Abstract

Background: During adolescence, there are several problems that occur, one of which is bullying. There are several factors that influence bullying behavior in adolescents, one of which is self-esteem. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and the tendency of bullying behavior in ninth-grade adolescents at MTS Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. This research is a quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with a sample size of 56 students. Data were collected using self-esteem and bullying tendency questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Results: Based on data analysis, the results showed a value of r = -0.353 and a significance level of 0.008 < 0.05, which means the hypothesis is accepted. The results indicate that there is a relationship with a weak correlation strength and a negative correlation direction between self-esteem and the tendency of bullying behavior in ninth-grade adolescents at MTS Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Conclusion: The lower the self-esteem, the higher the tendency to engage in bullying behavior. Conversely, the higher the self-esteem, the lower the tendency to engage in bullying behavior. Adolescents with low self-esteem tend to exhibit behaviors such as feeling incapable of building good relationships with others and being easily offended. As a result, these adolescents may engage in actions such as hurting, mocking, kicking, or fighting with others, which can be considered bullying behavior.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Objective: The number of patients undergoing fracture surgery with Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) continues to increase each year, accompanied by postoperative complications such as pain, decreased muscle strength, and limited mobility. Early mobilization is considered an effective intervention to prevent these complications. This study aimed to determine the effect of early mobilization on muscle strength and pain reduction in postoperative ORIF patients. Methods: This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test approach. The sample consisted of 16 patients in each group, selected using the Federer formula. The intervention group received early mobilization and analgesics, while the control group received analgesics only. Muscle strength was measured using the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) scale, and pain levels were assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with a significance level of <0.05. Results: The early mobilization group showed an improvement in muscle strength to level 3 in 68.8% of patients and a significant reduction in pain, with 87.5% of patients reporting mild pain. In contrast, the control group reached only level 2 muscle strength in 87.5% of patients, and only 31.3% experienced mild pain. The p-values were 0.002 for muscle strength and 0.001 for pain level Conclusion: Early mobilization is more effective than standard care in improving muscle strength and reducing pain in postoperative ORIF patients. Failure to implement early mobilization may lead to complications such as joint stiffness, contractures, muscle weakness, and circulatory issues that increase the risk of thrombosis. It is recommended that ward nurses provide education and implement early mobilization interventions in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Abstract

Background: Triple Elimination is a government policy aimed at reducing the incidence of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B transmission from mother to child. Low coverage of Triple Elimination screening in Indonesia is partly due to pregnant women's lack of knowledge about the benefits of screening, stigma surrounding sexually transmitted infections, and a perception of low risk of those diseases. Objective: This study aims to analyze the association between parity, risk perception, and risk benefit with Triple Elimination screening among pregnant women. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using quota sampling, involving 30 pregnant women as respondents. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered via the Google Form platform. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent’s characteristics, independent variables (parity, risk perception, and benefit perception), and participation in the Triple Elimination screening. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test and Fisher’s Exact test. Results: Most respondents were aged 20–35 years (73.3%), had completed senior high school education (50.0%), were unemployed (66.7%), and had a good knowledge of the Triple Elimination program (86.7%). The majority had non-risk parity (76.7%), half had good risk perception (50.0%), and most had good benefit perception (73.3%). Participation in the Triple Elimination screening was recorded at 50%. Bivariate analysis showed that parity was not associated with participation in Triple Elimination screening (p=0.666), whereas perceived risk (p=0.011) and perceived benefit (p=0.002) were significantly associated with participation. Conclusion: There was no association between parity and participation in Triple Elimination screening. However, significant associations were observed between perceived risk and perceived benefit with screening participation. Future research is recommended to analyse all aspects of perception using the Health Belief Model framework.

Abstract

Objective : Independence in activities of daily living (ADL) refers to the fundamental ability to perform daily tasks without dependence. A lack of independence in children with intellectual disabilities can lead to increased reliance on their environment and delays in skill development. Methods: This research employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population comprised 45 parents of children with intellectual disabilities, with a final sample of 40 respondents selected using consecutive sampling. Data were collected through a parenting style questionnaire and the Katz Index of Independence in ADL questionnaire.and data were analyzed using the Contingency Coefficient Test. Results: The findings reveal that parents who adopted an authoritative parenting style tend to have children with a high level of independence (65.7%). In contrast, an authoritarian parenting style resulted in children with moderate dependency (100%), while a permissive parenting style led to severe dependency (100%). Conclusion: Based on these findings, implementing authoritative parenting strategies could enhance independence in ADL for children with intellectual disabilities, reducing their dependency on external assistance and promoting skill development.
