Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the outdoor learning method in enhancing Arabic speaking skills among 11th-grade students at Pondok Pesantren Darul Ulum Indragiri. Employing a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design, 12 students were assessed using structured tests before and after receiving treatment through four sessions of outdoor learning activities. Data were analyzed quantitatively using SPSS 27.0. Results show a significant improvement in students' speaking skills, with average scores rising from 62.77 (pre-test) to 93.33 (post-test). The paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000, confirming that the method effectively improves speaking performance. The outdoor setting increased student engagement and provided a contextual environment conducive to practicing Arabic in real-life scenarios. This method not only improved vocabulary recall but also boosted student confidence and participation. Findings support the integration of outdoor learning into Arabic language instruction, particularly in environments that demand higher student interaction. Future research should involve a larger population and longer duration to validate the long-term impact of this method.

Abstract

Understanding Arabic syntax, especially verbal (jumlah fi‘liyyah) and nominal sentences (jumlah ismiyyah), is essential for comprehending Qur’anic texts. However, grammar learning in schools often remains theoretical and lacks contextual application. This study aims to develop Quran-based Nahwu Tatbiqi teaching materials to enhance students’ practical understanding of these sentence structures. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Participants included Madrasah Aliyah students and Arabic teachers, with data collected through questionnaires, tests, expert validation sheets, and observations. Expert validation in media, content, and language confirmed the feasibility of the product. The materials were then tested through field implementation with a pretest–posttest design. Data analysis employed SPSS 27 using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings indicate that the developed materials are valid and effective, demonstrated by a significant increase in students’ average scores from 62.15 (pretest) to 82.47 (posttest). This improvement shows that integrating theoretical grammar with Qur’anic-based contextual practice bridges the gap between abstract knowledge and applied understanding. The results confirm that the developed teaching materials enhance grammatical comprehension and provide meaningful contributions to Arabic learning in educational institutions. Moreover, this study suggests further exploration of similar context-based materials for other aspects of Arabic language learning to enrich pedagogical practices.

Abstract

Assessment is an integral part of the language learning process, including in the teaching of Arabic at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI/Islamic elementary schools). One of the main skills to be developed is maharah kalam (speaking skill), which requires students to actively and communicatively use the Arabic language. This study aims to examine the speaking assessment techniques found in the Arabic Language Textbook for Grade III MI published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2020, and to propose an innovation through authentic assessment using a communicative approach that is more contextual and meaningful. This research employs a library research method with content and descriptive analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the assessment techniques in the textbook remain conventional, focusing on vocabulary pronunciation, dialogue repetition, and simple oral responses. These techniques do not fully reflect the real-life communicative use of language. Therefore, there is a need for authentic assessment innovations based on a communicative approach through activities such as role-playing, interviews, discussions, and oral presentations. Such innovations can provide a more comprehensive overview of students' competencies—cognitive, affective, and psychomotor—and support the goal of Arabic language instruction as an active communication tool.

Abstract

Arabic language learning has an important role as an international language. One of the main challenges faced by beginners is the lack of use of innovative learning media, so that the learning process becomes monotonous and less interesting, especially in understanding mufrodat afrād al-usrah. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Mind map and word wall learning media were applied to help students understand mufrodat afrād al-usrah. Data were collected through observations and interviews to describe the effectiveness of the media. The use of mind map and word wall media was proven to improve students' understanding of mufrodat afrād al-usrah. Students showed improvement in remembering and applying the learnt vocabulary. Data analysis showed that mind maps help students organise information visually, making it easier to understand and remember new words. Word wall serves as a constant reminder that motivates students to actively interact with the vocabulary. The combination of these two media reduces boredom and increases student engagement in the learning process. Data showed that the average pretest score of students was 60, which increased significantly to an average posttest score of 80 after the application of these media. This indicates that the application of innovative learning media can replace conventional methods that are less effective in improving mufrodat comprehension. The application of innovative learning media such as mind map and word wall can overcome boredom and monotony in Arabic language learning, thus increasing students' motivation to learn.

Abstract

In a multicultural educational environment, stereotypes and prejudices can be challenges that affect the effectiveness of learning, including in Arabic language education. Naatiq International Arabic Course Pare Kediri, as an Arabic language learning center that accommodates students from various cultural backgrounds, faces complex social dynamics. This study aims to identify the forms of stereotypes and prejudices that occur in Arabic language education at the Naatiq International Arabiyah Course Pare Kediri, analyze the causal factors, and formulate effective strategies to overcome these problems. The research method used is a qualitative approach with observation and interview techniques. The results of this study are that to overcome stereotypes and prejudices in multicultural education at the Naatiq International Arabiyah Course Pare Kediri, they not only adhere to knowledge and introduction to Arabic culture through the cultural introduction curriculum but also dare to speak and socialize with each other in discussions between classes to make it comfortable to learn without fear of making mistakes in pronouncing the language. So that Arabic language learning will be absorbed and cultural introduction will be more easily accepted. on the concept that differences in culture, ethnicity, and background are riches that enrich learning, not threats.

