Abstract

Mathematics instruction at the primary school level remains predominantly focused on procedural skills and one-way communication, resulting in students’ limited conceptual understanding, particularly in determining angle measures. This study aims to (1) identify instructional needs in teaching angles using Camtasia Studio 8.0 and (2) evaluate the effectiveness and appeal of this digital medium in enhancing learning outcomes. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The participants consisted of 53 fourth-grade students divided into a control class (IV A) and an experimental class (IV B). Data were collected through expert validation, questionnaires, interviews, and learning outcome tests (pretest–posttest), and analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Validation results indicated that Camtasia Studio 8.0 achieved feasibility ratings of 80% (content expert), 96.5% (media expert), and 92.7% (instructional expert), confirming its validity and appropriateness for classroom use. The t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups. These findings support Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Theory, which posits that the integration of visuals, audio, and text enhances understanding and long-term memory retention. This study offers theoretical contributions to the integration of digital multimedia in mathematics education and presents an innovative, practical media model for primary school teachers.

Abstract

Listening skills constitute an essential component of Indonesian language learning, contributing to the development of students’ overall language competence. However, students' limited comprehension of fables delivered by teachers highlights the need for innovative instructional media. This issue often stems from the use of monotonous and insufficiently interactive methods, which diminish students’ interest and focus. This study aims to improve learning outcomes in listening to fables through the application of finger puppet media among second-grade students at MI An-Najihah Babussalam Kebonsari Madiun in the 2024–2025 academic year. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The study involved 20 students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings show a significant improvement in both learning outcomes and student engagement. Mastery learning increased from 45% in the pre-cycle to 80% in Cycle I, and reached 95% in Cycle II. Learning activities also improved from 50% to 90%. These results indicate that finger puppet media are effective in enhancing listening skills for fables and in fostering a more engaging, active, and enjoyable learning environment. The implications of this study underscore the importance of incorporating visual-interactive media in the teaching of listening skills at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study addresses the persistent challenge of low descriptive text writing ability among seventh-grade students, which is largely attributed to conventional teaching methods that lack authentic experiential engagement. The research aimed to evaluate the impact of implementing the Direct Observation Method on students’ descriptive writing proficiency. Using a one-group pretest–posttest design, 30 seventh-grade students from SMPN 2 Nainggolan were selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a performance test scored with a validated rubric based on Nurgiyantoro’s framework. Statistical analysis employing a paired-samples t-test revealed a significant improvement in students’ writing performance (t observed = 7.677 > t critical = 1.699), with mean scores increasing from 54.33 (Very Poor) to 77.83 (Good), representing a 23.50-point gain. The method showed its strongest effects on content development (+8.1 points) and organization (+6.3 points), while linguistic aspects exhibited more moderate improvement. These findings indicate that direct environmental engagement substantially enhances students’ ability to generate and organize descriptive content and offer educators a practical strategy for bridging the gap between theoretical instruction and authentic writing experiences in descriptive text composition.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited research on the application of the demonstration method in khat (Arabic calligraphy) instruction at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level. It aims to examine the planning, implementation, and outcomes of using the demonstration method in khat lessons to improve students’ Arabic writing skills. The research employed Classroom Action Research (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas [PTK]) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings, with 30 Grade IX students of MTs DDI Ujung as the subjects. The independent variables in this study were the demonstration method and khat instruction, while the dependent variable was Arabic writing skill. Data were collected through observation to obtain qualitative data and evaluation tests to obtain quantitative data. The results show that lesson plans were systematically designed, and their implementation enhanced interaction between teacher and students. The average student evaluation score increased from 71% in the first cycle to 84% in the second cycle, representing a 13% improvement. These findings confirm that the application of the demonstration method in khat instruction is effective in significantly improving students’ Arabic writing skills.

Abstract

Social conflicts among students are a frequent phenomenon in primary school settings and have the potential to disrupt the teaching–learning process and students’ social development, thereby positioning teachers as central actors who play a crucial role in preventing and resolving conflicts through pedagogical and socio-emotional approaches. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in handling social conflicts among students at SDN 2 Mamben Daya. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document studies as data collection techniques, with classroom teachers and the school principal who were directly involved in managing student conflicts serving as the research subjects. The findings show that teachers act as mediators, character builders, and facilitators of empathic communication, actively identifying potential conflicts, integrating cultural and religious values into problem-solving, and establishing collaboration with students’ parents. These strategies have proven effective in creating an inclusive and harmonious learning environment. The study concludes that the role of teachers in addressing social conflicts among students is not only curative but also preventive and educative, thereby requiring institutional support that includes teacher training, the strengthening of character education curricula, and school–family partnerships. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the development of policies and educational practices based on conflict resolution in primary schools.
