Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of student creativity in Fine Arts learning in elementary schools, characterized by students' limited ability to develop ideas, imagine, and produce work independently. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in developing student creativity in Fine Arts learning for grade IIIB students at SD Negeri 1 Nagrak and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The study subjects consisted of 43 grade IIIB students at SD Negeri 1 Nagrak. The results showed that the application of the Project-Based Learning model to the topic of making collages from colored paper improved student creativity. Through the stages of determining fundamental questions, project planning, scheduling, project implementation, presentation of work, and evaluation, students became more active, creative, confident, and able to work well in groups. Student creativity was evident in their ability to develop ideas, select color combinations, and produce diverse and original collage designs. Supporting factors for PjBL implementation included teacher support, availability of tools and materials, student enthusiasm, and good group cooperation. The inhibiting factors include differences in student abilities, low self-confidence among some students, and limited learning time. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model is effective in developing student creativity in Fine Arts lessons in elementary schools. Therefore, this model can be used as an innovative learning alternative to increase student engagement, creativity, and self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine students' reading ability before and after the implementation of the multisensory method using Puzzle Alphacode media and to analyze the effect of the method on the reading ability of first-grade students at Nurul Ulum Elementary School. Beginning reading is a fundamental skill that serves as the foundation for students' academic success in elementary school. Preliminary observations at Nurul Ulum Elementary School revealed that some first-grade students still experienced difficulties in recognizing letters, reading syllables, combining syllables into words, and understanding simple words and sentences. The research problem focused on students' reading ability before and after the implementation of the multisensory method and whether the method had a significant effect on their reading ability. This study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The sample consisted of 33 first-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a reading ability test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and a paired-samples t-test. The findings showed that the mean pretest score was 53.18, while the mean posttest score increased to 71.21. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.291 for the pretest and 0.319 for the posttest. The paired-samples t-test yielded a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), with a mean improvement of 18.03 points. These findings indicate that students' reading ability improved after participating in learning activities using the multisensory method with Puzzle Alphacode media. Students became more proficient in recognizing letters and reading simple words and sentences more fluently, accurately, and confidently. Therefore, the multisensory method assisted by Puzzle Alphacode media had a significant positive effect on improving the reading ability of first-grade students at Nurul Ulum Elementary School and can serve as an alternative approach to beginning reading instruction in elementary schools.
