Abstract

This study aims to enhance the understanding of data processing concepts among fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 23 Surakarta through the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach. The research was conducted using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, which involved two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The primary issue identified was the low level of students' comprehension of data processing concepts, such as data collection, classification, interpretation, and the use of diagrams and tables. To address this, an active and contextual learning approach was implemented, involving real-life data collection and analysis, the use of digital tools for data visualization, and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategies. In the first cycle, the intervention revealed limited improvement in student engagement and learning outcomes. Consequently, the second cycle introduced revised group formations and additional instructional strategies, including ice-breaking activities. The results showed a significant improvement in student participation and understanding, with an increase in average class scores from 65 in the first cycle to 81 in the second cycle. The percentage of students meeting the learning criteria rose from 14.28% to 82.14%. This study concludes that applying TaRL, along with improved group dynamics and interactive learning methods, effectively enhances students' data processing skills and overall learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate learning outcomes through role-play with real-life scenario simulations in English lessons for Information Technology Systems (STI) students at Mbojo Bima University. This study applied a qualitative research method with a descriptive type. The data sampling technique used purposive sampling and the researcher intentionally selected students of first semester. The methods of qualitative data collection most commonly used are document study, observations, semi-structured interviews and focus group discussion. Then, the data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model which consisted of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawn. The conclusions of this study include students’ learning experiences and learning approach. Students' learning experience in this study involved applying real-life contexts, active participation, enhancing confidence, practicing specific grammatical structures and vocabulary related to the scenario. Then, in this research, PBL as a learning approach facilitated students’ opportunity to develop their critical thinking in order to connect students’ learning experiences in real-life with language competence and skill.

Abstract

Researchers conducted observations at the school because they wanted to ensure that education, attention, support and communication were optimal to help autistic students adapt to their environment. Children with autism must also be educated to help them behave like other normal children. This education must be provided by parents and their families, not just by teachers at school. Children with autism also need extra support and attention from their parents and families. Parents who have children with autism must know how to care for and accompany them to support their development and build social interactions, such as helping them learn, play and interact with other people. Additionally, communication is a particularly difficult challenge for people with autism; Parents can try several approaches to build communication with children with autism, such as imitating their child's sounds and play behavior to encourage more interaction.

Abstract

The design of disaster preparedness in secondary schools emphasizes coordination, information management, the use of early warning systems, and education and training. Preparing schools for disasters is crucial to minimizing risks and safeguarding the the health and welfare of students, teachers, and other members of the school community. This study employs a literature review approach, analyzing existing theories and practices related to disaster preparedness, including inter-agency coordination, disaster information management, and the application of early warning systems suitable for secondary schools. Using a qualitative literature review method, this research examines academic publications, policy reports, and other relevant documents to identify critical aspects of disaster preparedness design for schools. The study involves collecting secondary data from books, scholarly articles, and official records concerning coordination, information management, early warning systems, and training programs. These data are qualitatively analyzed to uncover patterns, strategies, and recommendations for enhancing school disaster preparedness. Findings highlight that effective coordination among schools, government bodies, and related institutions is essential for developing a robust preparedness system. Efficient and timely information management ensures that school communities are well-informed about emergency procedures. Integrated early warning systems, utilizing communication tools and routine drills, significantly enhance awareness and readiness among school members. Additionally, ongoing education and structured training for students, teachers, and staff improve disaster response skills and understanding, ultimately reducing potential losses.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using internet hotspot facilities as one of the learning resources for TJKT students at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang from the perspective of students and to provide solutions to the obstacles faced by TJKT students in using internet hotspot facilities as one of the learning resources at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang. In this study, the approach used was a quantitative approach. By using a quantitative descriptive method, reviewed from the form of data and analysis techniques, it is included in the quantitative approach, because the data obtained is in the form of numbers and is resolved using statistical methods. The test results using the Sigmon application showed variations in connection quality at various hotspot points. Although in general the download and upload speeds are sufficient for browsing and downloading files. This can be influenced by several factors, such as distance from the router, number of users, and signal interference. The average speed of the hotspot speed test in class XI TJKT 4, the average value of the download speed is 63.89 mbps, for uploading 61.14 mbps. And for class XI TJKT 5, the average download speed is 138.92 mbps, for uploading 103.35 mbps. For speed measurement using the SIGMON speed test application, the average value of the download speed is 47.21 mbps, for uploading 40.19 mbps. The results of the study indicate that the use of internet hotspot facilities at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang is very effective in increasing student access to learning resources. It is proven that there is a significant relationship between the use of internet hotspot facilities and increasing student access to learning resources at SMK Negeri 1 Kupang.

Abstract

This paper discusses how Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation had an extraordinary impact on the development of education for enslaved people, particularly African Americans, after the Civil War. It also highlights how the long-standing practice of slavery in America, which had persisted for centuries, was boldly challenged by Lincoln's declaration to abolish it. Lincoln issued a policy to eliminate slavery, which significantly influenced their level of education in the years that followed. This paper used a qualitative method with a historical approach to explain the social aspects of life in the past. The research findings indicate that during the era of slavery, enslaved individuals were heavily bound by various rules imposed by plantation owners. These rules had to be obeyed without any means of self-defense. Enslaved people were considered property of landowners, who could sell them and treat them as they pleased. Abraham Lincoln sought to abolish this practice by issuing a presidential decree in the form of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. This effort culminated in the U.S. Congress adding the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1865. The policy to abolish slavery gave rise to human rights protections for enslaved individuals, especially those working in the southern states.
