Abstract

Social isolation is a social developmental problem characterized by students' limited involvement in social interactions and low acceptance by their peers. This condition may hinder students' psychosocial development, self-confidence, and social adjustment. This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of socially isolated students during the process of recovering their social interactions after participating in individual counseling services. This study employed a qualitative approach using a transcendental phenomenological design. The research was conducted in Class X.6 of SMAN 1 Sikur, involving 38 students, from whom four participants were purposively selected based on sociometric assessment results. Data were collected through sociometry, in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using Moustakas' transcendental phenomenological procedures, including epoche, horizontalization, clustering of meanings, textural description, structural description, and synthesis of meanings and essences. The findings revealed five major themes: (1) experiences of alienation and loneliness, (2) fear of social rejection, (3) individual counseling as a space for self-reflection and self-acceptance, (4) the emergence of courage to reinitiate social interactions, and (5) the reestablishment of meaningful social relationships. The findings indicate that the recovery process occurred gradually through changes in self-perception, increased self-confidence, and greater willingness to build relationships with peers. This study concludes that sociometry is an effective instrument for the early identification of socially isolated students, while individual counseling plays a significant role in facilitating the recovery of students' social interactions within the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of the Hypnoteaching learning method in Islamic Religious Education subjects in class VIII.4 of SMP Negeri 2 Makassar City. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach with the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is implemented in two cycles, where each cycle consists of the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 36 students of class VIII.4. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out descriptively quantitatively by calculating the average value and percentage of student learning completion. The results of the study show that the application of the Hypnoteaching method is able to improve student learning outcomes gradually. In the initial condition (pre-test), only 12 students (33%) achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 80, while 24 students (67%) had not completed it. After the implementation of the Hypnoteaching method in Cycle I, the number of students who completed the course increased to 22 people (61%), while 14 people (39%) were still incomplete. Improvements in learning in Cycle II resulted in a significant increase, namely all 36 students (100%) successfully achieved the KKM. In addition to improving learning outcomes, the Hypnoteaching method is also able to increase motivation, activeness, attention, self-confidence, and participation of students during the learning process. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Hypnoteaching method is effective in improving student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects in class VIII.4 of SMP Negeri 2 Makassar City and is worthy of being used as an alternative learning method to create a more active, enjoyable, and meaningful learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the self-confidence of children aged 5-6 years and the implementation of positive reinforcement by teachers in developing self-confidence at Nanda Kindergarten, Palangka Raya City. A qualitative descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The primary informant was the Class B2 teacher, with supporting informants including the principal, Class A1 teacher, two parents, and two children from Class B2. The findings reveal that children's self-confidence develops diversely. Some children have demonstrated independence in completing tasks, courage to ask questions and express opinions, initiative, confidence to perform in front of the class, positive interaction skills, and a sense of responsibility. Teachers applied positive reinforcement through verbal and non-verbal forms, including gestural, proximity, touch, activity, and token reinforcements. The implementation was based on principles of immediacy, meaningfulness, warmth and enthusiasm, variety, specificity, and avoidance of negative responses. This study implies that consistent application of positive reinforcement through verbal and non-verbal methods based on reinforcement principles can optimally support the development of self-confidence in children aged 5-6 years.
