Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of utilizing KARAWA (Javanese Script Cards) media and to demonstrate the improvement in student learning outcomes regarding Javanese script material in the Abu Bakar As-Siddiq third-grade class at SDIT Muhammadiyah Sinar Fajar during the 2025/2026 academic year. The study was motivated by low student learning outcomes in Javanese script material, attributed to conventional teaching methods, a lack of creative learning media, and low student motivation regarding this abstract and complex subject matter. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) study conducted over two cycles—comprising planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages in each cycle—utilizing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with KARAWA media. The research subjects consisted of 28 third-grade students. Data were collected through formative tests/assessments, observation, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed a significant improvement: the class average score rose from 54.21 in Cycle I (with a classical mastery rate of 42.86% or 12 students achieving mastery) to 88.18 in Cycle II (with a classical mastery rate of 85.71% or 24 students achieving mastery), thereby meeting the established success indicator (≥85%). Beyond cognitive aspects, the implementation of KARAWA media also enhanced student engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. It can be concluded that the use of KARAWA media is effective in improving Javanese language learning outcomes regarding Javanese script material for third-grade students in the Abu Bakar As-Siddiq class at SDIT Muhammadiyah Sinar Fajar.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed the way people communicate and build relationships across cultural boundaries. Through social media, online communities, and virtual communication platforms, individuals can establish and maintain cross-cultural friendships more easily than ever before. These friendships provide opportunities for cultural exchange, the development of intercultural competence, English language practice, and global networking. However, they also present challenges, including language barriers, cultural misunderstandings, stereotypes, differences in communication styles, and the limitations of digital communication. This article discusses both the opportunities and challenges of cross-cultural friendship in the digital era by drawing on recent literature in intercultural communication and English language education. The discussion highlights the importance of intercultural awareness, empathy, mutual respect, and responsible digital communication in fostering meaningful intercultural relationships. Furthermore, the article emphasizes the role of cross-cultural friendship in supporting English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students’ language development and intercultural competence. It concludes that meaningful cross-cultural friendships can contribute to greater global understanding and prepare students to participate effectively in multicultural academic and professional environments.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Conceptual Change model assisted by interactive video on improving students' conceptual understanding of climate change material in class IV of SD Negeri Cilangla. This research was motivated by the low absorption of essential material by students, which was worsened by the emergence of misconceptions and low student activity in the classroom. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of 50 students, divided into an experimental class and a control class, each with 25 students. Data were collected using a conceptual understanding test and analyzed through normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and N-gain tests. The results showed that the data were normally and homogeneously distributed. The independent sample t-test obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of using the Conceptual Change model assisted by interactive video on improving students' conceptual understanding. The N-gain test results showed that the experimental class average was 77.28% (effective), higher than the control class at 41.12% (less effective). Thus, the Conceptual Change model assisted by interactive video is effective in improving students' conceptual understanding of climate change material in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the quality of the friendship environment and the tendency to use negative language among students of MAN 1 Jakarta. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The sample consisted of 87 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires measuring friendship environment quality and the tendency to use negative language. The collected data were analyzed through validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, linearity, Kendall's Tau-b correlation, simple linear regression, and coefficient of determination tests. The findings indicated a significant positive relationship between the quality of the friendship environment and the tendency to use negative language, with a Kendall's Tau-b correlation coefficient of 0.248 and a significance value of 0.001. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) showed that the friendship environment contributed 9.6% to students' tendency to use negative language, while the remaining 90.4% was influenced by other factors beyond this study. These findings suggest that a close friendship environment may encourage the use of negative language as an expression of intimacy rather than hostility.

Abstract

Social-emotional development is one of the essential aspects that should be fostered during early childhood, as it influences children's ability to interact, regulate emotions, cooperate, and adapt to their social environment. The success of developing this aspect is closely related to effective school management, which includes planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs. This study aimed to describe school management practices in developing the social-emotional aspects of early childhood education at PAUD Desa Kembang Ayun, Pondok Kelapa District, Central Bengkulu Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The participants consisted of the principal and teachers who were directly involved in planning and implementing learning activities. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing based on the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that school management was implemented through four main managerial functions. Planning was conducted by integrating social-emotional development into daily learning programs. Organizing involved the distribution of responsibilities among teachers and the establishment of effective coordination. Implementation was carried out through play-based learning activities, habituation programs, collaborative learning, and positive social interactions that supported children's social-emotional growth. Evaluation was conducted continuously through systematic observation of children's development to improve the quality of learning programs. Supporting factors included teachers' commitment and strong collaboration between the school and parents, while limited educational facilities and insufficient professional development opportunities for teachers were identified as the main challenges. The study concludes that school management at PAUD Desa Kembang Ayun has played a significant role in fostering children's social-emotional development. However, strengthening teachers' professional competence and improving educational facilities are necessary to optimize the implementation of school management in early childhood education.
