Abstract

Despite the growing interest in the psychological factors influencing athletic performance, research on the interplay of MT, SS, and achievement motivation, specifically within the context of women's futsal, remains limited. This study explores the relationship between mental toughness, social support, and achievement motivation among female futsal athletes in Indonesia. This research gathered 18 female futsal athletes using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Sports Mental Toughness Questionnaire (SMTQ) in a quantitative descriptive manner. The collected data will be analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25 software, with a focus on descriptive statistics, correlation, and linear regression analyses. The MSPSS evaluates perceived social support from sources like family and friends, while the SMTQ measures mental toughness, focusing on aspects such as self-confidence and resilience. The study results show that a correlation between MT and SS of 0.429 was found by statistical analysis; however, this association was not statistically significant (Sig. > 0.05). Descriptive analysis indicated that SS had a higher mean score (33.6403) compared to MT (31.2378), suggesting a higher perceived level of social support among participants. These findings highlight the need for further research to understand these dynamics comprehensively. This study contributes to understanding the psychological and social factors affecting the performance and well-being of female futsal athletes. It suggests the necessity for targeted interventions and support strategies.

Abstract

The motivational climate in sports is a crucial factor affecting athlete performance and well-being in both team and individual sports. This study compares the motivational climate between team and individual athletes. Using a quantitative descriptive method, the research involved 15 handball team athletes and 15 individual taekwondo athletes from West Java, selected through purposive sampling. All participants were female, aged 17 to 26 years, with a minimum of 3 years of competitive experience. Data were collected using the Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire (PMCSQ-2). Results showed that team athletes had a slightly higher motivational climate (M = 44.99, SD = 10.19) compared to individual athletes (M = 41.50, SD = 10.47). Team athletes also scored higher in ego and task orientations, with means of 44.23 and 45.74, respectively, while individual athletes scored 39.62 and 43.38. These findings suggest that team sports foster a more positive motivational climate due to stronger social support and group dynamics. Individual athletes focused more on skill mastery and personal goals, facing greater responsibility. This research provides insights for coaches and managers to improve the motivational climate in both team and individual sports, helping athletes achieve optimal performance and maintain mental health. Coaches should focus on individual athletes' personal achievements and support systems to enhance their well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quantitative relationship between physical factors such as height, weight, arm length, length of the span of both arms and hand pull strength on archery performance in archery athletes participating in the Central Java National Sports Week. This study uses a quantitative survey method. The sample involved was 28 athletes of the Central Java National Sports Week (PON) who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques in this study are tests and measurements. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between height, weight, arm length, length of the span of both arms, and hand-pulling strength with archery results. These physical factors are not the main determinants of archery achievement. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between height, weight, arm length, length of the span of both arms, and hand-pulling strength with archery results. Each variable is marked with an R-value of 0.82. Based on these results, height, weight, arm length, length of the span of both arms and hand pull strength are very important factors in supporting the dominant physical needs of archery athletes. This research has important implications for coaches and athletes, namely that the focus in training should be more directed at developing mental techniques and skills rather than simply relying on or modifying physical factors. Comprehensive skill development and experience enhancement can be a more effective strategy to improve achievement in archery.

Abstract

Students' academic ability can be improved through integrated learning activities of physical activity and actual gameplay. However, many teachers still have difficulties implementing it in physical education learning. The study investigates the effectiveness of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model, implemented through modified Kasti games, in enhancing game understanding among elementary students. Conducted as a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design, it involved 48 fifth-grade students in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The intervention spanned five sessions and assessed game understanding through the Games Understanding Assessment Instrument (GPAI), focusing on decision-making, skill execution, and covering. Results showed a significant improvement in post-test and post-test scores, with marked progress in each assessed component. The study highlights TGfU's potential in fostering tactical and cognitive skills in physical education for young learners, suggesting that traditional games adapted within this model offer a culturally relevant and effective approach to increasing students' engagement and understanding. Limitations include the absence of a control group and a small sample size, recommending further research to confirm these findings in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

