Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of strengthening radicalism in the campus involving students and lecturers. The findings of several studies confirm an increasing trend of radicalism among students. The purpose of this research is to answer the main issue of the research which is to find out radicalism among public and religious college students. This research is field research, data and information obtained directly in the field, using quantitative methods. Data collection techniques through a closed questionnaire (closed questionnaire) using a Likert Scale. A number of universities in Java and Kalimantan were sampled in this study. This research found that radicalism among public and religious college students fluctuated with narrative responses at the level of soft radicalism. However, the narrative of radicalism is so strong in understanding, but tends to show a downward trend in attitudes and behavior. The idea of applying Islamic law is still the main choice for most respondents, but it is inversely related to the response to the application of the caliphate. Prohibition of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) organization is effective in reducing the attitude and behavior of radicalism among students.

Abstract

South Kalimantan is not only rich in natural resources, but also rich in culture and religious values. This study aims to describe the local cultural traditions and Islam associated with the activity of "diamond" gemstone panning, which is one of the natural resources of South Kalimantan, as well as to examine the cultural changes in the diamond panning tradition. The research method used is a qualitative ethnographic method. Data analysis from observations, interviews and documents from diamond panners was conducted using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results showed that the local and Islamic cultures of the Banjar people were found before panning, during panning and after panning diamonds. Local culture such as visiting thieves, maintaining abstinence and speech (pamandiran) and Islamic culture such as visiting the pious, reading prayers, reading shalawat, faith, patience and tawakkal. Some of these traditions have changed, especially in the local culture, including the tools used for panning. Social change in panning activities is an evolutionary change where the shift in cultural traditions occurs slowly to adapt to internal and external factors so that the balance of the social system is maintained where malim, pious people, bosses/capital owners, panners perform their duties according to to their functions for the sustainability of panning activities. Keywords:Local culture, Islamic culture, diamond panning, social change

Abstract

The concept of wahdah al-wujud Ibn Arabi (1165-1240 AD) and the concept of Al-Hikmah Al-Muta'aliyah Mulla Sadra (1571-1640 AD) are the most important contributing concepts in metaphysical thought in Islam. Hence, it is also important to understand these two concepts to study both the concept of essence and existence as a basis for understanding. The purpose of this study has objectives, namely (1) to know the concept of essence and existence from the perspective of Ibn Arabi. (2) to know the concept of essence and existence of Mulla Sadra's perspective. (3) to know the meeting point and the point of difference in the concept of essence and existence of both. The method used to explore this literature study by examining the work of the two figures, namely Ibn Arabi's work entitled “Futûhât al-Makkiyah” with Mulla Sadra's work entitled “Al-Asfar al-Arbaà” as a primary source and several related articles relevant to the topic discussed with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study are three, namely (1) according to Ibn Arabi (1165-1240 AD), existence is the form of essence, so that existence precedes essence. So, if something has existence then something has essence. But the opposite also applies. (2) According to Mulla Sadra, essence is the overall picture of reality or objects that exist in the mind; and existence is the objective reality outside the mind. (3) The concepts of essence and existence according to Ibn Arabi and Mulla Sadra have common ground in defining the concepts of essence and existence and also in comparing the concepts of essence and existence.

Abstract

The issues that arise regarding the Hajj include those who wait in line for years without being called by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. There is also a strong motivation for some to perform the Hajj multiple times. The research problem consists of two variables: first, why do people go on Hajj repeatedly; second, is it true that the religious experience during Hajj is a factor in the desire to perform Hajj again? This study aims to analyze the motivation of people to perform Hajj repeatedly in the holy land from the perspective of religious psychology (religious consciousness). The method used in this study is qualitative, a field study with interview and documentation methods. The respondents in this study are all pilgrims who have performed Hajj at least twice and reside in Yogyakarta and its surroundings. The results of this study prove that there is an influence of understanding regarding the legal conclusions on religious orders about performing Hajj. It is believed that performing Hajj once in a lifetime is obligatory, while performing it multiple times is considered sunnah and therefore unlimited. Secondly, the religious experiences encountered during the Hajj rituals in the holy land of Mecca. These personal and spiritual religious experiences vary among pilgrims. The differences are due to the place, time, atmosphere, health conditions of the pilgrims, and the quality of understanding of religious teachings. Among the religious experiences that tend to raise religious awareness can take the form of specificity, emotion, amazement, and also helplessness, leading to self-introspection, which further impacts the growth of personal and social holiness. Lastly, the task given by an institution or another person is believed to be a call from Allah, as not everyone gets the opportunity to perform Hajj. The Hajj culture in Indonesia is not just a tradition or ritual but an enhancement of Islamic culture that has implications for Islamic culture. It is known that 80-100% of Indonesians are motivated to perform Hajj.

Abstract

The abundance of ideologically charged digital da'wah content often has implications for integration problems amidst the plurality of social life, not only among Muslims themselves, but also social relations with other religious communities. The polemic calls for the importance of digital da'wah paradigms and ethics, both regulated by state norms and religious norms. Abstract

This research compares the thinking of KH. Ali Yafie and KH. Sahal Mahfudz in the concept of social fiqh and its relevance to modern challenges in Indonesia. These two figures have a unique approach to formulating social fiqh: KH. Ali Yafie emphasized the harmony between traditional Islamic principles and the modern context, focusing on social, economic, and environmental justice, while KH. Sahal Mahfudz carries the method of "fiqh lil maqasid," which is pragmatic and places the community's welfare as the main goal. This research method uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. Primary sources are in the form of KH's work. Ali Yafie, Initiating Social Jurisprudence, and KH. Sahal Mahfudz, Nuances of Social Fiqh, combined with supporting articles. The data were analyzed through the examination, classification, and interpretation stages, resulting in conclusions relevant to Indonesia's modernization context. The results showed that these two ideas complement each other in presenting solutions to social issues, such as poverty alleviation, inclusive policies, and environmental conservation. KH. Ali Yafie emphasized the importance of Islamic ethics in public policy, while KH. Sahal Mahfudz highlighted community participation in decision-making. In the modern era and technological disruption, both recommend the use of digital technology for social education and community empowerment to reduce economic disparities. The social fiqh they found is relevant to creating sustainable social justice and supports the vision of Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin. This approach also confirms the importance of synergies between scholars, intellectuals, government, and society to produce adaptive solutions to modern challenges.
