Abstract

One of Indonesia's top priorities still is tourism, which helps to boost regional development, employment, and the national economy. Among its developing sub-sectors, sport tourism, especially paragliding, has become increasingly popular because of Indonesia's varied and breathtaking natural surroundings. Still, differences in the evolution of tourism locations make it difficult to reach fair and sustainable tourism expansion. This paper attempts to investigate the main elements affecting the growth of paragliding sport tourism by means of a comparative case study of RIUG Paragliding in Bali and the Kemuning Paragliding Community in Central Java. Using a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach, the study thoroughly investigates tourism development strategies from several regional settings. Six key informants, three from each site who directly oversee tourist management, were used in a purposeful sampling process to gather data. Under the direction of the 4A tourism framework (Attractions, Accessibility, Amenities, and Ancillary Services), the study used in-depth interviews, structured observations, and document analysis. Data were transcribed, coded, categorized, and triangulated to guarantee validity and dependability. The results expose several methods of development: Whereas the Kemuning Paragliding Community stresses local resource use and volunteer involvement, RIUG Paragliding Bali uses a corporate-based model with contemporary facilities, integrated promotion methods, and stakeholder collaboration. The study comes to the conclusion that efficient development of paragliding sports tourism calls for cooperative governance involving corporate businesses, local communities, and government institutions to support sustainable and inclusive tourism expansion.

Abstract

The degree of student involvement in every emerging sport shows how well the institution promotes physical exercise and teamwork. High participation also suggests that extracurricular activities are interesting and sensitive to student needs and preferences. This study will examine the elements that influence student involvement in futsal extracurricular activities. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey design. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling, with 79 students actively participating in futsal training sessions at a junior high school in an urban area with high student participation in sports. A standardized questionnaire with Likert scale items is used to collect data on various characteristics of interest in sports, including enjoyment, motivation, peer influence, and perceived benefits of futsal. Education experts evaluated the instruments to ensure they were relevant and clear. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, focusing on percentage distributions to identify respondent interest level patterns. The findings indicate that students' enthusiasm for futsal extracurricular activities is generally low. Only 38 students (29.64%) showed strong interest, while the rest showed moderate to low enthusiasm. This data suggests that, despite futsal's popularity, underlying motivational or contextual barriers prevent widespread participation. Finally, the low level of interest among children indicates that extracurricular sports activities should be promoted and activated in schools in different ways. This study helps develop more successful engagement tactics targeted at students' interests and needs, supporting the overall goal of creating a more active and health-conscious school environment.

Abstract

Appropriate training zone, energy, and distance calculations strongly affect swimmer performance. Strong aerobic and anaerobic skills help swimmers compete. Improving 50-meter freestyle swimming speed requires proper training methods like Tabata water training. This study examines whether Tabata Water Training speeds 50-meter freestyle. His quasi-experimental study uses a pretest-posttest single-group paradigm. A sample of 16 Pradah Swimming Club members was chosen. Active members who had recently competed in regional competitions and gotten constant coaching from licensed instructors were chosen. Such inclusion criteria guaranteed that respondents had extensive training and competition experience, which is essential for study validity. The measurement of 50 meters of swimming time before and after therapy was the tool used. The important variations between pre-test and post-test scores were investigated by means of a paired sample t-test on data. Data normalality was evaluated using a Shapiro-Wilk test before the test. Should the data show a non-normal distribution, a Wilcoxon signed-rank test served as a non-parametric substitute. P 0.05 was the specified significance threshold. The results showed a significant increase in swimming speed after following the training program, with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). The average swimming time increased from 46.36 seconds (pre-test) to 42.20 seconds (post-test). In conclusion, Tabata Water Training works well to improve 50-meter freestyle swimming speed. This study offers empirical data that allows coaches to use water-based HIIT techniques as an effective substitute training tool to improve swimmer performance.

