Abstract

This study proposes Islamic education for disabilities as a new way of developingan Islamic parenting model applied at the integrated blind orphanages of AisyiyahPonorogo, Indonesia. This research method is a qualitative study using in-depthinterview techniques, participant observation, documentation, and content analysis. This study found that the Islamic parenting model applied at the Aisyiyah Ponorogo is more dominated by authoritative parenting styles than permissiveand authoritarian parenting. This finding confirms criticism and a solutionto Baumrind’s parenting theory on the one hand. It means that the design ofauthoritative and Islamic parenting is more helpful in producing a parentingstyle oriented towards a more positive aspect, achieving, independent, religious,responsible, and closer to the child’s future. The Islamic-based parenting modelapplies the parental model of flexibility and adaptability involving some aspects ofparenting style, work program, paradigm, method, and instrument. The research’ssignificance is to understand the Islamic parenting model applied to integratedblind orphanages of Aisyiyah Ponorogo that can be used as role models for otherorphanages throughout Indonesia. The current research brings value and can beused as a lesson learned for other Muslim communities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose- This study aims to develop teaching materials for listening skills based on local content, determine the level of validity of teaching materials, and measure the level of effectiveness of the developed teaching materials.  Design/Methodology/Approach- This study uses research and development methods based on the Borg and Gall model with special treatment from researchers. Sources of data from students, expert councils, and policy makers in Islamic boarding schools were obtained through observation, interviews, and tests. The data will then be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively simultaneously with interactive analysis and t-test. The subjects of this study were all female students of the intensive Arabic language program who were determined through a purposive technique, with a total of 25 samples.  Findings- Among the results of this study were the results of the pre-test reaching 1882 with a rate of 75.28, while in the post-test it reached 2045 with a rate of 82.16. The effectiveness of the developed material is seen at a score of 12.69 which is greater than the table score at the 2.80 level. Thus teaching materials developed based on local content are effective in improving the listening skills of female students of the intensive Arabic language program. Research Limitation/Implications- The formal finding of this research is that teaching materials that are arranged thematically based on local content can improve Arabic listening skills for students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the assessment of Al-Qur'an learning by using the poetry method. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach using the descriptive-analytical method. The results of this study reveal that the assessments used in tahfidz Qur’an learning with the poetry method are the mid-semester assessment (PTS) and the end-semester assessment (PAS). The form of assessment used is an oral test in the form of a sima’ reading test, verse-connecting test, and a comprehensive test. This assessment is carried out 4 times a year. Students are declared passed when they get a minimum score of B with a minimum score of 81 and vice versa are declared to repeat when they get a C score with a score of 70. This assessment is not only on memorizing the Qur'an but memorizing poems is also assessed by the examiner. The findings in this study indicate that students have quite good abilities when tested using the sima' reading test. Students are lower in their abilities if they are tested by verse-connecting questions. Then students have a very low ability if tested using a comprehensive test.

Abstract

Hidayatul Arifin Islamic Boarding School (Hidar) Sawocangkring Wonoayu Sidoarjo is a boarding school that has 3 programs, namely the Entrepreneur Program, the Yellow Book Study Program, and the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an Program. The purpose of this study was to determine the Al-Qur'an tahfidz learning system at Hidayatul Arifin Islamic Boarding School and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the tahfidz learning system. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive research method. In qualitative research, the results of written documentation, interviews and other sources such as: scientific journals, archival sources and documents are taken. The results showed that the tahfidz learning system at the Hidayatul Arifin Islamic Boarding School was to produce students who had an understanding of the yellow book, hafidz Al-Qur'an and Entrepreneurs. The tahfidz teachers who teach tahfidz at the Hidayatul Arifin Islamic Boarding School are hafidz who also understand the book of the Salaf. The learning media used by the Hidayatul Arifin Islamic Boarding School are print media and audio-visual media. Furthermore, the learning methods used by the Hidayatul Arifin Islamic Boarding School are the Bin-Nazhar method, the Talaqqi method, and the Poetry Method.

