the mixture of standard language and dialects, the dominant language variety is classified under the consultative register and religious register. This classification perfectly aligns with the context of the speech, which focuses on Islamic prayer procedures delivered verbally in a teacher-student dynamic.

Abstract

Alphabet recognition is a fundamental component of early literacy development in early childhood. However, many children still experience difficulties in identifying letter names, recognizing letter symbols, and associating letters with their initial sounds. These challenges indicate the need for innovative learning media that can enhance children's engagement and understanding during the learning process. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of technology-based flashcard media in improving alphabet recognition skills among Group B children at TK Pertiwi II Jambi City. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 11 children from Group B (Jeruk Class), who received instruction using technology-based alphabet flashcards over six learning sessions. Data were collected through alphabet recognition tests administered before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-Test with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings revealed that the mean pre-test score for alphabet recognition was 12.45 (52% of the ideal score), which increased to 21.73 (91%) in the post-test, representing an improvement of 9.27 points. The Paired Sample t-Test yielded a t value of −24.176 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. These findings demonstrate that technology-based flashcard media are effective in significantly improving alphabet recognition skills among children aged 5–6 years at TK Pertiwi II Jambi City. Therefore, this learning medium has the potential to serve as an effective instructional tool for supporting early literacy development in early childhood education.

Abstract

Mathematics learning interest among Indonesian elementary school students remains low, including second-grade students at SDN Rada, who show difficulty understanding multiplication, avoid memorization activities, and learn in a passive classroom due to conventional teaching. This problem is worsened by the lack of local-wisdom-based educational games, such as the traditional mpa'a ncimi game, which has the potential to increase student participation and learning interest. This study aims to determine the effect of the Game Based Learning (GBL) model assisted by the traditional mpa'a ncimi game on the mathematics learning interest of second-grade students at SDN Rada. A quantitative approach was used with a One Group Pretest–Posttest pre-experimental design involving 17 second-grade students as a saturated sample. Data were collected using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire tested for reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.987) and analyzed using a paired sample t-test and Cohen's d effect size test. Results showed an increase in the average learning interest score from 62.5 (pretest) to 73.6 (posttest), with a t-test result of -30.7 (df = 16; p < 0.001) indicating a significant difference, and a Cohen's d of 7.44 categorized as a very large effect. Based on posttest categorization, 11 students (64.7%) fell into the Medium category and 3 (17.6%) into the High category. It can be concluded that the GBL model assisted by the traditional mpa'a ncimi game significantly increases mathematics learning interest among second-grade students at SDN Rada, and serves as an alternative contextual, local-culture-based learning strategy for schools with limited technological facilities.

Abstract

Legal history is a branch of study that examines the evolution of law over time and the factors influencing changes in a society's legal system. This research aims to analyze the historical development and formation of the Indonesian legal system, spanning the colonial period, independence, the Old Order, the New Order, and the Reform Era. The study employs a normative-juridical method with historical and conceptual approaches, utilizing a literature review of legislation, books, and scholarly journals. The findings indicate that the Indonesian legal system is an amalgamation of various legal systems: customary law (*adat*), Islamic law, and the Continental European legal system inherited from the Dutch. Following independence, national legal development focused on decolonizing the law, with Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution serving as the primary foundations. The evolution of Indonesian law has been shaped by the political and social dynamics of each governing era. During the Reform Era, the legal system underwent reform through amendments to the 1945 Constitution and the establishment of various independent institutions designed to strengthen the rule of law and democracy. Consequently, an understanding of legal history is essential for building a national legal system that is responsive, equitable, and aligned with societal developments.

Abstract

This study aims to describe euphemism and dysphemism strategies in online news coverage of the polemic surrounding the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) on Detik.com and CNN Indonesia. The study is grounded in the view that media language is not neutral because news texts select, emphasize, and interpret social reality through particular frames (Entman, 1993; Sulehry & Wallace, 2021). This research applies a descriptive qualitative method within a critical discourse analysis perspective. The data consist of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences containing euphemistic and dysphemistic indications in Detik.com and CNN Indonesia news reports on MBG, particularly regarding menu quality, milk replacement, zakat funding, program evaluation, and food poisoning cases. The analysis was conducted through identification, classification, functional interpretation, and cross-media comparison. The findings show that euphemism is used to soften technical, administrative, and policy-related problems, as reflected in expressions such as replaced, fulfilling nutritional needs, beneficiaries, evaluation, shortcomings, and mechanism adjustment. Conversely, dysphemism is used to sharpen criticism, emphasize risk, and construct urgency, as seen in expressions such as poisoning, endangering children, full of conflicts of interest, deviating, danger, and cannot be taken lightly. Detik.com tends to present conflict through source quotations and field-experience descriptions, whereas CNN Indonesia foregrounds evaluative diction within the frames of risk, accountability, and policy urgency. These findings indicate that euphemism and dysphemism function as discourse strategies that shape public perception of the MBG policy.

Abstract

This quantitative study with an ex post facto comparative design aims to identify the differences in early childhood reading interest based on the use of technology-based media (interactive learning applications, animated videos, and e-books) at Preschool At Taqwa 1. The research sample consisted of 45 children from the TK B group (aged 5–6 years) selected via purposive sampling, where the same group of children was evaluated across all three media formats. Data were closed questionnaires completed by parents to observe six dimensions of children's reading interest. Due to the non-normal distribution of data indicated by the Shapiro-Wilk prerequisite test, the hypothesis testing was conducted using thenon-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test and further analyzed via Post Hoc Pairwise Comparisons with Bonferroni correction. TheKruskal-Wallis test results revealed a statistically significant difference in children's reading interest based on technology-based media, with an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.002 (p < 0.05). The post hoc analysis showed that animated videos and interactive learning applications were significantly more effective in triggering reading interest compared to e-books (withAdj. Sig. values of 0.002 and 0.017, respectively). Meanwhile, the comparison between interactive applications and animated videos showed no statistically significant difference (Adj. Sig. value of 1.000), indicating equivalent effectiveness. Animated videos excelled in the enjoyment and task persistence dimensions, while interactive learning applications were superior in the value of reading dimension. Conversely, e-books recorded the lowest scores as their static characteristics induced visual fatigue and boredom. In conclusion, the integration of dynamic, multi-sensory technology-based media is far superior to static digital media in fostering an autonomous and sustainable reading interest in early childhood.

Abstract

This study examines how academic guidance is implemented to support the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary education, focusing on program coherence, techniques, barriers, and the integration of digital tools. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology, this study collected data through interviews, observations, and documentation from 12 educators in West Java, selected through purposive sampling, and then analyzed the information using thematic analysis. The findings indicate a transformation in the guidance model from one that was originally administrative and inspection-oriented to a more reflective and collaborative approach aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional growth. Although classroom observations are still commonly conducted, they are influenced by teachers’ concerns and occur infrequently. The main challenges identified include time constraints and the administrative responsibilities of school leaders. The transition to digital supervision through platforms such as Ruang GTK, e-Kinerja, and PMM has begun, but its implementation has been inconsistent due to disparities in digital skills and infrastructure. This study concludes that academic supervision is crucial for effective curriculum implementation but requires the development of supervisors’ capabilities, better technology integration, and a supervision framework aligned with teachers’ continuous professional development.
