Abstract

This study was motivated by the observation that some students at SMA N 1 Sikabau still exhibit low learning motivation and lack well-developed career plans. This situation is evidenced by students who frequently procrastinate on assignments, lack enthusiasm for learning, have not yet identified their interests and talents, and lack clear career goals. The study aims to describe the learning motivation and career planning of Grade XI students at SMA N 1 Sikabau and to examine the relationship between these two variables. A quantitative approach utilizing a descriptive-correlational method was employed. The study population consisted of 50 Grade XI students at SMA N 1 Sikabau, and a total sampling technique was used to include all 50 students in the sample. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Pearson Product Moment correlation, with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics software (version 32.0). The results indicate that student learning motivation falls into the high, while career planning also falls into the high. The correlation analysis yielded a coefficient (r) of 0.615 (indicating a strong relationship) with a significance value of < 0.001. Thus, there is a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and career planning among Grade XI students at SMA N 1 Sikabau. Consequently, it is recommended that guidance and counseling teachers, as well as subject teachers, provide services and materials designed to elevate both learning motivation and career planning from the "high" category to the "very high" category.

Abstract

Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning in elementary schools is still predominantly oriented toward modern sports, resulting in the underutilization of traditional sports as a local culture-based learning medium. In fact, traditional sports have considerable potential to develop fundamental movement skills, foster character development, and preserve local cultural heritage. This study aimed to describe the implementation of traditional sports as a local culture-based learning medium in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning at the elementary school level. The study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from scientific journal articles, books, and relevant policy documents indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, Google Scholar, Crossref, and Garuda databases. Data were gathered through document analysis and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that traditional sports, such as gobak sodor, engklek, bentengan, egrang, bakiak, and tug of war, effectively support the achievement of fundamental movement competencies, enhance physical literacy, improve learning motivation and active participation, and promote character values such as cooperation, sportsmanship, discipline, responsibility, and mutual cooperation. Furthermore, the implementation of traditional sports contributes to the preservation of local culture through contextual and meaningful learning experiences. However, its implementation continues to face challenges, including limited teacher competence, a lack of local culture-based instructional materials, and inadequate facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, strengthening teachers' competencies, developing instructional modules, and providing institutional policy support are essential to ensure the sustainable implementation of traditional sports in elementary school Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research aims to examine the practice of breastfeeding from a health perspective, describe the social emotional development achievements of children aged 4-5 years, and analyze the significant influence of breastfeeding on this development. Involving 48 mother respondents at TK Ngupaya Mina, data was collected through open questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the respondents' breastfeeding practices are classified as very optimal, reflected in the high coverage of exclusive breastfeeding for a full six months, the duration of breastfeeding lasting up to two years, the implementation of breastfeeding patterns according to the child's request (on-demand), as well as strong support from husbands and families. Children's social emotional development shows diversity; aspects of trust, initiative, empathy and morality develop very well, but independence in eating and dressing as well as feelings of shyness or hesitation when appearing in public still require further stimulation. This research found that breast milk has a significant effect on the social emotional dimensions formed through emotional bonds, namely trust, initiative and empathy, which is in line with Bowlby's attachment theory. On the other hand, the ability to overcome shame and build independence is more determined by parents' parenting patterns after the breastfeeding period ends. Thus, breastfeeding is an important foundation but not the only determinant of a child's social and emotional success. Successful breastfeeding needs to be accompanied by appropriate psychosocial stimulation, especially independence training and providing opportunities for socialization from an early age, so that all social and emotional aspects of children can grow optimally in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine and compare the effectiveness of various background audio conditions on verbal working memory processing among university students. A true experimental design with a within-subject repeated measures layout was employed, involving a net sample size of 30 active undergraduate students from Universitas Indonesia Membangun (INABA) selected through a random sampling technique. All participants received three levels of background audio treatments administered in a counterbalanced rotation: Silence, Instrumental Music, and Vocal Music. Verbal working memory performance was objectively measured using the accuracy scores of a Digit Serial Recall Task ranging from 5 to 9 digits. Primary data were analyzed utilizing a One-Way Repeated Measures ANOVA with post-hoc Pairwise Comparisons adjusted by Bonferroni correction. The results showed a highly significant difference in verbal working memory performance across the three audio conditions, F(2, 58) = 7,423, p = 0,001, with a partial 2 = 0,204. Post-hoc analysis revealed that the Vocal Music session produced the most destructive reduction in sequential recall compared to the Instrumental Music and Silence sessions. This study concludes that the impairment of working memory is dominated by the simultaneous mechanisms of the Changing-State Hypothesis and the Irrelevant Speech Effect within the phonological loop component. The practical implications of this research highlight the critical importance of mitigating noise pollution and implementing absolute silence during verbal learning activities that demand high cognitive concentration.