Abstract

يشعر الجمهور بعدم الدراية نحو مصطلح خدمات التعلم لكونه مفهوما جديدا في سياق التعليم العالي في إندونيسيا. غالبًا ما يُساء تفسير خدمات التعلم أو يتم ربطه بممارسات العمل الميداني أو الدراسات الميدانية أو دراسات الرحلات أو التدريب الداخلي أو ما شابه. في سياق الجامعات التي تقدم برامج تعليمية، يُساء تفسير خدمات التعلم أيضًا ويعتبر متناسبًا مع ممارسة الخبرة الميدانية. ويوجد أولئك الذين يعتبرون خدمات التعلم هي نفسها محاضرات العمل الحقيقي كما تفعل عادةً بجامعة سونان أمبيل الإسلامية الحكومية سورابايا. على عكس أشكال الأنشطة المذكورة أعلاه، فإن خدمات التعلم في الأساس هي شكل من أشكال التعلم التجريبي حيث يحاول الطلاب دمج خدمات المجتمع مع التعلم الذي تم تصميمه في المحاضرات لإثراء مادة المحاضرة. نوع البحث المستخدم هو البحث الكمي الوصفي. يستخدم هذا النوع من المسح الوصفي لوصف السكان محل الدراسة. يركز هذا البحث على السلوك الذي يحدث ويتكون من بيانات متغيرة، ونتائج أنشطة خدمات التعلم في تعلم مواد تدريس اللغة العربية هي أن الطلاب يكتسبون الخبرة والمعرفة، بالإضافة إلى تحسين القدرات الأكاديمية، يمكنهم أيضا تحسين الكفاءة الاجتماعية التي يمكن تطبيقها مباشرة على المجتمع.

Abstract

Balaghah is a branch of Arabic literature that is very important for understanding the meaning of ijaz in the Qur'an. Balaghah is also a science taught in Islamic boarding schools, so it is very important to know the effectiveness of its learning methods. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Istinbathiyah method in learning Ma'ani (balaghah). The research method in this study is quantitative with an experimental type. Data collection was carried out by conducting observations, documentation, and tests. Data analysis was carried out statistically, the formula used was the t-test formula or t-test. There are several requirements that must be met before the t-test is carried out, including the Normality test, Homogeneity Test, and Hypothesis Test. The results of this study indicate that the Istinbathiyah method is quite effective with an average value of 16.3 from the control class while 66.9 from the experimental class.

