Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity and discriminatory power of diagnostic test instruments as placement tests on acid-base material and to determine the level of students' cognitive learning. This study was conducted in June - May of the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This diagnostic test instrument development research refers to the Research & Development (R&D) development method. Data collection in this study used tests, interviews, and questionnaires. The research stage begins with potential problems, data collection, product design stage, development of diagnostic test instruments and validation by experts, validity tests, difficulty level tests, and discriminatory power tests on small-scale tests and interpretation of students' cognitive levels on large-scale trials. The results of the assessment by expert validators showed that the criteria for the developed instrument were valid. The results of the analysis of the validity of the test items obtained 25 valid question items. The results of the test of the level of difficulty of the questions obtained 11 easy criteria questions and 14 medium criteria questions. The results of the discriminatory power test obtained 25 question items with very good discriminatory power. The results of the large-scale trial showed that the average interpretation of the results of the diagnostic test instrument was 78.81%. The percentage of students who passed the test was 70.3% while the percentage of students who failed was 30%. This shows that the diagnostic test instrument is effective in that it can improve students' understanding of acid-base chemistry material.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of using Canva application as a learning media in increasing students' interest in learning. Learning media has an important role in creating an interactive and fun learning process, especially in today's digital context. Canva is a web-based graphic design application that provides various features and attractive templates to support learning activities. Through the literature study method, this research examined a number of relevant articles and previous research results regarding the utilization of Canva in the educational environment. The results of the literature review show that the use of Canva as a learning media can provide a more visual, creative, and interesting learning experience for students. The five main articles analyzed showed a significant increase in learning interest after Canva was used in the learning process, both in the form of presentations, infographics, learning videos, and other visual media. In addition to increasing interest in learning, the use of Canva is also proven to make it easier for teachers to develop teaching materials that are more innovative and in accordance with the characteristics of today's students. The use of Canva not only affects the motivational aspect, but also has an impact on better student learning outcomes. Therefore, Canva is recommended as an alternative digital learning media that can create an effective and fun learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model on students’ environmental literacy skills in Grade X at MAN 1 Samarinda. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of class XF and XG, each comprising 30 students. Sampling was conducted using the Simple Random Sampling technique, resulting in class XF as the experimental group and class XG as the control group. To measure students’ environmental literacy covering knowledge, cognitive skills, attitudes, and environmental behavior the N-Gain test was applied. The results of the N-Gain analysis showed that the control group experienced an increase in the low to moderate category, while the experimental group demonstrated more significant improvement, particularly in the behavioral domain, which obtained an N-Gain score of 0.86 categorized as high. This indicates the effectiveness of the TPS model in encouraging changes in students’ environmental behavior. Furthermore, hypothesis testing was conducted using the Mann-Whitney U test with a 5% significance level. The results showed a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, meaning there was a statistically significant difference. Thus, it can be concluded that the Think Pair Share learning model has a significant effect on students’ environmental literacy in Grade X at MAN 1 Samarinda.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of using digital chemistry learning media on students' concept understanding in chemistry learning. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from five scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025, focusing on the use of digital media such as learning videos, interactive multimedia, augmented reality, and online evaluation platforms. The results of the study show that the use of digital media can improve students' concept understanding of chemical materials, especially on abstract concepts. Learning videos and interactive multimedia help visualize concepts, increase learning motivation, and support information retention. The use of augmented reality also provides a more interactive and contextual learning experience, and supports the improvement of students' digital literacy. The conclusion of this study states that digital learning media has great potential in creating more meaningful and in-depth chemistry learning, but it needs to be balanced with infrastructure readiness and teacher competency development in integrating technology effectively.

Abstract

The low conceptual understanding of straight motion among high school students, often caused by conventional and less interactive teaching methods, served as the foundation of this study. This research to examine the influence of using a straight motion physics learning application on students’ conceptual comprehension. A quantitative approach was employed through a quasi-experimental method using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The experimental group engaged with an interactive Android-based application, while the control group received instruction through traditional methods. The study addresses the gap in the lack of empirically tested game-based educational media in high school physics learning. Analysis revealed a statistically significant difference in posttest results (p = 0.039), with the experimental group scoring higher on average than the control group. The findings suggest that interactive application-based media exerts a positive influence on students’ learning motivation, which in turn enhances their conceptual understanding, particularly in the study of straight motion.

