Abstract

The problem in this study is the Lack of Student Confidence Most students in grade III of SDN 95 Palembang feel less confident when speaking in front of the class, which hinders their ability to speak fluently and clearly. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Talking Stick learning model on students' speaking skills in Indonesian subjects in grade III of SDN 95 Palembang. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. The data collection techniques used are tests and documentation. Based on the analysis of the results of the research that has been done, the researcher can conclude that the Talking Stick learning model has an effect on students' speaking skills. Student learning outcomes are higher when using the Talking Stick learning model. This is also shown in the results of the r count value which is smaller than the r table or r count 0.1450 <r table 0.9969. This means that the speaking ability of grade III students in Indonesian language learning at SDN 95 Palembang are included in the very good category.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the reading comprehension ability of fictional texts among fourth-grade students at MI At-Taqwa 42 Pulo Kendal, Bekasi. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a multiple-choice test as the instrument, based on five reading comprehension indicators: (1) identifying the main idea, (2) understanding difficult vocabulary, (3) answering content-based questions, (4) retelling the text in one’s own words, and (5) drawing conclusions from the text. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and testing, involving 21 student participants. The data were analyzed descriptively and presented narratively. The findings revealed that the highest average score was achieved in the ability to identify main ideas (89%), followed by drawing conclusions (85%), answering content-based questions (80%), and both understanding difficult vocabulary and retelling the story (71%). Overall, students demonstrated good reading comprehension ability, especially in understanding the core message and concluding the story. However, weaknesses were identified in vocabulary mastery and the ability to retell stories using their own words. These findings may serve as a reference for developing more effective reading instruction strategies, particularly in teaching fictional texts at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of imaginative drawing activities based on picture stories on the visual intelligence of elementary school students. The research design used is Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, with the research subjects being fifth grade students of Aisyiyah Elementary School, Sukabumi City, who were divided into two groups (experimental and control). The experimental class received treatment in the form of imaginative drawing activities with picture story stimuli, while the control class was given imaginative drawing activities based on keywords. The research instrument was a visual intelligence test conducted before and after the treatment (pretest and posttest). Data analysis was carried out using a paired sample t-test after fulfilling the prerequisite tests for normality and homogeneity. The results showed that the average pretest score of the experimental group was 57.17, increasing to 76.94 in the posttest. While the average score of the control group increased from 54.78 to 61.72. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that imaginative drawing activities based on illustrated stories have a significant influence on the development of visual intelligence in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Islam Walisongo Brondong in the subject of types of figurative language, namely metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. The main problem faced is the low level of student engagement during the learning process, which has an impact on low learning outcomes. Out of 22 students, only 6 were able to achieve the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (LOAC) with a minimum score of 75. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 22 students, with a composition of 8 female students and 14 male students. The data collection techniques used included tests and observations. The results of the study showed a significant increase in learning outcomes and learning activities. Student learning completeness increased from 59.09% in cycle I to 81.82% in cycle II. Teacher activity, which was initially categorized as “good” with a percentage of 71.87%, increased to 93.75% and was categorized as “very good.” Similarly, student activity increased from 72.40% to 88.96%. These findings demonstrate that the application of metaphor cards combined with Jeopardy quizzes in the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model can enhance students' understanding of the material and encourage their active participation in Indonesian language learning.
