Abstract

Students accustomed to more teacher-centered methods may find it challenging to take the initiative, create goals, and monitor their learning required by SRL. In addition to covering the essential material, teachers must create projects that promote SRL. This study aimed to test the effect of project-based Learning (PjBL) on empowering students’ self-regulated learning in some schools in South Sulawesi. The current study utilized a descriptive-quantitative methodology with structural equation modelling (SEM) and partial least squares (PLS) statistical analysis. The population of each school is 1.120 students. This study applied random purposive sampling, and the number of samples was 285 students. Findings show that the structural model reflected the relationship between variables and tested the hypothesis in the inner model. The results described that implementation of project-based learning is effective on student’s self-regulated learning is proved by a t-test of 38.745 smaller than the t-table of 1.96 and the p-value is smaller than 0.05 (p-value =0.00) so it can be seen that all indicators on self-regulated learning have a positive influence on the implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) model. It can be concluded that the key determinant that has the most substantial influence on the quality of students is the effective delivery of project-based learning in fostering the development of self-regulated learning. The implication requires professional development to effectively integrate PjBL with SRL strategies. Training could focus on designing projects that promote self-regulation and developing assessment methods of students' SRL skills.

Abstract

The problem underlying this research is the low level of students' creative mathematical thinking skills, which is still challenging in the mathematics learning process. Conventional learning approaches that are less contextual are often unable to stimulate creativity and innovative problem solving. This study aims to improve students' ability to think creatively in elementary school teacher education. The study subjects were second-semester students at a university in Yogyakarta. Data collection used a mathematical, creative thinking test as an instrument. The quasi-experimental method was chosen for quantitative research in this study with an unequal control group design because it was experimental, and the sample determination was not carried out randomly. Instead, it used a deliberate sampling technique on second-semester students of the elementary madrasah teacher education undergraduate program. In the test, the increase and effect of the treatment were observed as measured using the n-gain value. The study results showed that the ability to think creatively in mathematics of students in the experimental class exceeded the average score of the control class. It can be concluded that ethnomathematics-based PjBL-STEM effectively improves students' problem-solving ability in mathematics. The implementation of ethnomathematics-based STEM-PjBL is important to be used as a mathematics learning strategy by integrating local cultural elements to provide a more meaningful learning experience at the student level. The implications of this study can be used as a reference by educational policymakers in compiling a curriculum that encourages strengthening 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Reading ability, known as Dokkai in Japanese, is one of the problematic parts of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. The problem in this study focuses on the low performance of students in understanding Japanese reading (Dokkai). This study examines cognitive anxiety and its correlation with the results of the Dokkai test of Japanese language learners. The Cognitive Test Anxiety Scale (CTAS) was used to survey learners' cognitive anxiety level, and the final semester exams of two courses related to Dokkai were used to obtain Dokkai test scores. CTAS responses and scores from the exam results were then analyzed using SPSS. This study used a quantitative research design to determine the relationship between variables. The population of this study was first-year students (second semester) registered in the Japanese Language Education Study Program, totaling 90 people. A random study used a Random sampling technique, considering the population's homogeneous nature. The respondents of this study were 58 first-year Japanese language students, consisting of 25 males and 33 females. The results of the study showed that students experienced a moderate level of cognitive anxiety when facing the Dokkai test, which was manifested physically and affected the cognitive process. The results of the analysis showed that there was a low negative correlation between CTAS and the results of the two Dokkai tests. The implications of this study have a significant effect on the ability to understand texts, so teachers and educators need to design a teaching approach that not only focuses on linguistic aspects but also pays attention to the psychological conditions of students.

Abstract

Research on entrepreneurship has been conducted, but studies linking entrepreneurship in the Merdeka Curriculum of the Merdeka Campus (MBKM) with self-leadership are still limited. Preliminary studies show that the level of self-leadership among students is still low, although this skill is important for success in entrepreneurship as well as in everyday life. This study aims to analyse the impact of MBKM's entrepreneurship programme on increasing students' self-leadership. Using quantitative methods with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), this study involved 152 students who participated in the MBKM independent entrepreneurship programme, with a sample of 115 students purposively selected. Data was collected using a questionnaire based on a 1-5 Likert scale. The results of the analysis show that the MBKM Entrepreneurship Programme has a significant effect on increasing students' self-leadership. Gender was not found to be a significant moderating variable, indicating that the programme is inclusive and provides equal benefits to men and women. This study suggests that the MBKM entrepreneurship programme can be an effective tool in developing students' self-leadership. The implication is that universities and study programmes are advised to integrate the MBKM Independent Entrepreneurship Programme into the curriculum to support the development of entrepreneurial potential, which is ultimately expected to enable graduates to create jobs and reduce the number of unemployed in Indonesia.