Military preparation requires aerobic capacity (VO2max) and physical condition. Studies show that Indonesian Air Force personnel are overweight (34.9%) and obese (9.1%), which may impede task performance. This study examines how stair ascending and descending improve aerobic capacity (VO2 max) in Skadron Pendidikan 404 (Skadik 404) cadets, with BMI as a supportive factor. A quasi-experimental study included 40 cadets aged 19-22 with a BMI of 18.5-24.9 kg/m², divided into four groups: POK 1 (stair climbing), POK 2 (stair descending), POK 3 (stair climbing), and POK 4 (stair descending). This study uses 'POK' to refer to each study group. Data was collected using the 12-minute Cooper Test to measure VO2max. The data was analyzed using pairwise t-tests and two-way ANOVA with 5% significance. The study found significant differences in aerobic capacity (p < 0.05), with the stair-climbing group achieving larger VO₂max improvements than the descending group. These results show that army students may benefit more from stair climbing for aerobic training. This study supports military fitness studies by showing that stair climbing is better than stair descending and suggesting time-efficient, high-intensity training routines to improve soldiers' physical readiness.

Abstract

Football players need emotional maturity to handle competitive pressure, teamwork, and decision-making. Emotional maturity can affect Citra Bakti Ngada football players' performance, team relationships, and responses to wins and losses. This research design uses a quantitative descriptive designand this study employs a quantitative descriptive method using a survey method. The subjects in this study are all male senior and junior football athletes at Citra Bakti Club, totalling 50 athletes aged 16 and 23 years, using a saturated sampling technique. The research instrument utilizes an emotional maturity scale adjusted to the context of football matches. Validity testing is conducted using Cronbach's alpha technique, while reliability testing is carried out using the product-moment formula with the assistance of SPSS. The results of this study indicate that the emotional maturity of Citra Bakti football athletes falls into three categories: low emotional maturity at 61.9% (14 athletes), moderate emotional maturity at 33.3% (24 athletes), and high emotional maturity at 4.8% (12 athletes). In conclusion, most football athletes at the Citra Bakti Ngada club have a moderate level of emotional maturity. Based on the research findings above, the researcher can offer several contributions to the management of professional football clubs as well as coaches from a psychological perspective, namely by adding variations of emotional regulation training that can be implemented in football clubs, such as relaxation techniques, deep breathing, or meditation, which can help athletes manage negative emotions and remain focused during matches.

Abstract

Surmising non-classroom activities like playing futsal, overall sports competence is largely contingent upon the individual’s physical performance and capacity, particularly their cardiovascular endurance (Vo₂Max) fitness level. For the initial Bleep Test, participants had a rather low average Vo₂Max of 34.9 ml/kg/min. This is explained due to insufficient training periods or volume, inadequate equipment, and unrealistic progression expectations. This study aims to develop motor endurance in students through physical activity. The study uses a pre-experimental design and a single pretest-posttest group design. There were 18 subjects of the study who were active participants in futsal extracurricular activities in the school, aged 15-16 years old. Saturated sampling technique is used to take samples from the entire population. The measurement of Vo₂Max was done using the Bleep Test before and after the exercise intervention to estimate the effectiveness of the program. Type II exercise (HIIT) is proven to have a significant effect. This decision is supported by a t-test value of 15.942, greater than the t-table value of 2.110 at a 5% significance level, and the 0.000 value for significance, which is less than 0.05. Thus, it has been proved that HIIT Type II exercises improve Vo2Max. This study has practical implications as it suggests a workable and quantifiable exercise program to improve adolescent biomotor endurance. This supports the proof that HIIT Type II is an effective exercise method, and it can be incorporated into non-educational school programs as a straightforward way to address the problem of poor aerobic capacity.

Abstract

The correlation between teenagers' sporting ideals and perceived social support from family, friends, and others is examined in this paper. From a stratified random sample, 1,454 teenagers aged 12–18 (50.1% male and 49.9% female) underwent quantitative research using a correlational survey methodology. While the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) evaluated degrees of social support, the Youth Sport Values Questionnaire-2 (YSVQ-2) measured sports values. Using Pearson correlation, data were examined. Sports values and social support had a noteworthy but modest positive connection (r = 0.268, p = 0.001). Among the sources of encouragement, the influence of physical education instructors and coaches was more noticeable than that of family or friends. These findings imply that encouraging good youth development depends on using value-based sports education, particularly via organized programs and motivating adult figures. This study adds to the increasing corpus of research on sports pedagogy and emphasizes how social environments shape teenage ideals using sports.