Abstract

The problem of translating the word شعراء/syu’arā’ into para pemusik has caused reactions from various groups, including the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council). To unravel this problem, translation accuracy is needed through semantic triangle (meaningful triangle) and the achievement of weltanscaaung (worldview of the language owner) in the semantic study of Toshihiko Izutsu. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with primary data obtained from the dictionary Lisan Arabi, the Tafsir Ruhul Ma’ani and the Tafsir of Zamakhsyari. The results of this study found that the problem of translating the word syu’arā’ into para pemusik is a fatal type of problem, because the concept meaning/fikrah angle in semantic triangle does not reach weltanschauung. The process of tracing the achievement of the weltanschauung of the word syu'arā' was carried out in 3 stages; 1) searching for basic meaning, 2) searching for relational meaning, and 3) searching for historical meaning. These three stages found that the meaning of syu'arā' is people who express words that are beautifully arranged in wazn and qafiyah, who are insightful and imaginative. This study proves that the correct translation of the word syu’arā’ is ‘para penyair’ not ‘para pemusik’. This study contributes to providing an accurate translation of the words syi’ir/شعر and syā’ir/شاعر in Indonesian.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze research trends in the development of Arabic language learning media based on the Canva application in Indonesia from 2019 to 2024. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA guidelines, using the Publish or Perish software to retrieve relevant scientific publications from the Google Scholar database. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 16 articles were selected for descriptive and visual analysis. The findings reveal a significant increase in publication numbers in 2024. The most commonly developed media was presentation-based media, with a primary focus on enhancing speaking skills (maharah kalam). Furthermore, the most frequently used research methodology was Research and Development (R&D). These results highlight Canva as a promising, innovative, and effective tool for Arabic language teaching across various educational levels in Indonesia. This study is expected to contribute both theoretically and practically to the field of digital-based learning media and to serve as a valuable reference for future research in related areas.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the role of Kamus Inthiq! in enhancing students’ speaking skills (maharah kalām) through a deep learning approach at Pondok Pesantren Al-Kautsar Dendang. Kamus Inthiq! is an innovative, thematic, and digital-based learning medium specifically designed to help students understand, memorize, and use Arabic vocabulary in various communicative and real-life contexts. This research employed a descriptive-qualitative method with a field study approach, involving observations, interviews, and documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of its application. The findings indicate that the active and consistent use of Kamus Inthiq! in Arabic learning activities significantly contributes to students’ vocabulary enrichment, contextual understanding, and the development of speaking confidence and fluency. The deep learning approach applied in this process emphasizes repetition, reflection, and experiential learning, enabling students to internalize language patterns more effectively. Furthermore, Kamus Inthiq! does not merely function as a static digital dictionary, but as an interactive learning medium that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and communication-oriented learning experiences. Its integration into the curriculum also supports a more dynamic and student-centered Arabic language learning environment.

Abstract

The study explores innovation in assessing Arabic writing skills (maharah kitabah) through a project-based approach grounded in Transaction Theory. It critiques the 2020 Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Arabic textbook for grade XI, highlighting its limited exercises that nurture students’ written self-expression. Employing library research, the study reviews literature relevant to writing assessment and develops a theoretical model for evaluating writing competence. Findings reveal that project-based assessment can be structured into three core stages—planning, implementation, and reporting—supported by a comprehensive rubric. Assessment aspects include sentence structure, word formation, grammar usage (nahwu–sharaf), writing style, content quality, creativity, vocabulary accuracy, and use of authentic Arabic expressions. This model allows for both formative and summative evaluation, ensuring objectivity and clarity. It not only measures technical proficiency but also provides space for students to express aesthetic, cultural, and philosophical dimensions through writing. Ultimately, the proposed assessment model aims to enhance the quality of Arabic writing instruction and overcome the limitations found in the current textbook evaluations.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to investigate how knowledge of Nahwu (Arabic syntax) and Sharf (Arabic morphology) helps participants of the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) in the Indonesian Language Qur'anic Tafsir category strengthen their interpretation skills, as well as to identify the challenges participants face in mastering these two sciences for interpreting the Qur'an. This study takes a qualitative method, with 10 MTQ participants in the Indonesian Language Qur'anic Tafsir category and one of their trainers serving as a supportive informant. The data was gathered by observation, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using interpretation techniques, thematic categorization, and data reduction. The results of the study reveal that the knowledge of Nahwu and Sharf considerably helps participants understand the structure of Qur'anic verses and interpret them more precisely, thereby improving their exegetical skills. However, while mastering the knowledge of Nahwu and Sharf, the participants face several problems, which undoubtedly produce diversity in their interpretation skills. These problems include the complexities of Nahwu and Sharf laws, a lack of preparation time, training methods, limited references, and distinctions in educational background and environment. The findings of this study can be used as a resource for MTQ participants in the Indonesian Language Qur'anic Tafsir category to improve their Qur'anic exegesis skills.
