Abstract

Learning media play an important role in creating meaningful and interactive learning experiences. However, the implementation of IPAS learning on buying and selling activities in Grade IV elementary schools is still dominated by conventional teaching methods, resulting in low student engagement. This study aimed to develop Reviali (Visual Representation of Buying and Selling), an instructional media integrated with the Role Playing learning model, to determine its validity and practicality. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4-D) model consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of MIN 1 Langsa. Data were collected through observation, interviews, validation questionnaires from material and media experts, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative techniques. The findings indicate that the developed Reviali learning media met the valid criteria based on expert validation and the practical criteria based on teacher and student responses. The integration of visual media with role-playing activities provided concrete learning experiences, encouraged active participation, improved communication skills, and created an enjoyable learning environment. Therefore, Reviali learning media is feasible to be used as an instructional medium in IPAS learning on buying and selling activities in Grade IV elementary schools.

Abstract

Learning concentration is an important internal factor for successful learning, yet some seventh-grade students at SMP BPPI Baleendah Bandung reportedly struggle to maintain focus during lessons, particularly due to noisy classroom conditions, fatigue, and accumulated cognitive load during afternoon periods. This study aimed to examine the effect of the brain gym technique on improving students learning concentration. The study used a true experimental design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, involving 20 seventh-grade students randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=9) who received approximately ten minutes of brain gym treatment, and a control group (n=11) who received no treatment. Data were collected using a learning concentration scale and analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and the Mann-Whitney U test for between-group differences. Results showed the experimental group's mean score was slightly higher than the control group's, but the hypothesis test yielded a significance value of 0.790, indicating no statistically meaningful difference. Thus, based on the data analyzed, brain gym did not show a significant effect on improving students learning concentration, which may be related to the limited number of subjects and the single treatment session provided.

Abstract

Carving Motifs at the Baanjuang Traditional House Museum in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra The Baanjuang Traditional House Museum in Bukittinggi is a cultural heritage building that displays various traditional Minangkabau carving motifs with significant aesthetic and philosophical values. This study aims to describe the forms of carving motifs and their placement within the museum building. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with museum guides, cultural experts, carving craftsmen, documentation, and literature studies. The findings reveal six principal carving motifs: Lapiah Ampek, Aka Tangah Duo Gagang, Jalo Taserak, Aka Duo Gagang, Jarek Takambang, and Sitampuak Manggih. These motifs are stylized representations of flora, fauna, and natural elements rooted in Minangkabau carving traditions. Their placement follows the structural and functional arrangement of the rumah gadang architecture, including pillars, windows, wall panels, and galuang kandang sections. Beyond their decorative role, the motifs embody symbolic meanings derived from the Minangkabau philosophy of Alam Takambang Jadi Guru. This study contributes to the documentation and preservation of traditional Minangkabau carving heritage.

Abstract

Indonesian language instruction regarding biographical texts for Grade X students at MA Matholi’ul Anwar Simo faces challenges because the existing teaching materials fail to optimally develop students' abilities to analyze the structure, linguistic elements, exemplary values, and messages within such texts. Furthermore, the materials do not fully support the implementation of the *Kurikulum Merdeka* (Independent Curriculum), which emphasizes "Deep Learning." This study aims to describe the validity, efficiency, and effectiveness of Indonesian language teaching materials based on the Deep Learning approach, designed to enhance the biographical text analysis skills of Grade X students at MA Matholi’ul Anwar Simo. The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, comprising the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Research subjects included subject matter experts, design experts, an Indonesian language teacher, and Grade X students. Data were collected through observations and questionnaires assessing validity, efficiency, and effectiveness, and were subsequently analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistics (percentages). The results indicate that the teaching materials achieved validity scores of 94.8% from subject matter experts and 91.4% from design experts, placing them in the "highly valid" category. Efficiency, based on teacher assessment, reached 96%, falling into the "highly efficient" category. Regarding effectiveness, the materials achieved an average score of 91% ("highly effective") during the limited trial, while the field trial deemed them highly suitable for use. Consequently, the Deep Learning-based teaching materials are considered valid, efficient, and effective, making them suitable for Indonesian language instruction for Grade X students at MA Matholi’ul Anwar Simo.

Abstract

Road repair concerns in Lamongan Regency have sparked significant public dissent and diminished faith in the local administration, especially through the swift sharing of grievances on social platforms. This scenario has shifted from an issue of infrastructure to a challenge in communication that necessitates a strong crisis communication plan. This research is designed to examine the crisis communication tactics used by the Lamongan Regency Government to tackle the road repair dilemma, utilizing Benoit's Apologia Theory. The investigation followed a qualitative descriptive strategy within a constructivist framework. Information was gathered via detailed interviews, monitoring government interactions on social media, and reviewing documents, which were then analyzed using interactive data analysis methods that included data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the Lamongan Regency Government employed all six strategies of Apologia: denial, bolstering, differentiation, transcendence, corrective action, and mortification. Notably, corrective action and differentiation proved to be the most prevalent strategies, focusing on factual clarity, clarification of government roles, openness about planning and budgeting, and ongoing updates on infrastructure development. In contrast, mortification was the least utilized strategy, with formal public apologies seldom issued through official communication channels. The study concludes that the government's approach to crisis communication primarily aimed to rebuild public confidence by emphasizing transparency, clarification, and concrete corrective measures instead of relying on emotional responses. These results underscore the vital role of strategic, clear, and consistent communication in enhancing the reputation and trustworthiness of local governments amid public crises.

