They are Dayah Asasul Islamiyah in East Aceh, Dayah Madinatuddiniyah Nurul Huda in North Aceh, Dayah Madinatuddiniyah Darul 'Ulumiddin in Southwest Aceh, and Dayah Darussalam Labuhan Haji in South Aceh. The research data was gathered through purposeful-snowballing in-depth interviewing techniques with a variety of informants, including Abu as the dayah's leader. After that, the data is processed using interactive analytic procedures, which include condensing, presenting, and concluding. According to the study's findings, Aceh's dayah leaders' (Abu) paradigm has shifted from being exclusive and orthodox to being inclusive and flexible during the dayah's current period of development. The Mua'dalah programme and the higher education programme Ma'had Aly were both implemented as part of Abu's strategy to reorient Islamic education in dayah, as well as the training of human resources to become educators,

Abstract

Education in Minangkabau is fundamental in relation to women and their role in all aspects of life, especially because the Minangkabau people, the largest ethnic group in West Sumatra, adhere to a material-lineal kinship system. This article aims to describe education and women represented by local media in West Sumatra. Data was collected using documentation techniques, interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Documentation techniques are used to obtain lingual data, while interview and FGD techniques are used to collect data related to the information on the news production process. Data were analyzed by using the Sara Mills framework. The results of the research show that forms of representation of women in mass media can be classified into 13 thematic clusters based on specifications of the substance of the news and the point of view of the writing. The West Sumatra’s mass media represents women more as subjects than as objects. In various forms of reporting, women are represented as independent, warriors and achievers in the field of education. This finding refutes the claim that women are the second class and indicates that West Sumatra media reporting is classified as a gender responsive reporting.

Abstract

The development of halal tourism in West Sumatra is not proportional, due to a lack of service to tourists and the prevalence of negative social behaviors such as fraud, coercion, deception, and violence within the Minang society, often known as the 4P (Pakuak, Palak, Pakang, and Preman) behavior. This research aims to identify and educate on social behaviors of fraud, coercion, deception, and violence (Pakuak, Palak, Pakang, and Preman) that hinder the development of halal tourism in West Sumatra. The research findings indicate that first, the potential of halal tourism in West Sumatra, seen from religious, socio-cultural, natural potential, and stakeholder perspectives, strongly supports the development of halal tourism. Second, behaviors inhibiting the development of tourism communities, the 4P (Pakuak, Palak, Pakang, and Preman), are still prevalent amidst tourism activities in West Sumatra. Third, the Islamic Behavior Improvement (IBI) Tourism Model for tourism communities, tourists, and halal tourism stakeholders in West Sumatra, based on development results, has been tested for product validity.
