Abstract

Career maturity helps students make good career choices by considering their interests, skills, and what jobs might be available in the future. Many senior high school students still have trouble figuring out how to plan and choose their future careers. This study tried to see how well group guidance using the Decision Making Model technique helps students develop their career maturity. The study used a pre-experimental approach where only one group was tested before and after the intervention. The group included ten high school seniors from SMA Negeri 1 Kecamatan Payakumbuh, who were chosen using a random selection method. Data was gathered through a career maturity scale and then looked at using a paired samples t-test and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the average score before the test was 104.9, which is in the moderate range, and it went up to 139.1, which is in the high range, after the test. The t-test comparing the scores before and after the intervention showed a significant improvement (t = 4.746; p < 0.05), meaning the intervention had a clear positive effect on students' career maturity. The N-Gain score of 0.52 showed a moderate amount of improvement. These results show that using group guidance with the Decision Making Model helps students develop their career maturity, especially in areas like planning their careers, exploring different career options, making decisions, learning about jobs, and understanding different types of work.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine differences in students' self-efficacy before and after group counseling using Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) with the rational role-reversal technique in facing the class-promotion examination at SMA Negeri 4 Rejang Lebong Regency. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design was used. The population consisted of 120 grade X students, from whom 10 students indicated to have low self-efficacy were selected through purposive sampling as the research sample. The intervention consisted of four group counseling sessions, one session per topic, each lasting 1 × 60 minutes, held between February and May 2025. Data were collected using a 31-item self-efficacy questionnaire and analyzed using a paired-sample t-test and N-Gain test. Results showed that the mean N-Gain score before the intervention was 0.01 (low category), while the mean N-Gain score after the intervention increased to 0.62 (moderate category), indicating a moderate effect size according to Hake's (1998) criteria. The paired t-test produced t = 2.491 (df = 9) with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), exceeding the critical value of t-table = 2.262, indicating a significant difference between students' self-efficacy before and after the REBT group counseling. These findings suggest that REBT group counseling using the rational role-reversal technique is effective in improving students' self-efficacy when facing academic examinations, although the small sample size and absence of a control group limit generalization of the results.

Abstract

The transformation of learning in the digital era requires teachers to shift from being mere information transmitters to facilitators capable of creating interactive learning environments. However, the reality on the ground reveals that the majority of students still possess low levels of digital literacy, particularly regarding information retrieval and the critical evaluation of content. This issue extends to biology education, where the dominance of conventional teaching methods has hindered the optimal development of digital literacy skills. One instructional tool suitable for modern-era learning is the electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD). This study examines a learning approach utilizing E-LKPD—adapted from a version previously developed by Salsabila & Susantini (2022)—to enhance the digital literacy of 10th-grade students studying biodiversity. The research aims to describe: 1) the implementation of the lesson, 2) digital literacy skill activities, 3) learning outcomes (pre-test and post-test), and 4) student responses. Employing an applied research approach with a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 30 10th-grade students from SMAN 4 Sidoarjo. The measured parameters included lesson implementation, digital literacy skill activities, learning outcomes (pre-test and post-test), and student responses. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. The results indicate that: 1) the teacher's implementation of the lesson was excellent, achieving a score of 99.88%; 2) digital literacy skill activities reached 98.33%; 3) 91.15% of students performed excellently on assessments (pre-test and post-test) and met the required indicators of mastery; and 4) student response to the E-LKPD-based learning was 99.36%, indicating a highly positive reception. Based on these findings, the E-LKPD is effective as a learning medium for teaching biodiversity in biology.

Abstract

21st-century education is characterized by the development of digital technology that demands innovation in learning. One important factor in successful learning is student motivation. However, learning motivation is still relatively low, especially for the broad and complex material of biodiversity. Data from the Education and Culture Center (Puspendik) shows that the average score of the 2019 National Biology Examination was 50.61 and is still considered low. Therefore, this study aims to develop an interactive flipbook media for biodiversity material to increase the learning motivation of grade 10 high school students. This study uses the 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The instruments used include expert validation sheets, readability tests using fry charts, teacher and student responses, observations of learning implementation, and a questionnaire of student responses to learning motivation. The results of the flipbook development research obtained a validity of 3.75 (very valid), the practicality of the flipbook was in the very practical category with the results of the level 10 readability test, 100% teacher response, 98.5% student response, 97.95% implementation observation, and the effectiveness of the flipbook was seen from the achievement of learning motivation indicators which obtained a score of 95.62% (very effective). Thus, the interactive flipbook media for biodiversity material was declared valid, practical, and effective in increasing the learning motivation of grade X high school students.

Abstract

Students’ critical thinking ability can be developed through solving numeracy literacy problems. Critical thinking ability can be influenced by personality factors, including sensing and intuitive types. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach that aimed to describe students’ critical thinking ability in solving numeracy problems in terms of sensing and intuitive personality types. The research subjects consisted of two female students from Class VIII-B at SMP Labschool UNESA 2 who had high and comparable mathematical abilities with one student having a sensing personality type and the other having an intuitive personality type. The data were collected using a personality questionnaire, a mathematics ability test, a critical thinking ability test, and an interview. The data were analyzed based on Perkins & Murphy’s critical thinking indicators, namely clarification, assessment, inference, and strategy. The research results showed that student with a sensing type met three indicators: assessment, inference, and strategy. In contrast, student with an intuitive type met one indicator: inference. (a) For the clarification indicator, both sensing and intuitive students were unable to identify what was known and what was asked in the questions completely. (b) for the assessment indicator, sensing student was able to identify and explain the reasons for choosing some information to solve the problem. In contrast, intuitive student was only able to identify the information used. (c) For the inference indicator, both students were able to show the relationships between the information, deduce the steps needed to solve the problem, and explain the final answer to the problem. (d) For the strategy indicator, sensing student was able to write down the formula accurately and completely, write down and explain the solution steps systematically, and evaluate the solution steps they had used. In contrast, intuitive student was only able to explain the solution steps.
