Abstract

Homeschooling in early childhood is not just learning like in formal school, but also doing many different activities to stimulate children's development. When homeschooling starts, parents are required to be involved and maintain a relationship with their children. One approach that can be used in carrying out learning activities from home is Fitrah-Based Education (FBE). This study aims to look at the role of FBE in the relationship between parents and children. This study uses a mixed method with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected using a reflection of Child-Parent Relationships Scale (CPRS) filled out by parents and observations via social media Instagram and Qur’an Based Play’s community WhatsApp groups. Quantitative data analysis uses correlation and linear regression techniques, qualitative data analysis uses observation recording techniques. The results show that the routine of various Fitrah-based education activities can predict parent-child relationships (p-value 0.05) by 9.3% on the conflict dimension and 8% on the closeness dimension. This research can be useful for parents at home and the community of Fitrah-based education activists in general. The limitation is a threat to external validity.

Abstract

In recent years years, play-based learning (PBL) has gained attention as an effective approach to early childhood education, especially in STEAM. Play-based learning can be an effective way to introduce young children to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics concepts in a very fun and engaging way. Teachers play a vital role in promoting PBL in early STEAM education by creating a classroom environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and collaboration skills. However, the limited research on the roles of teachers in promoting play-based learning in STEAM in early childhood education (ECE) drives the author to conduct this study to provide insight into how teachers can engage constructively to promote PBL in STEAM in early childhood education. This study aims to address this gap by exploring the role of teachers in promoting PBL in early STEAM education. Through a literature review, the paper defines PBL and STEAM, emphasizing the importance of PBL for young children's development. It also discusses the significance of teacher training and professional development in enhancing their ability to support PBL. Lastly, identifies challenges and opportunities in implementing PBL in STEAM, offering recommendations for future research to better integrate these practices in early childhood education.

Abstract

Introducing a preschool-age child to real life and bringing him closer to it is one of the tasks of modern society. This is due to changes in the social life of all members of society (including preschool children), the importance of preparing a child for life, correctly orienting him in the ongoing phenomena of public life, as well as continuity between the first educational stages of the educational system - kindergarten and school. In this regard, one of the tasks of modern pedagogy of preschool childhood is to teach children the basics of economics. The problem of including economic education in the general education system has been considered by researchers recently. Along with such branches of education and upbringing as physical, labor, mental, aesthetic, economic, it acts as a relatively young one. The results of these studies are partial programs for the economic education of preschoolers, as well as educational and methodological manuals. At the same time, as the analysis of theoretical and methodological approaches to the problem of economic education of preschoolers has shown, its solution in the aspect of the moral development of children is not considered enough. The moral side plays a special role in economic education. The mere presence of knowledge and ideas about economics cannot mean that a child knows how to apply them correctly in life. Here, the other side immediately works - the moral side, which helps the child to understand the current situation. An urgent task of preschool pedagogy is to find effective ways to develop the personality of a preschooler, including his moral and economic education. It is generally recognized in Russian preschool pedagogy and psychology that the development of a child is carried out in the process of his active activity

Abstract

The moral development of early childhood is crucial for shaping their character and social interaction. This study examines the efficacy of the Project Approach in fostering moral development in young children within early childhood education settings.  The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative scoring of moral development with qualitative analysis of the children's responses. Using a five-point scoring rubric, the researchers assessed the moral reasoning abilities of the child participants through observations. The findings indicate that a majority of the children exhibit notable progress in their moral development, predominantly clustering within the "Developing" category, suggesting a shift towards more nuanced moral reasoning. The Project Approach's emphasis on real-world social interaction, critical thinking, and empathy cultivation appears to positively influence children's moral development. The results also highlight the importance of educational approaches that prioritize the cultivation of both cognitive and emotional aspects of morality. The study's conclusion is that the Project Approach significantly supports the development of more mature moral principles in students, facilitating children's transition to higher stages of moral development and fostering the foundations of healthy and sustainable morality. This result contributed to a more comprehensive understanding of how best to support children's moral growth.

Abstract

This study analyses the effect of TOCOMSION media on the prosocial behaviour of children aged 5-6 years at Creative Excellent Children Kindergarten. Based on empirical studies, some children have difficulty sharing, cooperating, and showing empathy. One of the causes is a less interactive learning method. This study used the True Experimental Design method with pretest-posttest control group. The sample consisted of 25 children who were divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through observation and tests, then analysed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that TOCOMSION significantly improved prosocial behaviour, especially in the aspects of cooperation, sharing, and empathy. This happens because TOCOMSION integrates physical activities and social interactions that encourage children to work together and control emotions. Through repeated treatment, it is shown that TOCOMSION media has a significant effect on prosocial behaviour. In conclusion, TOCOMSION is effective in improving children's prosocial behaviour through interactive and fun learning. The implication is that this media can be an alternative for PAUD teachers to develop children's social-emotional skills. Enhancing children's learning experience is more interactive and fun, while developing social-emotional skills that are important for their future

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of traditional Orang Asli songs in teaching and learning in preschool education. Traditional songs of the Orang Asli community have significant educational potential in fostering language development, cultural appreciation, and socio-emotional growth among preschool children. Using a qualitative approach, this research uses semi-structured interviews with preschool teachers. This study also uses document analysis of selected traditional songs to support the interview findings. Findings obtained from interviews with preschool teachers show that the application of traditional Orang Asli songs in the classroom has the potential to improve phonological awareness, vocabulary acquisition, and motor skills through group singing and movement activities. Document analysis of the repetitive lyrics and simple melodies of these traditional songs, themed around nature, community, and moral values, contributes to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Orang Asli community. The implications of this study show that the application of traditional songs in teaching can strengthen children's language, as well as ensure the sustainability of indigenous culture in early education. This study highlights the use and application of traditional Orang Asli songs in enhancing language development, cultural appreciation, and socio-emotional growth of preschool children, which can then contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Orang Asli community.
