Abstract

Banyuwangi is the largest coffee plantation centre in East Java, with robusta and arabica coffee production reaching 10,518 tonnes per year. Coffee plantation waste, which is abundant, is known as coffee pulp. Coffee pulps can be converted into organic compost/fertilizer, animal feed, and eco-friendly products such as cellulose-based nata/membrane. The abundant availability of coffee pulp waste in Banyuwangi Regency has not been correctly handled or processed to prevent environmental impact. Converting coffee pulp waste into eco-friendly products will benefit the surrounding community and increase the added value of the waste. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to engage in activities involving the local community, local government, and agro-tourism actors through counseling and training on processing coffee pulp waste/bioconversion into eco-friendly products, thereby benefiting the community in Banyuwangi Regency, especially in the Glenmore area. Training participants were given a questionnaire for assessment. Based on the results of the questionnaire analysis, it is known that the participants' understanding before the activity is: 40% of participants were very poorly understood, 13% were poorly understood, 20% were quite understood, 13% understood, and 13% were very familiar with the material of processing coffee pulp waste. After receiving training, 27% of participants achieved an excellent understanding, 33% had a moderate understanding, and 33% had a somewhat understanding. Additionally, there were still participants who did not understand as much as 7%. Based on the participants' assessment, 67% felt that the benefits of this activity were excellent and should be carried out on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) often experience stigma and discrimination in the community, so they usually keep their HIV/AIDS status a secret and experience rejection by both family and the community. An informal caregiver is a companion, consisting of friends, neighbors, or volunteers, who take care of PLWA who are excluded by their family and need help/assistance to carry out activities related to daily needs and medication. The Commission for HIV/AIDS and Drug Control (KPA) GBKP Moderamen Tanah Karo shelters and assists volunteers who act as caregivers of PLWHA. The purpose of this PKM is to provide health education related to PLWHA assistance, aiming to increase caregiver capacity and enrich the knowledge of KPA GBKP staff. The method of conducting PKM is by educating caregivers on how to care for people living with HIV/AIDS through online seminars delivered by PKM team members. The results of this PKM showed an increase in knowledge, as indicated by a rise in the pretest mean from 66.8 to 80.5 in the posttest. Health education increases caregiver knowledge, as evidenced by the posttest average, which shows a significant increase in knowledge.

Abstract

Deep learning is a policy currently being implemented in primary and secondary education, as well as in vocational schools. The implementation of deep learning in learning in vocational schools requires an exceptional understanding for teachers. This training aims to gather data and facts about the knowledge, experience, and implementation of deep learning among private vocational school teachers. The method employed is in-house training, utilizing a participatory and collaborative approach. The training was held at LPS Ciamis Private Vocational School. The training participants were 40 private vocational school teachers. The instrument used was a questionnaire using Google Forms. The results of the training showed that an average of 68% of private vocational school teachers already had a deep understanding of learning. As many as 15.8% of private vocational school teachers are familiar with the basic concept of deep learning. This knowledge was obtained from social media, friends, and the web, to the extent of 31.6%, 26.3%, respectively. As many as 89.5% of private vocational school teachers agreed that deep learning can improve the quality of learning. The teachers already have a high degree of understanding of the purpose of implementing deep learning in vocational schools, with approximately 98% understanding. 47.4% of private vocational school teachers are ready to implement deep learning, while 47.4% of private vocational school teachers are not ready to implement deep learning. Thus, deep learning still requires intensive socialization and training so that vocational school teachers can implement deep learning into the subjects they teach.

Abstract

Landslides and flash floods are common natural disasters in volcanic landscapes. The repercussions of these events are substantial. A dearth of understanding, preparedness, and awareness of disaster risks can result in casualties, significant material losses, and impediments to the post-disaster recovery process. Disaster mitigation has been demonstrated to be an effective solution for managing post-disaster activities. The objective of this service activity is to elucidate the significance of participatory-based disaster mitigation in establishing a community that is responsive to disasters. The activity was carried out in Rua Village, Ternate Island District, Ternate City. The community service method employed is characterized by a socialization approach, encompassing mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. Activities are carried out directly in the community in Rua Village. The findings of the initiative have contributed to an enhanced understanding of disaster mitigation strategies, particularly within the context of volcanic landscapes, in regions susceptible to such events. Additionally, the team emphasized the importance of implementing initiatives such as afforestation, erecting disaster-response shelters, and strengthening community resilience. Furthermore, additional coordination is necessary between the community and the local government to effectively manage disaster-prone areas. These regions must be identified as priorities so that the local government can implement initiatives aimed at cultivating disaster-resilient communities.

Abstract

Nationally, according to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the prevalence of anemia was 18.0%. Meanwhile, in Cirebon Regency, the prevalence of anemia reached 30% in adolescent girls. As many as 23% of female students at MA Mafatihul Huda do not understand the importance of consuming iron-rich foods. Therefore, nutrition education is an essential strategy in preventing anemia, but conventional approaches are less attractive to adolescents. This activity aims to assess the effectiveness of the short film media "PAZIA" (Iron-Rich Foods) in increasing the knowledge of adolescent girls about anemia. The methods used included nutritional status assessment, pre-test, film screening, focused group discussion (FGD), and post-test. The subjects of the activity were 21 female students from MA Mafatihul Huda in Cirebon Regency. The results showed that before the intervention, 38.1% of respondents had an underweight nutritional status and 19,1% had irregular menstrual cycles. Following the intervention, there was a 11.4-point increase in the average knowledge scores. Visual-based educational media, in the form of PAZIA film, has proven effective in increasing adolescents' awareness and understanding of the importance of consuming iron-rich foods. Therefore, the use of short films like PAZIA should be expanded in adolescent health education programs.
