Abstract

Pharmacists and pharmaceutical personnel need to support improving the people’s quality of life during the covid-19 outbreak by providing pharmaceutical services, one of which is the Drug Information Service (PIO). Many regions in Indonesia, including DKI Jakarta, have placed large-scale social restrictions since March 2020. In connection with that, the Department of Pharmacy of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (PSFUAJ) organized an online PIO program. This program aimed to provide the service of Covid-19 drug-related information and education to the community. The PIO was carried out from April to July 2020 via whatsapp, email, and telephone. In addition, health education was provided through e-flyers, published on Instagram @pio_farmasi_uaj. Eighty percent of the questions were submitted via whatsapp, while the rest was sent via email. Most of the questions submitted (80%) were categorized into self-edication. Further examination shows that the common questions were related to drug choice (27.78%). These data indicate that most questioners tend to provide self-medication first and that they will only see a doctor if they have not recovered or experienced any improvement. PSFUAJ will continue running this program and disseminating this program to a broader audience.

Abstract

The women’s cooperative “Usaha Wanita Mandiri” was established as a forum for women to be economically empowered. However, in the enforcement of rules of savings and loan activities, the management often encounters problems with loan repayments in each installment period. This program aimed to educate supervisors, administrators, and coordinators in charge of the Kopwan Utama group regarding the importance of keeping regulatory archives in the form of digital videos and facilitating the dissemination of information on savings and loan regulations that are still in paper form. The community service program consists of focus group discussions and video socialization. The formulation of regulations and the video socialization were conducted face-toface and through online communication platforms, such as whatsapp and youtube. Because of the pandemic, issues arose during the focus group discussions and socialization, wherein some stages were not attended by all participants. The dissemination of the video via whatsapp and youtube is acknowledged by the supervisors, administrators, and coordinators of the groups to help provide their members with videos on savings and loans.

Abstract

Insomnia is one of the most common health problems. Approximately one-third of adults show symptoms related to insomnia. Around 9%-15% of people have sleeping disorders dan suffer the consequences of it in the daytime, and roughly 6% suffer from diagnosed insomnia. Although the prevalence and significant effects of insomnia have been known, sleep disorders are still rarely diagnosed and receive proper treatments. Lack of sleep will create sleep debt that the body will have to compensate for by adding more sleep time in the next day. Should this compensation fail to be fulfilled, the individual will suffer from excessive sleepiness, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, and disturbances in performing daily activities. Chronic lack of sleep can also decrease memory and cognitive abilities, trigger mood disorders and even cause hallucination. The Sidang Jemaat Allah Bethlehem church (GSJA) is one of the biggest churches in Bogor. The people of GSJA’s knowledge of healthy sleep patterns and their sleep quality was unknown. Therefore, it was necessary to provide sleep health education to raise the awareness of the importance of healthy sleep patterns, both the quantity and the quality, in practicing a healthy lifestyle. We also assessed their sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The data show that out of 41 participants, 30 of them (73.11%) have poor sleep quality (score ≥ 5) and most of them were in the 71-80-year-old age group. The participants' level of understanding about sleep hygiene has increased after the event.

Abstract

The covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus, which has become a pandemic worldwide, including Indonesia. One of the red zones of positive cases is Bogor Regency, with its case counts consistently increasing every day. To prevent the spread of the covid-19, education and provision of facilities are therefore needed. This community service activity aimed to educate and instill awareness among the residents, peddlers, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and cleaners about preventing the spread of the covid-19 through handwashing facilities and masks. The community service activity was carried out in RW 13, Padasuka Village, Ciomas District, Bogor Regency. This activity began with the placement of posters in strategic locations and direct instructions on preventing the covid-19. In addition, 100 masks were distributed to the residents, peddlers, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and cleaners who were still actively working in RW 13, Ciomas District. Ten handwashing facilities were also provided in strategic locations. The results showed that the counseling and mentoring managed to nurture the residents' awareness to wash hands and wear masks correctly. The monitoring process also indicated that residents were becoming increasingly concerned about maintaining cleanliness and wearing masks correctly when doing outdoor activities. This service activity fostered new habits of the residents, peddlers, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and cleaners to wash their hands properly and wear masks during the pandemic.

Abstract

The statistical data of the Kepahiang Regency in 2018 shows that more than 90% of Kabawetan people worked in the agricultural sector as vegetable and coffee farmers. Due to the hilly morphology of the settlements, the settlement configurations should conform with the land contours. As the majority of the coffee farmers have limited land for drying the harvested coffee, portable architectural technology can then help overcome the problems with the limited house yard. This tool is used as a space for drying their coffee, especially during the rainy season. The method to transfer the portable coffee dryer design to the communities is by training them how to use the technology and introducing it with the help of props (prototypes). This introductory training was conducted for the Permata Sari farmer group in the farmer's house yard in Bukit Sari Village, Kabawetan District. The training activities included coordinating with the involved farmers, making coffee dryer designs, testing simple tools, and introducing the mobile coffee dryer technology to Permata Sari farmer group members in Bukit Sari Village, Kabawetan District Kepahiang Regency. Portable coffee dryers are urgently needed considering the contoured lands, limited space, and the frequency of rainy days in Kabawetan exceeds that of sunny days. However, this tool still requires further development, where it can be used as a sorting tool, particularly for sorting out the red pickled coffee that is dried using this tool.
