Abstract

Technological disruption needs to be accompanied by character formation based on Pancasila principles so that the younger generation is able to protect themselves from the negative impacts it causes. One of the efforts is through local wisdom, as is done by the Pesanggrahan village community with the bobok bumbung tradition. This research aims to determine the procession and efforts to build a character with Pancasila principles through the bobok bumbung tradition. Researchers used qualitative descriptive methods. The techniques and instruments in this research are observation analysis, interview guidelines, and documentation in the form of photos. The informants for the interviews selected in this research were village officials, village elders, and students of SMP Negeri 3 Kroya who follow this tradition. The validation used in this research is the triangulation technique. The results of this research show that the traditional Bobok Tubung procession is carried out with traditional arts performances and competitions. Character formation based on creative character values, caring for nature, and a clean lifestyle, is realized through art performances, coloring competitions, and fashion shows. Responsible character, love for the homeland, togetherness, discipline, agility, and resilience through traditional arts. The formation of caring, cooperative, and patriotic characters is realized through the puppet show Pandawa Syukur. There is a need to preserve and develop this tradition. Further research needs to be conducted, so that we can find out the extent of the success of character formation with Pancasila principles through the bobok bumbung tradition.

Abstract

The multi-religious reality cannot be avoided by the people of Indonesia, one of which is in the Lumajang Regency. If not treated properly, this condition will create the potential that lead to religious conflict. FKUB (Forum Kerukunan Umat Beragama) is a bridge between religion and the state in uniting a pluralistic Indonesian society to create religious spaces. Interfaith dialogue is a meeting place for the community and religious leaders, through joint discussion sessions to open people's insights regarding differences. The purpose of this research is to determine the implementation of interfaith dialogue activities that have been carried out by FKUB in building a life of religious tolerance in the Lumajang Regency. Through qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach. Then, the authors conducted observations, interviews, and literature studies online and offline for data collection techniques. Theoretical analysis carried out in this case study uses the concept of "Interfaith Dialogue" by Hans Kung through participatory involvement which is divided into several activities, namely: 1) Inauguration of the Harmony Awareness Village; 2) Inter-Religious Harmony Dialogue in Senduro Village; 3) Inter-Religious Youth Harmony Dialogue (GEMA-UTAMA); 4) Interreligious Women's Dialogue (FP-KUB); 5) Independent film “Merajut Desa Satu Hati ". So this research can be an evaluation of interfaith dialogue activities related to how much the people of Lumajang Regency can accept differences and involve these differences in their daily activities

Abstract

Politics is an integral part of human life and plays a strategic role in shaping civilization. Currently, the political reality in Indonesia is often considered contrary to the ethics and morals that have long been upheld, as seen in the phenomenon of political dynasties, the spread of post-election hoaxes, and the high incidence of corruption. This research aims to explore political ethics from the Islamic perspective exemplified by Prophet Muhammad SAW through a literature study method. This method is used to delve into and understand the fundamental principles of Islamic political ethics, such as justice, honesty, social responsibility, and community welfare, which are deemed relevant as guidelines for the current political dynamics in Indonesia. This research is expected to contribute as a reference in the application of Islamic political ethics that can be adapted to the modern political context of Indonesia, emphasizing the importance of integrity, accountability, and public transparency as the foundation for creating morally and ethically grounded leadership. Thus, this research offers ethical solutions to improve the quality of leadership and political practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

Media serves as a powerful tool in shaping public opinion and perspectives, particularly through Islamic organization-based media portals that play a crucial role in influencing perceptions of the LGBT community. This study examines the construction of LGBT narratives in the media portals NU Online, Ummah Today, and CAIR, utilizing the social semiotic method developed by M.A.K. Halliday and drawing on the theories of Nick Couldry and Andreas Hepp to explain the role of media construction. A total of 48 units of analysis were conducted, comprising 29 publications from NU Online in 2016, 9 publications from Ummah Today in 2022, and 10 publications from CAIR in 2016. The findings indicate that Ummah Today and NU Online tend to reinforce traditional values by rejecting issues such as LGBT, whereas CAIR adopts a more inclusive approach, especially in times of crisis, aiming to dispel Islamophobia and promote human rights for minority groups. This research reveals how media practices shape identities and social meanings across various cultural contexts and highlights significant social, cultural, and political implications of language in maintaining or challenging existing power structures and social norms.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the implementation of the new concept of Aswaja an-Nahdliyah in teaching religious moderation and citizenship in pesantren integrated schools. It is based on the urgency of strengthening the role of pesantren in shaping a moderate understanding of religion and citizenship amid global challenges in the form of increasing radicalism and extremism. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study design. The research was conducted in three pesantren integrated schools in Malang Regency, East Java, which represent the types of salaf, modern, and semi-modern pesantren. Data were collected through deep interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The results showed that the development of a new concept of Aswaja an-Nahdliyah was carried out through the systematic integration of values into the curriculum, the adoption of interactive teaching methods, and the development of teaching materials that integrate traditional values with contemporary issues. The teaching of Aswaja an-Nahdliyah values contributes significantly to the formation of religious moderation attitudes among santri, reflected in an increased understanding of key concepts of Islamic moderation and the ability to apply Aswaja an-Nahdliyah principles in responding to contemporary issues. This research provides valuable insights for the development of educational policies that promote religious moderation and strengthen civic values in Indonesia. It also makes an important contribution to the formulation of educational strategies that are adaptive to the demands of the times, while still maintaining the essence of fundamental Aswaja values

Abstract

Character education is crucial for addressing the negative impacts of technology on children's development. In this context, schools play a vital role in shaping individuals according to the norms and rules prevalent in society. This research aims to describe the efforts made in character development among elementary school students in Indonesia and to compare these efforts with those implemented in the Japanese education system. Through a literature study, this research explores the concrete steps taken by schools to improve character education. The findings indicate that support from the community, non-governmental organizations, and the government in Japan holds significant potential for adoption by schools in Indonesia. Several effective practices identified, such as integrated approaches and community support, can enhance the quality of character education in elementary schools. By implementing these methods, it is expected that schools in Indonesia can produce students who are not only academically intelligent but also possess good moral values and social responsibility. The role of school leaders is crucial in ensuring effective character education by managing the available support and resources to achieve these goals.