Abstract

The ability to argue well is one of the important requirements in science learning. However, learning that aims to develop students' argumentation skills has not been implemented properly. One solution is to provide learning materials that contain indicators of argumentation skills. These indicators will be presented in the form of an E-Module based on Question Prompt Scaffolding. The purpose of this research and development was to test the validity and readability of the E-Module. This E-Module focuses on the theme of Nutrient Pressure on Green Plants with the aim of improving the argumentation skills of eighth-grade students. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D). The Research and Development (R&D) model is based on the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Various instruments were used in this study, including a validation questionnaire evaluated by three experts. These experts included subject matter experts, media experts, and science teachers. Additionally, a readability questionnaire was used to measure the readability of the E-Module. The validation results showed that the E-Module achieved an average score of 86% and fell into the “Highly Valid” category. This assessment was based on the subject matter expert's score of 82%, the media expert's score of 91%, and the science teacher's score of 86%. The readability of the E-Module was determined based on students' responses and achieved a score of 94%, categorized as “Very Good.” This proves that the Science E-Module based on Question Prompt Scaffolding with the theme of Nutrient Pressure on Green Plants is considered valid by all validators.

Abstract

Technology is currently developing rapidly in the education era. An Example of technology that used as learning media through a smartphone is Augmented Reality. The purpose of doing this literature review was to determine the effect of using Augmented Reality in training students' mental models of science learning. This research used narrative literature review method, by analyzing several sources of literature related with the relationship between Augmented Reality and mental models in science learning. The result of the review shows that Augmented Reality can be applied in learning science, namely chemistry, physics and biology and can train learners' mental models by combining three levels of learners by combining three levels of representation, namely macroscopic, symbolic, and submicroscopic especially in chemistry.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the use of a mixed learning model of station rotation on the critical thinking skills of junior high school students with the science material of Earth Structure and Its Development. This study uses a quantitative method, a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. Two classes were used, one experimental class and one control class, each of which used a different learning model. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling or non-random sampling, with the type of sampling being purposive sampling. The results showed that the discovery learning model had a greater influence on students' critical thinking skills compared to the mixed learning model of station rotation. After conducting research and data analysis, a result was obtained that there was no effect of the use of a mixed learning model of station rotation on students' critical thinking skills on the material of Earth Structure and Its Development. These result were obtained from a non-parametrik test (Mann Whitney test), namely the Assymp.2 sig(2 tailed) value of 0,151 > 0,05 which can be said to reject the research hypothesis.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by video media on the critical thinking abilities on the material Bacteria. The ability to think critically is an important competency for the 21st century that needs to be developed in the biology learning process, especially in abstract and complex material such as bacteria. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes selected purposively, namely the experimental class which received the PBL model treatment assisted by video media, and the control class which used the conventional learning model. The instrument used is a critical thinking test which was developed based on critical thinking indicators according to Ennis. The data analysis technique used is the Independent Sample t-Test with a significance level of 5%. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the t test on students' critical thinking skills showed a significance value (0.000 < 0.005). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence from the use of the Problem Based Learning learning model assisted by video media on students' critical thinking skills in the Bacteria material.

Abstract

Construction operation modeling is carried out to understand the behavior of the construction operating system better. Further, construction operation modeling can provide an overview of productivity and duration of completion, as well as make it easier to solve problems from the perspective of the whole model. In this paper, we conduct a CYCLONE modeling simulation in construction operations on the PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) Project to build the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway (Jakarta- Bandung / KCJB Fast Train using CFG Pile Construction operations. The CFG Pile construction in section 3 is carried out for 21,000 points and has repeated construction work so that it can perform a cyclone method simulation using productivity analysis with the help of MATLAB software (Simulink-Simevent). This simulation is executed for 30 cycles until the productivity results from the simulation have reached steady state conditions. Productivity result from both softwares produce almost the same results, respectively 0.675 from the COST program and 0.7427 from the MATLAB program. Based on the results of the sensitivity analysis, it can be concluded that the addition of resources such as number of drilling rigs, concrete pumps, and mixes truck will increase project productivity.