Abstract

The innovative curriculum is designed to better adapt to the needs of the working world and technological developments. This ensures that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also the practical skills needed to succeed in their careers. It turns out that not all students understand the concept of the Independent Learning-Campus Independent Curriculum (innovative curriculum). On the other hand, students are not involved in the curriculum development process. This paper aims to describe student preparation in implementing an innovative curriculum, and reveal the impact of implementing an innovative curriculum. This type of research is qualitative research with a survey approach. The population of this study are students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya who have used an innovative curriculum. The sample was drawn using purposive sampling technique. The instrument is a questionnaire that has been validated by two education experts. The conclusion of this study shows that students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya have shown good readiness to implement an innovative curriculum. The research findings revealed that students felt an increase in their soft skills and hard skills. That is in the form of Arabic communication skills and the ability to master Arabic grammar, vocabulary, and Arabic sentence structure. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of higher education curriculum that the implementation of innovative curriculum effectively improves students' soft skills and hard skills.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to evaluate the quality of the Test of Arabic Foreign Language (TOAFL) items administered at KH. Abdul Wahab Hasbullah University (UNWAHA), Jombang. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the standard for TOAFL questions has been lowered, making them easier. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the item difficulty levels and differentiating power to assess the test's quality Design/methods/approach – This study employed a quantitative descriptive method. Data were obtained from the results of TOAFL Package A, administered to 20 UNWAHA students in 2024. Data collection was conducted through documentation and analyzed using ANATES software. Findings – The findings revealed that among 140 questions, the level of difficulty of UNWAHA TOAFL items was considered good because it had a balanced proportion, namely 13 items (9.3%) easy category, 83 items (59.3%) moderate category and 44 items (31.5%) difficult category. The differentiating power of the test questions is also said to be good (56.4%) because more than 50% of the questions are able to distinguish between upper and lower group students. Only a small proportion had less (12.8%) and negatif (14.3%) differentiating power. Based on these results, the questions can be reused in future test. Research implications/limitations – This research can provide important input for the TOAFL question-compiling team to improve the quality of questions for the better. However, this reaearch is limited to one question package only Originality/value – This research discusses all language skills on the TOAFL test, which is tested on students from various majors and then analyzed using software. Abstrak Tujuan – Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas butir soal Test of Arabic Foreign Language (TOAFL) yang diselenggarakan di Universitas KH. Abdul Wahab Hasbullah (UNWAHA), Jombang. Sejak awal pandemi COVID-19, standar soal TOAFL diturunkan sehingga menjadi lebih mudah. Oleh karena itu, analisis tingkat kesulitan butir soal dan daya pembeda perlu dilakukan untuk menilai kualitas tes tersebut. Desain/metode/pendekatan – Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Data diperoleh dari hasil TOAFL Paket A yang diberikan kepada 20 mahasiswa UNWAHA pada tahun 2024. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi dan dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak ANATES. Temuan – Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 140 soal, tingkat kesulitan butir soal TOAFL UNWAHA dinilai baik karena memiliki proporsi yang seimbang, yaitu 13 soal (9,3%) dalam kategori mudah, 83 soal (59,3%) dalam kategori sedang, dan 44 soal (31,5%) dalam kategori sulit. Daya pembeda soal tes juga dianggap baik (56,4%) karena lebih dari 50% soal mampu membedakan antara kelompok mahasiswa atas dan bawah. Hanya sebagian kecil soal yang memiliki daya pembeda kurang (12,8%) dan negatif (14,3%). Berdasarkan hasil ini, soal-soal tersebut dapat digunakan kembali pada tes di masa depan. Implikasi/batasan penelitian – Penelitian ini dapat memberikan masukan penting bagi tim penyusun soal TOAFL untuk meningkatkan kualitas soal menjadi lebih baik. Namun, penelitian ini terbatas pada satu paket soal saja. Orisinalitas/nilai – Penelitian ini membahas semua keterampilan bahasa dalam tes TOAFL yang diujikan pada mahasiswa dari berbagai jurusan, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak.

Abstract

Multiple-choice tests are commonly used in education, including at the higher education level, as an efficient method for evaluating students' understanding. In the context of Arabic language learning, multiple-choice tests are believed to be able to assess students' level of comprehension and mastery of the language. However, it is essential to evaluate the feasibility and reliability of these tests to ensure that the results accurately reflect students' abilities. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and reliability of multiple-choice tests in Arabic in higher education. The evaluation was conducted by assessing content validity, construct validity, reliability, and correlation with students' academic performance. The results showed that 60% of the test questions were aligned with the existing curriculum, although only 14 out of 25 questions met the criteria for construct validity. Despite some shortcomings in construct validity, the test demonstrated a high level of reliability, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.88, indicating consistent test results. Additionally, there was a significant positive correlation between test scores and students' academic performance (r = 0.44), indicating that the test can reflect students' overall academic achievement. Despite certain limitations in construct validity, the conclusion of this study is that the multiple-choice test is still considered reliable as an evaluation tool. This conclusion provides insight into the test's effectiveness in measuring students' understanding and mastery of Arabic at the tertiary level.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the "Becoming a Translation Practitioner" program organized by the Lisan Arabi Centre for Translation in improving translation competencies among higher education students. The program was designed with a project-based approach to address the gap between academic training and the demands of the translation industry. Involving 60 students from UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. this research employed a mixed-method approach, including interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings revealed a significant improvement in participants' translation competencies, as indicated by an increase in the average scores from 67.2 (pre-test) to 82.4 (post-test). The program enabled participants to produce final products in the form of ISBN-standard books, demonstrating their practical translation skills. The challenges, such as limited vocabulary and time constraints, were identified; however, participants generally provided positive feedback regarding the program's impact on their career readiness as professional translators. The study concludes that a project-based approach, supported by integrating technology and guidance from experienced practitioners, can effectively enhance translation competencies. These findings serve as an essential reference for developing similar training programs in other institutions to meet the evolving needs of the translation industry. This research contributes to developing innovative training models in higher education by integrating practical approaches and technology to enhance the relevance and competitiveness of graduates in the job market.
