Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of Student. Worksheet (LKPD) based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) integrated with the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes on the topic of the perimeter and area of flat shapes. The development of the LKPD is carried out using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D). Validation was carried out by material experts, language experts, and graphic design experts, and tested on fifth-grade students at MIN 05 Seluma to assess its effectiveness. The validation results showed that the developed LKPD is highly feasible, with validation scores from material experts at 0.94, language experts at 0.96, graphic design experts at 0.92, and item validation at 0.95. The effectiveness test demonstrated an improvement in students' learning outcomes, with an average N-Gain score of 78.48%, which falls into the effective category. Thus, this STEM-based LKPD integrated with the PjBL model is declared valid, effective, and suitable to be used as a learning tool to enhance students' understanding of the concepts of perimeter and area of plane figures.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a model of an inclusive Islamic and nature-based elementary school. Many children with special needs have not received formal basic education due to the limited number of Special Schools (SLB) in Indonesia. The capacity of SLB and inclusive schools is only 3%, leaving 97% of children with special needs without access to formal education. A qualitative research method was employed, involving observation and in-depth interviews. The results show that an inclusive Islamic and nature-based elementary school is a public school that accepts children with special needs, accompanied by special assistant teachers. Activities include spiritual aspects (reading the Quran, congregational prayers, memorizing hadiths) and cognitive aspects (learning in the classroom and utilizing nature). Children with special needs can participate in activities without being required to master academic aspects, but develop life skills. The findings suggest that the government's limitations can be overcome by public schools accepting children with special needs, enabling them to actualize themselves. As Muslims, it is obligatory to teach all children to worship without discrimination. It is hoped that educational institutions will participate in the jihad of teaching Islam to all people, including those with special needs.

Abstract

Mathematics learning difficulties in elementary school children remain a critical issue due to their impact on cognitive development, academic readiness, and emotional regulation. This study emphasizes the importance of instructional approaches that align with children’s cognitive developmental stages, particularly for those who have not yet fully reached concrete operational thinking despite having adequate intellectual potential. This study aimed to describe the cognitive and affective profile of a child with mathematics learning difficulties and to analyze changes in conceptual understanding following the implementation of the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach in two-digit arithmetic. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving psychological assessment, observation of learning behavior, cognitive testing, error analysis, and a four-stage CPA intervention. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of difficulty, thinking processes, and learning changes before and after the intervention. The findings showed an increase in calculation accuracy from 41.6% to 83%, accompanied by reduced mathematics anxiety, increased learning engagement, and the emergence of basic mental calculation strategies. Follow-up results indicated an 80% retention of skills, suggesting that the conceptual understanding developed through the CPA stages was relatively stable. Overall, this study highlights the role of a developmentally appropriate, concrete visual abstract learning sequence in supporting both cognitive and affective aspects of mathematics learning in children with specific learning difficulties. Further research is recommended to explore the application of this approach in broader educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the level of mathematical conceptual understanding of students in the Elementary Islamic Teacher Education Program (PGMI) on the geometry topic of the area of plane figures after participating in learning using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method. The subjects consisted of 43 sixth-semester PGMI students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) of UIKA Bogor. The instrument used was a conceptual understanding test on the area of plane figures that had been validated and tested for reliability. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to measure the average score and describe the percentage of conceptual understanding based on the categories of very good, good, fair, and poor. The results showed that the average conceptual understanding score fell within the good category. Specifically, students demonstrated strong understanding in the indicator of restating a concept but showed weaknesses in the indicator of providing examples and non-examples of a concept. These findings indicate that the RME approach is quite effective in facilitating conceptual understanding of plane area material; however, further reinforcement is needed in the aspect of presenting concepts in various mathematical representations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the game-based learning model in mathematics lessons in grade V at SDN Segara Makmur 01, Bekasi Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach and data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of the game-based learning (GBL) model was carried out in several stages, namely the preparation stage for game-based mathematics learning, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. This model has been proven to be effective in increasing learning creativity. The increase in student creativity can be seen in their curiosity, fluency, flexibility, and originality.

Abstract

In today's digital era, technology has become an integral part of the learning process, including in mathematics education at the elementary school level. Although many studies have been conducted on the use of technology in education, there remains a gap in understanding how digital technology can specifically enhance students' understanding of mathematics. This research aims to explore the role of digital technology as a learning tool and a driver of educational innovation in improving elementary school students' understanding of mathematics. This study employs a quantitative approach involving elementary school students as research subjects. Data were collected through surveys and analysis of students' learning outcomes before and after the implementation of digital technology in mathematics learning. The findings indicate that the use of digital technology, such as interactive learning applications and educational videos, significantly enhances students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Students engaged in technology-based learning showed increased motivation and better learning outcomes compared to traditional teaching methods. The study concludes that digital technology can serve as an effective tool for improving elementary school students' understanding of mathematics. With proper implementation, digital technology not only enhances learning outcomes but also creates a more engaging learning environment. This research contributes significantly to the development of mathematics teaching methods in elementary schools and provides insights for educators and policymakers on the importance of integrating technology into education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development trend of researching articles related to chatbots in education. The method used in this study was bibliometric analysis with the help of the VOSViewer application. Publication data was collected using the Publish or Perish application to obtain article data in Google Scholar-indexed journals. This study analyzed publications from 2013 to 2023. An initial search found a total of 606 articles. The data was then processed and double-checked using the Microsoft Excel application. After double-checking, several articles were found that were the same, so the total number of articles collected was 598. The research development trend has increased yearly related to chatbots in education, except in 2023 because this research was conducted in june 2023. Topics often discussed recently besides the keywords used in searches were covid, higher education, natural language process, context, English performance, text, online learning, AI chatbot, and language learning. Most often used keywords were chatbot, analysis, learning, student, application, study, deep learning, system, machine learning, and machine. However, some topics should be discussed more, such as fields (fields of study in subjects) and analysis (analysis). It is expected that this study can be a starting point for other researchers to develop research on these topics.