Abstract

Character development is crucial in education, particularly for elementary school students who are in the early stages of developing their personalities and behaviors. Character values instilled from an early age will serve as the foundation for shaping students’ attitudes, morals, and ethics in the future. Students at SD Negeri 9 Metro Pusat exhibit good attitudes and behaviors, which is largely due to the role of teachers in fostering character values through various teaching methods. This study aims to explain the methods used by teachers to instill character values in students at SD Negeri 9 Metro Pusat. The research method employed is a descriptive approach with a qualitative focus. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were obtained from interviews with the principal and classroom teachers. The study revealed that the ways in which teachers teach character values to students in grades 1 through 6 encompass four strategies, namely: (1) the religious habit-forming strategy; (2) the social character-strengthening strategy; (3) the academic skills development strategy; and (4) the school collaboration strategy. Based on these results, it can be concluded that character education at SD Negeri 9 Metro Pusat is implemented in an integrated and continuous manner through a combination of various strategies, thereby successfully shaping students’ character in accordance with the objectives of character education.

Abstract

Family–school partnership is consistently associated with students’ academic, motivational, behavioral, and socio-emotional development, yet parental participation in many elementary schools remains episodic and event-centered. This systematic review examines how school management can transform parental involvement into a sustainable, reciprocal, and learning-oriented partnership. The review analyzed 24 records identified through a structured literature search and retained 16 studies that directly addressed school–parent collaboration, parental participation, communication, leadership, or partnership management in elementary education. Data were organized in a synthesis matrix and analyzed thematically. Six interdependent management domains emerged: relationship-centered leadership; inclusive, two-way communication; shared governance and co-design; parent capacity development; differentiated and context-responsive engagement; and institutional monitoring for continuity. Digital platforms broaden access and accelerate information exchange, but they are effective only when combined with relational trust, clear communication protocols, attention to digital inequality, and opportunities for meaningful parent agency. The review further indicates that successful partnerships extend beyond attendance at school events to include home-based learning support, joint decision-making, character development, student monitoring, and coordinated problem-solving. The article contributes an integrated management framework that positions parental engagement as an organizational outcome deliberately produced through planning, role clarification, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. Because the original evidence base was limited in database coverage and methodological diversity, future reviews should employ multiple international databases, formal quality appraisal, and transparent PRISMA reporting.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students' low poetry writing skills, particularly in the use of diction, figures of speech, imagery, and concrete words. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project-Based Learning model assisted by Edpuzzle media on the poetry writing skills of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Dua Koto. This research was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population was 182 students, while the sample was 32 students from class XI F7, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a poetry writing performance test assessed based on indicators of diction, figurative language (figures of speech), imagery, and concrete words. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results showed that students' poetry writing skills before treatment were at the Nearly Adequate (HC) level with an average score of 57.03, while after treatment they improved to Good (B) with an average score of 83.28. Thus, there was an increase of 26.25%. The results of the hypothesis test show that t count > t table, so H₁ is accepted and H₀ is rejected. This proves that the Project Based Learning model assisted by Edpuzzle media has a significant effect on students' poetry writing skills.

Abstract

The importance of studying contemporary Islam in this advanced era cannot be overstated, particularly as many people now regard religion as merely a formality, considering it unimportant in daily life, while others simply have no time to attend religious study sessions due to their busy schedules. This study aims to promote the dissemination of contemporary Islam and to encourage people to learn about religion anytime and anywhere through social media. The method used in this research is library research combined with content analysis of relevant social media materials, both textual and video-based. The findings show that social media has increasingly encouraged the public to deepen their understanding of Islam, with many religious figures and institutions now spreading Islamic teachings through platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, while many individuals also use social media as a medium for learning contemporary Islam. It can therefore be concluded that the dissemination of contemporary Islam through social media is highly effective in increasing people's willingness to study Islam, although a persistent weakness lies in the scarcity of verified and trustworthy sources among the available content, so that Muslims must remain vigilant in selecting credible references rather than consuming content indiscriminately.
