Abstract

This research aims to explain how the Quizizz application, used with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach, was designed and tested to help fourth-grade students improve their reading comprehension, specifically in finding the main idea of informative texts. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the Borg & Gall model, with trials on nine students (small group) and 26 students (large group). This assessment integrates local wisdom content in informative text with gamification through the Quizizz application. The validation results show that the assessment is highly feasible, scoring 88.5 (media) and 89.7 (material). The effectiveness of the assessment is evidenced by an increase in the average pre-test score from 37.69 to 86.19 in the post-test and student completeness from 0% to 100%. Statistical tests showed significant differences before and after using the assessment, with an N-Gain score of 0.827908 (high category), proving their effectiveness in improving students' reading comprehension. This assessment is an evaluation tool that encourages active student involvement.

Abstract

This research aims to describe (1) the development design, (2) determine the feasibility, and (3) determine the effectiveness of the Ketep Pass picture book learning media based on augmented reality. This research uses the ADDIE model of research and development (R&D). The research population was 31 students: 9 students for small group trials (class IV A) and 22 students for large group trials (class IV B) of SD Negeri Banyuroto 1 Magelang, Central Java. Data was collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, tests, and documentation, with qualitative and quantitative analysis. The media development design integrates local wisdom content into information texts. The validation results show that this media has a high feasibility level. The results of the paired sample t-test confirm significant differences before and after using the developed media. Then, the N-Gain test on the small and large group showed a high category which prove that the Ketep Pass picture book media based on augmented reality is efficacious in improving students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of critical and democratic thinking abilities on students using the 'make-a-match' learning model and those using the lecture model. The research sample was 94 students of PGSD classes F and E. The research employed questionnaires and interviews as its primary research instruments. Based on the research results, there is evidence that the treatment (experiment) significantly affected the critical and democratic thinking skills of students who were given the treatment. Furthermore, the results of the paired t-test and comparison of the post-test scores of students who took part in the research using the make-a-match learning model were a score of 89.48, compared to the lecture/text learning model, with a score of 66.89. In conclusion, the make-a-match learning model affects the critical and democratic thinking abilities of prospective elementary school teacher students.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and validate a comprehensive knowledge management framework to improve teacher professional development and build capacity for introducing innovations to learning economics. The data were collected using quantitative research design with a cross-sectional survey of a sample of 401 secondary school economics teachers and analyzed using SEM-PLS. It is found that when the readiness for digital transformation exists, the knowledge management processes (65.3% and 60.6%) contribute to pedagogical enhancement and knowledge adoption among teachers. The contributions of this study to the literature are as follows: (1) This work involves studying how knowledge management processes mediate the relationship between digital transformation readiness and teacher professional development outcomes, and (2) it validates an integrated framework with good explanatory power and predictive relevance. However, it is found that if the full benefits of e-learning are to be realized, there must be a well-integrated technological infrastructure and organizational support, together with the teachers’ digital literacy.

Abstract

This research investigates how the Program Pengenalan Lapangan or PLP (the School Field Experience Program) influences English teacher candidates’ preparedness. Using a 22-item questionnaire, data were collected from 41 participants through a quantitative descriptive method. Results show that 78.71% believe the school field experience program enhanced their readiness, particularly in instructional planning, classroom management, communication, and character development. The high percentage of positive responses suggests that the school field experience program effectively bridges theory and practice. However, lower parental communication and administrative task scores indicate aspects needing improvement. The research highlights the value of experiential learning in teacher education and suggests enhancing the program through reflective teaching and stronger mentorship.

Abstract

Democracy can thrive well in societies where individuals practice democratic values in their daily lives. Such democratic attitudes can be obtained through education that applies democratic principles. This study aims to explore how students in Indonesian high schools perceived the democratic attitudes exhibited by their teachers during instruction. Guided by a quantitative research design, the study involved 180 respondents conveniently chosen from 12 high schools in West Sumatra, South Kalimantan, DI Yogyakarta, and DKI Jakarta provinces. Data were elicited through a survey questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study findings indicated that participants viewed teachers in provinces with a high democracy index as demonstrating democratic attitudes on most survey items, in contrast to those in areas with a low democracy index. The participants noted that teachers' democratic attitudes in teaching enhance their motivation to study and elevate their academic achievement. This study underscores the necessity of fostering teachers’ democratic attitudes in teaching through teacher professional development programs.

The research results showed that lecturers’ interpersonal and spiritual dimensions had a positive and significant effect, confirming the central role of lecturers in building social relationships and spiritual values in the educational environment. On the other hand, the influence on staff was positive but insignificant, while on students, it tended to be negative and insignificant.
