Abstract

The acceleration of foreign culture has indeed marginalized many people's old habits which are synonymous with the meaning of wisdom, one of which is the use of regional clothing "Kain and Kebaya" in the context of everyday life. Even though the kebaya is national clothing as stated in Presidential Decree Number 18 of 1972 concerning Types of Civil Clothing and Law Number 9 of 2010 concerning Protocols. Looking at the use of kebaya by Indonesian women today, it tends to be found only at a few formal events. As is the case with the beauty of various Indonesian fabrics which are also becoming increasingly distant from modern society. Apart from the massive onslaught of fashion trends from the international world, this continues to be another factor, especially for the younger generation. The target group for this activity is Gen-Z who are 18-25 years old and are academics at Widya Mataram University, Yogyakarta, as well as several external guests who come from the Yogyakarta area. This activity uses talk-show, question-answer and interactive simulation methods among invited guests. The contents of the activities include: (1) Indonesian fabric exhibition "Javanese Batik Art Culture, (2) fashion show (3) talk show with the title "Contemporary Culture Vs Local Culture from the Perspective of Young People", as well as "Young People's Appreciation in Building Fabric Fashion Trends Dressing", and (4) a culinary bazaar which was enlivened by a number of local MSME players. Gen-Z is invited to collaborate on social media to popularize traditional clothing. In fact, all the invited guests looked very enthusiastic and expressive following the activities by appearing using the dress code "Kebaya", "Batik", "Regional Cloth", as well as other local cultural attributes with their own colors, motifs and aesthetic values.

Abstract

Scientific writing and publication skills are essential competencies for university students to support their academic and professional development. However, many students face challenges such as limited understanding of article structure, writing techniques, and the publication process in scientific journals. This article aims to describe a community service initiative in the form of a workshop on scientific writing and publication, specifically designed for students. The workshop was intended to enhance students' capacity to produce scientific papers that meet academic standards and to understand the publication process. The implementation methods included theoretical lectures, interactive discussions, and practical writing sessions with intensive mentoring by experienced speakers. The materials covered the structure of scientific articles, techniques for constructing logical arguments, strategies for journal selection, and steps for responding to the peer-review process. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and writing skills. Moreover, the workshop increased students’ confidence to initiate the publication of their scientific work in national and international journals. This article concludes that workshops on scientific writing and publication can serve as an effective community service model to foster a writing culture, enhance academic productivity, and improve the quality of university graduates.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered a difficult subject and is of little interest to students, which results in students having difficulty learning independently outside of school. The difficulty of class XI students in understanding mathematics material is the background for the need to use new technology, namely articulate storylines, so that mathematics learning is more innovative and interactive. This community service activity is divided into 2 stages, namely the preparation stage and the implementation stage. In the preparation stage, the community service team conducted interviews with class XI mathematics teachers at MA Miftahussaam to find out what material was still difficult for students to understand. The second stage of this community service activity is the implementation stage which includes a pre-test, providing learning companion modules, playing the Articulate Storyline video, and post-test. The results of community service regarding the use of Articulate Storyline media at MA Miftahussalam show that the average pre-test score of 25 students is 42.2. This average value shows that the level of students' understanding ability and interest in learning about Indefinite Integral material is still below the average standard, namely less than 50. Meanwhile, the average post-test score of 25 students is 72.2. This average value shows that the level of students' understanding ability and interest in learning about Integral Uncertain material has reached the standard value, namely more than 70. Meanwhile, if calculated using percentages, the percentage increase in value from pre-test to post-test is 71.09%. This percentage level can be stated to be quite good.

Abstract

The largest contributors to unemployment are vocational high school graduates and Generation Z aged 15 to 24 years. This is contrary to the motto of vocational high schools as vocational schools prepare human resources equipped with Hard skills and Soft Skills as well as technological insight as needed by the business world and industry. Therefore, to reduce this phenomenon, grade XII students or prospective vocational high school alumni are given additional current insights and competency reviews through the Workshop on optimizing automotive competencies and developing Biogasoline fuel. The community service program aims to optimize automotive competencies in EFI-based fuel systems and provide insight into automotive developments regarding alternative Biogasoline fuels. The community service program students are 25 grade XII students of SMK majoring in Motorcycle Business Engineering where the department has wide job opportunities due to the development of motorized vehicles of the Motorcycle type. The methods applied are Workshops and case studies prepared through studies of EFI-based fuel systems and biogasoline as alternative fuels. The community service program was carried out on December 12 and 13, 2023 smoothly and successfully. Students' automotive competence in EFI-based fuel systems and insight into automotive technology developments in alternative gasoline fuels have been optimally achieved from 15.43% to 89.14%. The provision of workshop materials accompanied by demonstrations of automotive components accelerates students' understanding.
