Abstract

This study examines the impact of Project-Based Learning (PBL) implementation on students' thinking skills at Sanggar Pandan Malaysia. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with 12 students as participants, divided into experimental and control groups. Data collection utilized pre-test and post-test measurements of critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills through standardized thinking skills assessment instruments. The findings revealed significant improvements in students' thinking skills, with the experimental group showing enhanced collaborative learning, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking capabilities compared to the control group. Statistical analysis indicated significant differences (p < 0.05) between pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group. The study concludes that PBL effectively enhances students' higher-order thinking skills through real-world problem-solving activities and collaborative learning environments. These findings contribute to educational practices in Malaysia, particularly in developing 21st-century skills among students.

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Indonesia is increasing in line with rapid technological advances. However, students' enthusiasm for learning Arabic is still relatively low, as they consider Arabic to be a complicated and boring subject. Interactive applications have emerged to address the challenges of Arabic language learning in schools, particularly at the junior high school/MTs and senior high school/MA levels. This study aims to identify the types of interactive applications frequently used in Arabic language learning at the junior high school/MTs and senior high school/MA levels, as well as to identify the benefits of using such applications. The research method employed was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), analyzing selected articles obtained from the Garuda database. The analysis results show that there are six types of applications that are frequently used, namely Kahoot, WordWall, Canva, PowerPoint, Baamboozle, and Quizalize. The use of these applications has proven to increase students' interest, enthusiasm, and learning outcomes. Additionally, they enhance language skills and create a more enjoyable learning environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether group counseling at the Kepong Guidance Center improves students' career orientation. Final-year students need to have a strong career orientation to prepare themselves for further education. Using a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design, this study employed a quantitative methodology. The research population consisted of eight students—five from Grade V and three from Grade VI—who were all enrolled at the Kepong Guidance Center. Total sampling was the method used, meaning the research sample included the entire population. A validated career orientation scale was used as the research instrument. With a t-value of 4.372, which is greater than the critical t-table value of 2.365 at a 0.05 significance level, the results indicate a substantial increase in students' career orientation scores after the group counseling sessions. The average score increased from 65.25 to 82.75, reflecting a 26.8% improvement in the effectiveness of group counseling. It is evident that students at the Kepong Guidance Center benefit from group counseling in terms of their career orientation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine whether the Kepong Guidance Center's group counseling sessions were successful in improving the self-efficacy of third-grade elementary school children. A person's self-efficacy can be defined as their confidence in their own ability to complete tasks or face challenging situations. Using a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design, this study employed quantitative methods. The research population consisted of ten third-grade students, aged between eight and nine years old, who participated in the Kepong Guidance Center’s counseling group during the 2024–2025 academic year. A saturated sampling method, or total population sampling, was used in the sampling process. The research instrument was adapted to suit the specific characteristics of elementary school students and utilized a validated self-efficacy scale. For this study, a paired sample t-test was used to compare the participants' levels of self-efficacy before and after participating in the support group. According to the data, students’ self-efficacy significantly increased after attending the counseling group (t-value = 8.456; p < 0.05). The average self-efficacy score increased substantially, from a low of 45.2 to a high of 68.8. These results suggest that elementary school students can benefit from group counseling as an alternative intervention to traditional counseling and guidance programs, as group counseling has proven effective in enhancing students' self-efficacy.

Abstract

Vocabulary is a fundamental component of language learning and is essential for developing effective communication skills. This study investigates the perceptions of pre-service English teachers regarding the effectiveness of the Gizmo application as a tool for enriching English vocabulary. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected from 10 pre-service teachers in an English education program through the use of questionnaires and structured interviews. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while the interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal four main themes: (1) Gizmo effectively enriches students’ vocabulary by providing exposure to new and contextualized vocabulary, (2) it serves as a medium that fits students' individual learning needs, especially due to its flexibility and personalized vocabulary input, (3) the application offers interactive, fun, and helpful features such as quizzes and repetition that motivate learners, and (4) it increases learners’ interest and confidence in using English vocabulary. Most participants expressed ingness in using Gizmo in their future teaching practices, while one participant felt the app was too basic for advanced learners. The study demonstrates that Gizmo has the potential to be a valuable digital tool in English language teaching, particularly in vocabulary enrichment. These findings are expected to provide valuable insights for educators, teacher trainers, and developers of language learning technologies, particularly in the context of mobile-assisted language learning (MALL).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of instructional leadership and adhocracy culture on employee performance, with job motivation as an intervening variable, among public elementary school teachers in the Banyumanik District. A quantitative approach was used, with data analysis conducted through the Partial Least Square (PLS) technique. The research sample consisted of 180 public elementary school teachers in the Banyumanik District, selected through purposive sampling. The results show that both instructional leadership and adhocracy culture have a positive and significant influence on job motivation. Instructional leadership also has a direct and significant effect on employee performance, while adhocracy culture does not show a significant effect on employee performance. On the other hand, job motivation serves as an intervening variable that positively and significantly affects employee performance. These findings emphasize that job motivation is a key factor in improving teacher performance, and instructional leadership plays a strategic role in fostering that motivation. Based on these results, it is recommended that school principals strengthen instructional leadership practices and that schools create a work culture that balances innovation and structure to optimally support teacher motivation and performance.