Abstract

Film studies have increasingly adopted social theory as a framework for visual analysis; however, the application of Michel Foucault's concept of panopticism to realist coming-of-age cinema remains limited, particularly in explaining how disciplinary power operates through ordinary social interactions rather than formal institutions. This study aims to examine how panoptic mechanisms are visually represented in Kelly Fremon Craig's The Edge of Seventeen (2016) and to demonstrate the usefulness of Foucauldian theory in realist film analysis. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with document analysis, the research analyzes six selected scenes through close reading of cinematic elements, including mise-en-scène, shot scale, camera angle, and spatial design. The findings reveal that visual techniques such as shallow depth of field, high-angle framing, extreme close-up, and medium tracking shots, combined with everyday settings including parties, bathrooms, cafeterias, and classrooms, construct conditions of asymmetric visibility, self-monitoring, and normalizing judgment. Rather than relying on explicit authority figures, the film depicts discipline as emerging through peer observation and internalized social expectations. These visual strategies encourage characters to regulate their own behavior while reinforcing dominant social norms. The study concludes that Foucauldian panopticism provides a systematic analytical framework for understanding how realist coming-of-age films naturalize disciplinary power through cinematic form and everyday spaces.

Abstract

This article examines the stylistic aspects of the song lyrics in Sal Priadi's album “Markers and Such Pens Flashdisks” and explores their potential as teaching materials for literary appreciation in senior high schools. The study is motivated by the development of Indonesian popular music, which functions not only as entertainment but also as a medium of literary expression characterized by aesthetic and emotional language. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a stylistic approach to analyze figurative language, diction, imagery, and symbolism in the song lyrics. The findings reveal that the lyrics are characterized by poetic, reflective, personal, and contextual language. The dominant stylistic features include metaphor, personification, symbolism, and repetition, which contribute to the construction of connotative meaning, strengthen emotional expression, and provide broad interpretive possibilities for listeners. In addition to their aesthetic value, the lyrics are relevant as teaching materials for literary appreciation in senior high schools because they contain stylistic elements aligned with Indonesian language learning and closely reflect students' experiences. Therefore, “Markers and Such Pens Flashdisks” possesses not only artistic value as a popular music album but also significant potential as a contextual, creative, and innovative resource for literature instruction.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research (CAR) aimed at improving students' learning activeness through the implementation of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model on simile, metaphor, and repetition figurative-language materials in class VIII A of SMP Negeri 17 Malang, academic year 2025/2026. The subjects were 32 students, consisting of 14 male and 18 female students. The study was motivated by the low level of student activeness, indicated by reluctance to ask questions, hesitation to answer individually, and limited willingness to express opinions during the learning process. The research was conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, following the Kemmis and McTaggart model. Data were collected through observation sheets measuring three indicators of activeness asking questions, answering questions, and expressing opinions and analyzed descriptively using percentages. The results showed a significant increase across cycles. In the pre-cycle, only 15.63% of students actively asked questions, 18.75% answered questions, and 9.38% expressed opinions. After Cycle I, these figures rose to 43.75%, 46.88%, and 25.00%, respectively. Following improvements in Cycle II including explicit role assignment and mandatory inter-group questioning activeness increased substantially to 93.75%, 87.50%, and 81.25%, exceeding the success criterion of 76%. The study concludes that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model effectively enhances students' learning activeness, collaboration, and communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia instruction

Abstract

This study aims to describe the adaptive classroom management strategies implemented by a fourth-grade teacher to create a conducive learning environment in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SD Negeri 4 Metro Barat, Metro City. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach and involved one fourth-grade teacher as the primary research participant. The researcher collected the data through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed them using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the teacher implemented a series of adaptive classroom management strategies, including rotating seating arrangements, establishing classroom agreements collaboratively with students at the beginning of the semester, providing individualized attention to both active and reserved students, restoring students' focus by calling their names, giving nonverbal cues, and varying voice intonation, as well as consistently fostering positive habits to support students' behavioral transition from third grade to fourth grade. The findings also indicated that the teacher evaluated successful classroom management based on students' calmness, attentiveness, and the achievement of learning objectives by at least half of the students. Overall, the findings demonstrate that the teacher created a conducive and inclusive learning environment by implementing adaptive, dialogic, and consistent classroom management strategies in accordance with the student-centered learning principles of the Merdeka Curriculum.