Abstract

Optimizing performance and devising efficient training regimens requires understanding elite athletes' physical profiles. In Indonesian Pencak Silat, BMI and body fat percentage reveal athletes' physical readiness and competitive advantages. Therefore, this study aims to examine the physical condition of Indonesian elite Pencak Silat athletes by assessing their BMI and body fat percentage. This research employed a quantitative descriptive design. A total of 20 elite athletes (12 males and 8 females) were selected through purposive sampling based on their achievements at national and international championships. Data collected included gender, weight class, BMI, and body fat percentage, measured using standardized anthropometric procedures. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, partial correlation analysis, and one-way ANOVA to explore relationships and differences based on gender and weight categories. The study found that athletes had a normal BMI of 22.8 kg/m² (SD = 1.9) and a body fat percentage of 16.5% (SD = 4.2%). On average, male athletes had a lower body fat percentage (14.2%) than female athletes (19.8%), a significant difference (p < 0.05). BMI was not significantly different among weight classes. However, partial correlation analysis showed a slight positive association (r = 0.45) between BMI and body fat percentage. In conclusion, Indonesian elite Pencak Silat athletes had ideal body compositions, with gender variances in body fat. These findings underline the need for gender and weight-specific training and dietary programs. This study contributes evidence-based recommendations to support more effective athlete development frameworks for advancing Indonesian Pencak Silat globally.

Abstract

Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in developing students' physical, emotional, social, and cognitive abilities. However, many PE learning processes still rely on teacher-centered approaches that limit student engagement and fail to create meaningful learning experiences. As a result, learning outcomes often lack relevance and sustainability. This study investigates how the use of Lesson Study (LS) affects both instructor professionalism and student learning. With LS, teachers work together to plan, observe, and methodically reflect on the learning process. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. 10 primary school teachers from Palembang, Indonesia, who teach physical education, participated in this study. The research instrument used was the Formative Class Evaluation (FCE), which consists of nine questions and four components: results, motivation, learning, and cooperation. The data analysis using the FCE indicated a significant improvement in teaching quality after the implementation of LS. The average FCE scores before LS ranged from 2.66 to 2.85. After LS, the average scores increased to between 2.71 and 2.86. These results suggest that although the relationship is relatively weak, LS implementation significantly enhanced classroom learning quality as perceived by the students. The findings suggest that LS has a positive impact on improving classroom learning experiences. Although the correlation between LS and student learning improvements was moderate, the statistical significance of the results highlights its potential as an effective professional development tool for teachers. Future research could explore the long-term effects of LS on student performance and the sustainability of these improvements.

Abstract

Student engagement in physical education is essential for promoting active participation and effective learning. However, traditional teaching methods often struggle to maintain students’ interest and motivation. In response to technological advancements, this study explores how e-module development, teacher creativity, and technology use affect student engagement in sports education, with technology acting as a moderating variable. A quantitative approach was applied, involving 150 Indonesian high school students selected through purposive sampling, focusing on those actively participating in physical education and using e-modules. Data were collected via structured questionnaires measuring e-module development, teacher creativity, technology use, and student engagement. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) 4.0. The results show that e-modules (β = 0.420, t = 7.746, p < 0.001), teacher creativity (β = 0.212, t = 3.668, p < 0.001), and technology (β = 0.200, t = 4.392, p < 0.001) significantly enhance student engagement. Moreover, technology strengthens the influence of both e-modules (β = 0.303, t = 5.908, p < 0.001) and teacher creativity (β = 0.214, t = 3.783, p < 0.001) on student engagement. These findings underscore the importance of integrating digital tools and creative teaching strategies in physical education. The study provides practical implications for educators aiming to boost student involvement through innovative, technology-supported instruction.

Abstract

Abstract

Reception analysis plays a crucial role in modern sports. One essential aspect of match analysis in Sepak Takraw is the reception technique. This study aims to analyze reception techniques through video recordings of semi-professional Sepak Takraw matches. The research employs a quantitative descriptive method using an indirect observation approach (video analysis). In its implementation, the researchers analyzed match footage to evaluate the receiving techniques used during the final match of the double event between the Jember and Malang teams at the 2023 East Java POMPROV. A purposive sampling technique was used to determine the research subjects, focusing on the receptions performed by both teams during the final match. The instruments in this study included video recordings and an observation checklist (receive analysis sheet), categorizing reception outcomes into successful receives (R1) and unsuccessful receives (R0). Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel to calculate the number and percentage of successful and unsuccessful receptions. The descriptive analysis revealed that Jember had a higher success rate in both sets. In Set 1, Jember achieved a perfect reception success rate of 100%, while Malang reached 92.31%. In Set 2, Jember maintained the lead with 93.75%, whereas Malang recorded 90.56%. The conclusion indicates that the Jember team outperformed the Malang team in terms of reception success during the final match. These findings are expected to serve as a valuable evaluation tool for coaches aiming to enhance reception techniques in Sepak Takraw and for athletes seeking to improve their performance.
