Abstract

Digital storytelling is a method that combines the art of storytelling with digital media in various forms such as videos, images, text, and so on. Digital storytelling integrates technology into the classroom to facilitate the learning process. Especially in English language learning, this method supports the improvement of students' English language skills. This study aims to identify students' perceptions of digital storytelling to improve students' speaking skills at an Indonesian Islamic college. This mixed-method study involved 30 second-semester students at Datokarama State Islamic University in Palu. Quantitative data using questionnaires were analysed based on percentages while qualitative data in the form of interviews were analysed with three stages, namely, data reduction, display, and verification. Five aspects of perception are of concern in this study, namely attitude, motivation, interest, experience, and expectations. The research results from the five aspects prove that students have a positive perception of the use of digital storytelling in improving their speaking skills. Digital storytelling makes it easier for students to understand the material well, gives them confidence in interacting and cooperating in the classroom, and creates a fun learning process.

Abstract

This article discusses the trends in Islamic education management studies at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, as well as the factors driving these trends. After identifying the trends and their influencing factors, this research further proposes recommendations for bolstering Islamic education management studies. The analysis of these trends utilizes theses written by students of the Islamic education management study program at these two universities over five years, from 2018 to 2022. Considering that the theses are available online, the data in this study are sourced from the institutional repositories of both campuses. The data are classified into three study topics: management, leadership, and supervision. These topics are further categorized based on their study area, namely Islamic educational institutions. The data, presented in tables and graphs, are also supplemented with interviews with policy-makers. These interviews serve to delve deeper into the factors influencing the trends in studies. The research reveals a clustering of studies in certain sub-disciplinary areas, attributed to the tendencies in the supervisors' expertise and the availability of topics within the study program, which in turn shape the students' choices of thesis topics. Additionally, there is a factor of replication from previous studies conducted by former students.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to observe the Problem-Based Learning learning model; it is hoped that students, as prospective welding welders, can understand the types and forms of welding defects that arise to assess the quality of welding performed. This research was conducted on grade XI Las 2 students of SMKN 1 Udanawu using the classroom action research method (Classroom Action Research). The results of the research conducted obtained an increase in the average completeness results of students from the precycle, cycle I, and cycle II students of grade XI Las 2 SMKN 1 Udanawu, which initially only reached 30.2 in the precycle to 56.4 in cycle I and in cycle II to 81.3. This happens because, in practice-based learning, students only concentrate on practice and ignore theories related to welding defects. After Problem-Based Learning is carried out, students better understand the causes and effects of welding defects that arise. The factor that increases student understanding in cycles I and II is that learning is made in groups, so students are more active in identifying welding defects. In cycle II, students present the identification results so that students indirectly understand the material related to welding defects. From the increased learning outcomes, students can judge the welding quality performed.

The process of enhancing character development is implemented for all students, especially those who possess exceptional requirements. The implementation of multicultural education is accomplished through two primary methods: firstly, by incorporating it into the curriculum across many disciplines taught in the classroom, and secondly, by fostering a school environment that embraces and upholds the principles and values of multicultural education. The process of integrating subjects is facilitated with the active participation of educators who have received specialised training. Educators receive periodic training sessions focused on strategies and approaches for instructing students with exceptionalities. In the context of educational institutions, the process of school acculturation is often implemented during the initial orientation phase for incoming students. During student orientation, it is crucial to prioritise the instruction of habits and fostering a sense of acceptance towards individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Abstract

The overarching objective of this research is to investigate a private boarding school’s character education program. Stufflebeam’s CIPP evaluation model served as the basis for the research, which covered the study’s context, input, process, and product. After administering a questionnaire to 35 second-year students, we compiled the necessary data through in-depth interviews with the principal and three teachers. The questionnaire was explored quantitively using regression analysis with a statistical application called SPSS statistics-25. Meanwhile, thematic analysis was utilized to analyze the qualitative data throughout condensation, and regression analysis from SPSS result to be used to conduct a quantitative investigation of the questionnaire. The qualitative data was analyzed using theme analysis throughout the condensation process, beginning with description, progressing through reduction, categorization, and interpretation of data. The results showed that the school positively affected students’ character development through the combination of academic and extracurricular programming. Similarly, pupils felt like they were making headway. Having full support from the institution, even from alums, is a massive plus for character-building programs. In return, the school gains the same merit, boosting the favorable profile of students so that the communities may recognize the school’s characteristics. A reciprocal advantage in developing students’ character is available between the school and the pupils.

Abstract

The issue raised by this research relates to the affection that Indonesian immigrant children who attend school in Malaysia have for their own country. The younger generation in Indonesia has to love their country in order for them to grow up to be future national leaders and capable of defending it. Through the identification of factors that support and surmount current challenges, this research seeks to cultivate in Indonesia's youth a love for their country and hometown despite their exile. This study employs a phenomenologically grounded qualitative technique. The head of the learning studio, the class instructor, and three first-grade primary school pupils from the Indonesian Civic Education Center (PPWNI) in Klang, Malaysia, served as study informants. Techniques for gathering data include observation, documentation, and interviews. This study employs source triangulation and technology to guarantee data accuracy. The data analysis for this study involved four stages: gathering data, analyzing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Interactive analytical models are utilized for this. According to research findings, Civic Education sessions that highlight these characteristics help pupils at the Indonesian Civic Education Center (PPWNI) in Klang, Malaysia, demonstrate a sense of love for their nation. Using home products, appreciating Indonesia's natural beauty and culture, learning the national song by heart, and enjoying domestic travel are a few of them. The purpose of this study is to enhance the character education and patriotism that Indonesian youngsters get at Learning Studio Malaysia, which has not yet been executed to the best of its abilities.
